The Danmanra Arc (團曼羅
Synopsis[]
The Search for Unji Zuma[]
As everyone is served dinner by Seiko, who request that they all leave after finishing their meals, Rin expresses her gratitude for their help in freeing her from the Onbusuman. However, she informs them that Mai has not passed on to the afterlife, as she is shown present and in a different form. Even so, Seiko reassures Rin that Mai will not be a source of trouble as she has transformed from a yokai into something akin to a guardian spirit. Mai explains that she cannot find peace until she sees that Rin becomes an idol and rejects her friend's current aspiration to become a novelist specializing in vampire fiction. Setting aside the issues with Rin and Mai, Okarun notifies Momo about Rin's discovery of his second kintama and that he needs her help to verify if it is still at the police box. After agreeing to accompany him to the police box after school tomorrow, Momo is taken aback by an apology from Rin, who had wrongly pegged her as a delinquent before recognizing her kindness and thoughtfulness, leaving Momo flustered by the unexpected praise. After Okarun remembers to tell Momo that he will see her the following day before leaving, Momo goes back to her room with her cheeks flushed, taking note of the fact that Okarun had made eye contact with her when he said his goodbye.
The next day, Momo becomes annoyed with Okarun averting his eyes from her as they walk to the police box. At the location, Momo detects no remnants of the kintama's aura, verifying that it has indeed been taken by someone. She and Okarun then go back to the Ayase house to ask the Turbo Granny for help, requesting (through a bribe) that she pretend to be lost property and search the police box's records for the person who claimed the kintama. Despite her successfully infiltration, the Turbo Granny returns to Momo and Okarun empty-handed due to her technological ignorance preventing her from searching the computer for the records. With her absence at the police box, Momo and Okarun go to a convenience store to buy a maneki-neko as a substitute for the Turbo Granny and unexpectedly runs into Rokuro Serpo. Rokuro reveals that he was banished by the Serpos after being deemed a defective product, due to his mentality diverging from his clone counterparts after his time spent with Momo during the events with the Kur, and is now working at the convenience store. Believing his nanoskin could be advantageous, Momo asks for Rokuro's help to enter the police box, while the front desk officer, Bega, is out on duty, and hack into the computer to discover who took Okarun's kintama. While Rokuro remains indoors, Momo and Okarun sees Bega returning from patrol and attempt to divert his attention by pretending to fight, resulting in them tumbling over each other and feeling embarrassed. However, Bega proceeds towards the police box and ends up engaging in a fistfight with Rokuro upon encountering him exiting the front door. Utilizing his nanoskin, Rokuro ends their scuffle by covertly tapping into Bega's phone and impersonating a police officer calling from a different station who verifies that he was assigned to check the lost property file at the police box. After successfully acquiring the data they needed, Rokuro informs Momo and Okarun that the person who took the kintama is a Renjaku High School student named Unji Zuma.
At Renjaku High School, Momo and Okarun become spectators to a brawl between two classes and are then approached by the students of Class B. Momo hopes to find Unji by asking the Class B students but is met with trouble when one student impolitely touches her hair, prompting Okarun to come to her defense. The leader of Class B steps in to reprimand the student for his rudeness towards a girl, extends an apology to Momo on the student's behalf, and complies to inform them that Unji can be found in Class D. Momo and Okarun meet with Class D's Toriumi, who reveals that Unji has been absent from school for approximately two weeks and that lately he seems been acting strange, describing him to be someone who is possessed. Momo inquires with Toriumi whether Unji possessed a golden ball, to which Toriumi affirms, adding that Unji had mentioned intentions of using the golden ball to "wreck the world." When Momo requests Okarun to change into his Turbo Granny form, Toriumi becomes terrified by the similarity to Unji and flees in a state of overwhelming fear. This response indicates to Momo and Okarun that Toriumi has spiritual sensitivity, probably from his earlier encounter with the golden ball, and suggests that Unji also has a form akin to Okarun's.
Later, Momo and Okarun try looking for Unji at his house but find him not home. As their search progresses, Okarun recalls Toriumi's words about Unji's desire to destroy the world, raising his and Momo's concerns that he might resemble the Evil Eye. Hearing a voice echoing from behind, Momo and Okarun turn around shocked to see an old man, with a sword in hand, running towards them and respond by trying to stop him from advancing. They are then confronted by a gang of delinquents looking for the old man. After Momo deflects an attack from a delinquent, Okarun transforms into his Turbo Granny form and warns the group to stay away from Momo. The gang are then taken aback when they see Okarun bearing a resemblance to Unji. Aware of their spiritual sensitivity, Momo inquires if the group knows Unji, but gets no response as they are solely focused on retrieving the elderly man. Momo insists on keeping the old man until her question is answered, leading to the gang leader threatening her. However, adhering to his principle of not harming women, the gang leader agrees to escort them to their base where Unji is at but insists that the old man come along as well.
