Brave Force (ブレイブフォース Bureibu Fōsu?) are a hayashi rock band whose music is passionate enough to resonate with spirits.

Overview[]

Not much is known about this band, other than that they take requests to ward off evil spirits through heavy metal music. They are implied to be highly recommended hayashi to hire, as Seiko credited them to Momo on their performance being genuine, though at the same time, not so much renowned to where the famous spirit medium could recognize them upon meeting.

Commissions[]

Expel the Evil Eye out from Jiji
  • Status: Cancelled

Brave Force were hired by Seiko to help with exorcising the Evil Eye out from Jiji. In the midst of their performance, Jiji begged for them to spare the Evil Eye, having felt pity for the yokai. The performance was then cancelled by Seiko as she agreed to comply with Jiji's request.

Onbusuman Operation
  • Status: Success

Brave Force were hired by Seiko again for assistance with releasing an Onbusuman that was bound to Rin Sawaki. While the band, Seiko, Momo, and Okarun were being carried on a dashi as an army of spirits chased after them, they put on their musical performance to erect a barrier that would protect the dashi from the spirits as they pass through the streets. With Rin's help as a substitute for the vocalist, after he had been knocked out, the job was a success.

Abilities and Powers[]

Supernatural Abilities[]

Spectral Resonance [v · e]
Though they are not spiritually aware, the members of Brave Force are able to play special heavy metal music that is capable of reaching the realm of the dead, which helps to effectively counter against spirits.
Songs
Hunting Soul
TVアニメ『ダンダダン』HAYASii「Hunting_Soul」【lyric_video】
A song Brave Force played for Seiko's exorcism of the Evil Eye in order to keep the yokai entertained. In the anime, the song also attracted the attention of spirits from a nearby grave site.
Barrier Song
A song played for the cleansing of the Onbusuman bound to Rin Sawaki that had the power to cast an evil spirit warding barrier. While shown to be most effective against giant evil spirits, a flaw to the barrier is that it can easily be slipped through by evil spirits of average size due to the large mesh of the barrier being uneven. The barrier also can only be kept active if the vocalist continues to sing along with their bandmates, otherwise a substitute would have to fill in for them.

Trivia[]

HAYASii Infobox

The name of the band in the anime.

  • In the anime, Brave Force is instead named the HAYASii, most likely due to be the band being unnamed in the manga until the release of Dandadan Daizukan, which was a few days before the release of Episode 18.
  • Since they aren't at least spirit sensitive, Seiko states that it would be incorrect to classify Brave Force as spirit mediums.
    • As stated by Seiko, them not having any spiritual power or the ability to perceive spirits is actually to their advantage during exorcisms. As this protects them from being possessed or haunted by malevolent or violent spirits during such ceremonies.
  • In the English Dub for Episode 18, Toshiro's vocals for Hunting Soul were done by Marc Hudson of DragonForce and Hideji's guitar was done by the former guitarist of Megadeth, Marty Friedman, while the entire song was composed by Kensuke Ushio.
  • They visually resemble the Japanese rock band, X Japan.
    • The names of its members are also a reference to some of the X Japan members.
