The cursed house (呪いの家 noroi no ie?) refers to a secluded residence perched atop a steep hill, accessible by a long flight of stone steps. Once owned by the troublemaking Kito Family, the house was deceptively rented out to unsuspecting families who would eventually be offered by the landlords as human sacrifices to the Tsuchinoko that lurked beneath its foundations. It was also the place where the vengeful spirit known as the Evil Eye was bound. The house met its end when it was ultimately destroyed by Momo.

History[]
Past[]
In ancient times, the people of Byakuja Village crafted an omen foretelling the eruption of their volcano.
| — Village Prophecy[1] |
However, over the generations, the legend was gradually distorted, its true meaning lost beneath layers of fear and misinterpretation. The villagers came to believe that appeasing a creature they worship as the Tsuchinoko, a Mongolian Death Worm dwelling within the volcano, was the key to their survival. Convinced that the beast's hunger must be sated to prevent it from triggering the volcano's eruption, they began offering their own children as sacrifices to it. This ritual was upheld and endured for over two centuries by the Kito Family, whose role was never recorded in official history, allowing them to operate from the shadows well into the modern era. From this legacy, the Evil Eye was born, a vengeful yokai of one of the sacrificed children who swore vengeance on the Kito Family and unleash havoc upon humanity itself.
Byakuja Village Incident[]
Byakuja Village faced the sudden eruption of its long-dormant volcano following the Kito Family's failed plot to sacrifice Jiji, along with his friends Momo and Okarun, to the Tsuchinoko, which had been eliminated by Momo. Upon realizing the true meaning behind the village's distorted legend, Momo repurposed the Tsuchinoko's corpse, using its body as a makeshift hose to spray its phlegm onto the magma, thereby cooling it and protecting the village and its inhabitants from imminent destruction. This incident also led to the Evil Eye taking control of Jiji, who used his body to rampage until he was subdued by Seiko, Manjiro, and the Dover Demon.
The incident made national headlines. News outlets reported the arrest of the Kito Family after their long-hidden crimes were finally exposed. However, Naki Kito, the matriarch of the Kito Family, was still at large. The media also covered the extraordinary sighting of the Dover Demon's spaceship, piloted by Chiquitita, who assisted in deploying the Tsuchinoko's remains to cool the magma and avert disaster.