At their hideout, the gang leads Momo, Okarun, and the elderly man to a diorama. They state that Unji is trapped inside and believe that the only way to free him is for someone else to take his place, which is the role they intend for the old man who had previously been inside before Unji. The old man, his voice filled with terror, opposes to going back inside, revealing that he had been imprisoned within the monstrous inner world of the diorama since childhood and that he only managed to escape by inadvertently trading places with a girl from the gang, who also found her way out after Unji willingly entered to "wreck the world". The last bit of information provides Momo and Okarun with insight into Toriumi's statement about Unji and they also learn from the gang that Unji received the kintama from a mysterious man who wished to assist him. As the gang attempts to forcibly return the old man to the diorama, Momo, after dodging the old man's defensive sword swings, loses her balance and accidentally touches the diorama, resulting in her being transporting into its inner world, much to Okarun's shock.
The World of Danmanra[]
After being accidentally transported to the inner realm known as Danmanra, Momo wanders the land in search of Unji. Momo's quest brings her to a place called National Border Hill where there is a slope wall with ropes and an array of weapons at the front entrance, with her choice to pick from being a sword resembling the one the old man wielded. Based on what she has seen so far, Momo comes to the realization that the diorama is actually a game, the same conclusion Okarun comes up with in the real world after noticing a figurine of Momo on the diorama, and finds herself confronted by a giant knight bursting through the walls. As the giant knight begins his assault, Momo prepares to defend herself with her psychokinetic abilities. However, after her powers become unresponsive, Momo finds herself in peril against her enemy and cries to Okarun to save her. Just as the giant knight swings his sword at Momo, an unknown person with yokai-like powers swiftly comes in to grab her out of the way of the attack and defeat the giant knight. The individual then asked Momo why she has come to Danmanra. Upon learning that she was searching for someone named Unji Zuma, the individual disclosed that he himself is Unji Zuma.
Having finally come face-to-face with Unji, Momo request that he return Okarun's kintama over to her. Unji tells Momo that he can't give up the kintama since it is the only way for him to activate his powers. Momo then asks who gave him the kintama. Unji responds that a man he met at a library, whose face he cannot remember, entrusted it to him and with the task of destroying Danmanra on his behalf due to the diorama not permitting him entry. After Unji reveals that he has been occupied with slaying monsters, Momo explains to him that the diorama is actually a game, suggesting that escape might be possible by completing each level. Before attempting to climb the sloped wall, Unji asks Momo to reveal her name, but is declined unless he gives her the kintama.
After reaching the summit, Momo and Unji discover a dessert constructed obstacle course. Before moving forward, Unji feels obliged to offer his pants to Momo so that he won't have to worry about her skirt from this point onwards, an offer which Momo accepts. However, this results in the kintama accidently dropping out of his pocket and down to the obstacle course. Momo and Unji try to retrieve it but are impeded by several frog shikigami and the Death Pâtissier, a colossal chef who targets anyone not touching a dessert he calls out. After enduring long enough to fend off the frogs and dodge the Death Pâtissier's assault to recover the kintama, Momo becomes able to activate her powers and terminate the Death Pâtissier's rampage by annihilating him with her Moe Moe Tri-Beam. As a result of the Death Pâtissier's defeat, scrolls materialize before Momo and Unji, announcing that they have obtained the Nom Nom Bongo, a card that allows them to use the power of the sweets they consume. Curious, Momo and Unji test the card out by licking a lollipop and eating a doughnut, which leads to Momo's hand turning sticky candy and Unji's legs transforming into springs made of doughnuts. Momo then pulls out the card she was given upon her arrival to Danmanra and finds that the image of the Dark Knight that Unji previously defeated is shown. After tapping it reveals the function to materialize a shield, Momo realizes that the way the game is played is that they must fill out all four circles of the card by defeating the four bosses of Danmanra. With their powers used up, Unji suggests using each card's ability for the time being.
Momo and Unji confront the next boss, Medusa, compelling them to ascend a tower using doughnuts spring legs as the creature attempts to devour them. Since the Carmine card proved ineffective against Medusa, with the Dark Knight's sword unable to pierce the monster's stony hide, Momo and Unji resort to the Nom Nom Bongo card. Utilizing the card, Momo and Unji consume spicy chips to acquire the power of fire breathing, though their attempt to burn the creature fail as it becomes resistant to the flames. Trapped at the tower's summit with no escape, Momo hurls a wrapped piece of candy at Medusa, intending for the monster to consume it and take on its sticky properties, a tactic she conceived upon discovering that the effects of the Nom Nom Bongo card also apply to foes, evidenced earlier by Medusa's skin altering to mimic the candy Momo had previously tossed as a diversion. As its body became too frail to resist attacks, Momo and Unji succeeded in defeating Medusa with their fiery breath and the Dark Knight's sword.
In the real world, Okarun hurries to the Ayase residence to enlist Seiko's aid, aiming to rescue Momo and deter Unji's gang from making the reckless decision of entering the diorama to save Unji. However, he arrives to find out from the Turbo Granny that Seiko is out on work. Okarun then enlists for the Turbo Granny's help, offering to give her anything she wants, which she accepts. After verifying with Okarun that no black cloth was present near the diorama, the Turbo Granny leaves with him, joined by Rin who has been assigned by the yokai to transport some equipment needed. Along the way, they run into Bega who pursues them, demanding that they stop as it is pass curfew for students such as Okarun and Rin to be out.
