A Pulse-Pounding Night (ときめきナイトじゃんよ Tokimeki Naito jan yo?) is the seventy-eighth chapter of the Dandadan manga series.
Summary[]
After putting out two glasses of water outside the door, Seiko instructs Momo and Bamora to either put away or cover up the mirrors in the bedroom and to not leave it from ten to five in order to avoid Reiko Kashima. Though Momo believes that she will have no problem going to sleep from here on, Seiko gives her doubts and makes it clear to them, as she shuts the door, that they must absolutely not leave the room under any circumstances.
During the night, Momo finds herself unable to fall asleep compared to Bamora who has already done so, much to her annoyance. She then becomes shocked to hear a knocking sound coming from her window and hears Okarun's voice calling her name from behind the curtains. Momo questions Okarun as to why he was here at such a time. Okarun answers that he came to simply return the manga she loaned him but is now making the decision to stand outside as her guard after just recently learning from Seiko that she is being targeted by an evil spirit. While appreciative of this kind gesture, Momo tells Okarun to not worry about her, as she explains that doing this will only make her feel bad for him and further prevent her from falling asleep. Momo then becomes shocked to hear Okarun confessing his feelings towards her as the main reason why he wanted to protect her. After becoming flustered by this, Momo tells Okarun that she can't hear him properly and request that he tell her directly tomorrow, which he agrees to and wishes her good night. Eager to have him confess to her face, Momo tells Okarun that she wants to see him and prepares to go outside to meet him. However, Momo stops her hand from touching the doorknob after noticing the sign Seiko put up on the door that instructs her to not leave the room. She then asks Okarun if he was planning to hang out with Jiji tomorrow. Upon hearing Okarun refer to Jiji as "Jiji-san", Momo returns to bed after becoming convinced that the person she is talking to is Reiko Kashima since she knows that Jiji is the one person Okarun does not address politely, which she corrects the yokai on. This then leads to Reiko Kashima repeatedly using Okarun's voice to keep Momo from sleeping.
