WARNING! |
Bamora, Banga, Tome, Aja and Sumerian Men vs. Kur is a battle that took place on Sumer in the basecamp under the pyramid warp gate. Because Banga had heard a myth about a second homeland which could be accessed through the pyramid, her team makes its way to the camp, which is heavily guarded by the Kur feeding a Big Mama the Sumerian men prisoners. To stand a fighting chance, Bamora attempts to free them but things quickly go south.
Prologue[]
Aja and Tome fighting the Kur to reach the ocean.
After a devastating loss at the hands of the Kur, only Bamora, Banga, Tome and Aja are left standing in their platoon and they hide in a cave to recover. Still, their morale was at an all time low and Banga admitted that it was all over because they trusted other people when they should have looked only for themselves all along. Tome and Aja decided to leave the cave and see the ocean before they are eventually captured and killed by the Kur. Bamora however leaned on Banga's lap and begged her to kill her so the Kur couldn't take her. Banga pointed the rifle at her but she broke down into tears when she reminisced of her time as a cook at the royal palace where she used her hands to make people happy instead of killing. As they cried, Banga composed herself and was reminded of the myth she used to hear from the intellectual guests, mentioning a second homeland named Idea to which they migrated by using the pyramid. This gave hope to the two who run after Tome and Aja, helping them fight the Kur and sneak near the base camp of the aliens.
They navigated between the crates and containers of the camp, in which hundreds of enslaved sumerian men were being monitored by the Kur and led to the Big Mama so they could feed her and produce their exosuits. Bamora had never seen the male of her species and she proposed to free them, however Tome called her crazy and suggested to instead sneak inside the pyramid. Surprisingly, Banga agreed with Bamora, pointing out the numerical advantage of the enemy. Bamora took charge and rushed to the back of the camp to undo their restraints unnoticed as the grannies followed her lead.
Battle[]
Bamora watches Banga bleeding on the ground.
In the enormous crowd, Bamora moves in while laying low and reaches the back of a man, asking him not to move while she frees him from the restraints. Once done she moves on to the one next to him, however the previous man shockingly starts running despite their instructions, alerting the guards. The women panic and Banga orders to deploy a smoke screen to cover Bamora. Just then, a Kur wielding the Head Exosuit detects her and begins open fire, barely missing her and blowing off the head of a man instead. Tension breaks loose and all the men frenetically run forward to save their lives. Bamora manages to pick up her rifle and shoots at the flying Kur, piercing through the exosuit and blowing it up. Her allies jump in and defend Bamora from the incoming aliens while using the smoke as cover, with Tome screaming that they have to force their way through the army and run the pyramid. Just then, Takonoka Ru Patcho unleashes a volley of missiles headed to Bamora and Banga screams at her to move. Bamora freezes up so Banga has to jump in and push her out of the blast zone, although her battle suit receives a major blow and crumbles down. Bamora painfully tries to stand back up until she notices Banga laying next to her, whose armor has been completely broken apart and she doesn't show any sign of life. She shrieks at her mother repeatedly to get up as explosions flicker around the battlefield and Bamora desperately tries to pull Banga up and carry her to safety. Without warning, Aja charges in and forcefully grabs Bamora away from her as Tome covers them with support fire, screaming that Banga is beyond saving and she won't allow her to get killed too as Bamora is the child of all the sumerians.
Banga punches the Big Mama with the God of Sumer exosuit.
