Abura (あぶら) is a yokai who lives in the mountainside.

Appearance[]

Abura's full appearance

Abura's full appearance.

Abura has a diminutive head characterized by large, round eyes, small ears, and a small beak, while its body is completely covered in dark fur that resembles a straw coat. Overall, it has a bird-like form, akin to that of a dark-colored owl or potoo. The sole human attribute it possesses is a pair of legs, which it employs to perch on branches.

Personality[]

Abura is a rather dense yokai, having recognizing Turbo Granny's cat doll body as a dog.

Relationships[]

Turbo Granny[]

Abura is well-acquainted with Turbo Granny. Upon being sought out by her, Abura complimented Turbo Granny on her new appearance and found it rather shockingly uncharacteristic of her to be willingly to help humans after she revealed that she needed its help to turn a miniature human back to full size. It also refers to Turbo Granny as "Turbo Baboo" (ターボバボオ Turbo Baboo?).

Synopsis[]

Volume 20 Omake[]

Abura is visited by Turbo Granny and remarks on her new appearance, mistakenly identifying her as a dog. Following Turbo Granny's annoyance as she corrects it, she demands to know from it how she can turn a miniature human back to normal. Abura reacts with shock to hear its fellow yokai wanting to help a human. However, Turbo Granny dismisses this accusation and clarifies that saving the human happens to be align with her objective to search for a certain someone.[1]

Abilities and Powers[]

Mental Prowess[]

Immense Intellect: Abura is evidently knowledgeable, as Turbo Granny sought its help to release Momo from her curse.

Trivia[]

  • The yokai is most likely taken from the real Abura-Sumashi, which lives in the mountainside and materializes in front of travellers. When it was still a human, the creature stole oil and was imprisoned to be turned into a yokai.
