We Picked Up A Kappa Monster (河童を拾いました Kappa o Hiroimashita?) is the twenty-sixth chapter of the Dandadan manga series.
Summary[]
Before getting the chance to say what she wanted to say to Okarun, Momo is interrupted by the arrival of her friends who heard about the incident earlier and came for an explanation. After Momo decides not to go into detail, Miko speculates as to what happened and voices her theory that Momo got into a fight with Aira over Okarun while in their underwear, only for Momo to deny this.
Meanwhile, Aira is consoled by her classmates while she tries to act innocent, much to her delight that everything was working to her favor. However, her satisfaction subdues after hearing her classmates badmouthing Momo, believing that she is the one responsible for harassing Aira and go off of the rumor spread about her as evidence that she is a horrible person. Feeling guilty, Aira confesses to her classmates that it was her who made up those lies about Momo and asks that they stop speaking bad about her, which then leads to Aira walking out of the classroom while her classmates are in shock.
After expressing her depressing outside the school, Aira is met by Momo who was wondering if she went through with her plan to pin the incident on her. Momo hears from her that she did but tells Aira that she could tell that she was lying since she had noticed that she is all alone, which annoys Aira. The two then find themselves confronted by the Dover Demon who speaks of earning income for his family. Momo and Aira put up their guard but see the Dover Demon falling down from exhaustion from the white substance oozing out of his body.
After having a dream about his son, the Dover Demon wakes up to find himself at the Ayase house being watched by Momo, Okarun, Seiko, and Aira. Momo tells her grandmother that the Dover Demon is proof that aliens exist but hears her denial after she assumes that the Dover Demon is a kappa. Having treated him, Aira asks what they should do with him since he may try to trick them again. The Dover Demon then causes the four to put up their guard, with Momo warning him that Seiko is with them for support, after he starts to move from his bed and looks down to see a plate of curry. Noticing this, Momo tells him that they made it for him even though they are not aware of what kind of food he eats. Having been given medical attention and been treated with kindness, the Dover Demon breaks down in tears and promises them that he will never try to harm them again.