Bamora listens to her advice and tortorously advances while Aja and Tome cover her, making her way through the horde of sumerian men running in the opposite direction. Banga however isn't dead and she turns around to lay on her back, though her injuries are too agonizing and depriving her of the strength to stand up. She helplessly lays there as the Kur targets two of the sumerian men and blow up a container next to her, revealing the exosuit resembling the god of Sumer they had spotted ealier that day. Banga is left with no choice and crawls through the fire in the hopes to wield it. In the meantime Bamora keeps running and dodging the enemy attacks, crying as she looks back at all her memories with Banga. She reaches a opening and she freezes up when the giant Big Mama stands over her and desires to eat her, while Aja is taken hostage by Ta Kowasa's mechanical arms and Tome is crushed inside Ta Komeshi's shockwave field. Plenty more aliens surround Bamora and the Big Mama moves forward to swallow her in one bite. The girl can only think back of her dear memories with her family and screams her mother's name just as Banga reaches the Big Mama and obliterates her with a devastating hook thrown inside the colossal God of Sumer exosuit. Big Mama's corpse is hurled down the platform and sent crashing while Banga spins around and whips her tail at Ta Kowasa, Ta Komeshi and the other aliens holding Aja and Tome hostage, successfully freeing them. The sumerian men stop in their tracks, believing that their god has finally come to save them and they begin praying to Banga.
The sumerian men overwhelm the Kur's forces.
Banga however looks down on them, stating that she has no intention of saving them because they made no attempt to protect Bamora even though she was the first who put her life on the line to rescue them. Banga informs them that Bamora is the last child and Sumer's future rests on her hands and she begins inciting them to fight back against the invaders who stole their lands and butchered their families. She fans their flames of anger and shrieks to bite, throw rocks and defend Bamora with their very lives. The men are blinded by rage and rush forward as commanded by Banga, overwhelming the Kur forces. Ta Kowasa is lifted in the air and pummeled by the sumerians while they try to climb onto Takonoka Ru Patcho. They begin beating the aliens to death with their fists, grabbing batons, rifles or cooperating to skewer the enemies with sharp pillars, although many of them bite the dust too. Under Banga's protection, Aja orders Bamora to enter the pyramid though she worries about Tome's whereabouts. Tome, who's standing over a watchtower with a clear view of the ocean, reassures Bamora that she and Aja will cover her as they shoot at the flying Suda Ko and Head Exosuit wielders. Bamora understands and rushes inside the pyramid.
Aftermath[]
Bamora warps to Earth.
When Bamora enters it, she struggles to understand the language written on the star gate, which appears to be a more arcane and royal version of the sumerian language. Thankfully Banga enters after shrinking down in the kaiju, her body bleeding profusely due to her wounds, and successfully activates the warp gate. However the system reads that the gate has enough energy to only transfer one person so Bamora suggests Banga to enter because she's hurt. Banga ignores her and hurls her inside with the kaiju exosuit, sealing her as the warp gate charges up. Bamora tries to break out while Banga tells her that she should start a new life on Earth and marry a strong man to carry on the will of the sumerians. Seeing her child in such state calling her mother, Banga's maternal feelings burst through and she breaks down, stating that she loves Bamora like a daughter while the girl is transported to Idea.
Banga, Tome and Aja leave Sumer.
Banga is then reached by Hastur and his allies, angry that Bamora got away after stealing one of their suits and they are adamant to trace her down and kill her. The Jet Booster Exosuit Kur reasons that the slab can only be activated by a sumerian, which Banga refuses to do, so Hastur tortures Aja by inserting his sharp nails into her face, wondering if Banga knows about mental programming and how she will react. It's unclear what happens next, but it's possible that the sumerian men storm the palace and force Hastur's team to flee while Banga, Tome and Aja reunite and steal spaceships to depart to Idea.
Notes[]
- Some Kur from the advance unit appear such as Imotako and the Mantis Exosuit Kur, however they don't contribute to the battle so they are not listed. They may be added if the battle gets extended in the anime adaptation.
- Suda Ko and the Head Exosuit Kur's exosuits are mass produced so there's no guarantee that the ones fighting are the same one the Family fights on Earth. Still, since Hastur and the rest of the Kur Advance Unit is there, it's possible that Suda Ko and the Head Exosuit Kur are there too.
- It's unclear when this battle happens in the timeline. Bamora gets warped to Earth before her fight with Momo, Okarun and Kinta, however an undisclosed amount of time passes from her arrival on Earth to the fight. Additionally, it's unclear if there was any sort of time dilation during the warp gate. To make things simpler, this and the Sumerian Platoon vs. Kur fights are put before Chapter 1.