Momo and Unji arrive in a city called Ice Town and decide to spend their time dining and resting at an inn, with the residential frog shikigami being non-hostile unlike the ones they encountered at National Border Hill. The next day, Momo and Unji find that their powers have fully recharged and proceed to journey off until they reached the final stage.
At the final stage, Momo and Unji are tasked with shattering a crystal inside a castle, a mission that requires them to get past an army guarding the fortress. After establishing their own army and assigning roles, Momo and Unji lead their forces into battle, initially gaining the upper hand. However, the tide turns when the opposing army's beasts are deployed, decimating a large portion of Momo and Unji's soldiers. As tensions rise, Unji's gang and the students from Renjaku High burst onto the scene to join in the fray, with Unji's followers wanting to support their leader, while the Renjaku High Schoolers are motivated to confront Unji. While the two groups recklessly fight the army, Momo and Unji proceed to the castle to destroy the crystal. Just as Unji slashes the crystal with his sword, Okarun and the Turbo Granny rush in too late to warn Momo and Unji not to destroy it. The Turbo Granny discloses that the diorama is, in fact, a cursed trunk designed to imprison a yokai, and the crystal and the bosses they defeat are actually seals.
Umbrella Boy Unji's Rampage[]
After the crystal's destruction triggers the collapse of the castle, the Fairy-Tale Card, the yokai imprisoned within the cursed trunk, is freed and offers thanks to his liberators. Recognizing the yokai present, the Turbo Granny yells out to everyone to close their eyes to avoid the Fairy-Tale Card's ability to possess them. After she is also recognized by the Fairy-Tale Card, in light of her being inside a doll, the Turbo Granny tells the Fairy-Tale Card that she has caught on to his plot, figuring out that he had modified the cursed trunk into a board game to trick people into breaking the seals on his behalf. Momo finds this to be an outrage and learns from the Fairy-Tale Card that he has no intention on having anyone exit the cursed trunk, convinced that the delinquents inside prefer remaining in the inner world than going back to a society that shuns them as outcasts. Yielding to the Fairy-Tale Card's influence that he and the other delinquents would like to turn the real world into chaos, one of Unji's followers has himself overtaken by the yokai and attacks Unji. This causes Unji to accidently open one eye and see the Fairy-Tale Card as someone he is familiar with, leading to him succumbing to the Fairy-Tale Card's possession as his powers begin to take over.
As Unji starts to transform, the Turbo Granny becomes startled by the figure, recognizing it as a yokai called Umbrella Boy, and asks Momo whether she can use her powers at the moment. Momo claims she is unable to do so without having the kintama, which remains in Unji's possession. Upon having Unji assume his new form as Umbrella Boy, the Fairy-Tale Card announces his intentions to use Unji's power to escape the cursed trunk and destroy the world. In response, Momo urgently instructs everyone to activate the Rock-hard Costinus card, which will turn their bodies to stone, as she notices Umbrella Boy Unji readying a shockwave blast aimed at them. Upon realizing that Unji is no longer constrained to using his umbrella power only twice, the Turbo Granny discloses that the Fairy-Tale Card is able to unleash the full potential of any human it possesses at the cost of their body being destroyed from constant usage. As Umbrella Boy Unji prepares to fire another shockwave, Momo, Okarun, and the Turbo Granny utilize the Rock-hard Costinus card to endure the assault, although Momo sustains minor damage to her shoulder. Witnessing Unji's struggle to maintain control, Momo shouts for him to come to his senses and rushes forward, wielding the Dark Knight's shield and sword. The Fairy-Tale Card, speaking through the Umbrella Boy Unji form, refutes Momo's assumption that he is controlling Unji, clarifying that he is merely enabling Unji to express his true nature, which is to destroy the world and everything around him. As Umbrella Boy Unji prepares to fire another shockwave at Momo from above, Momo prepares to use the Rock-hard Costinus card once again to withstand the attack. However, when the card slips from her grasp, Momo absorbs the full brunt of Umbrella Boy Unji's attack, leaving her severely injured and unconscious on the ground.
Okarun panics to see Momo severely wounded and carries her away from danger as Umbrella Boy Unji continues his onslaught. After his card slips out of his hand from using the Rock-hard Costinus ability to withstand one of Umbrella Boy Unji's shockwaves, Okarun attempts to protect Momo with his own body as Umbrella Boy Unji readies for another assault. Okarun then finds himself protected by Rokuro who uses his nanoskin to create a convenience store desk to block the shockwave. Rokuro tells Okarun that he ended up in Danmanra while pursuing him during his getaway from Bega. Bega also appears, intent on arresting the individuals he has been pursuing, much to Okarun and the Turbo Granny's shock. After he starts to take damage from Rokuro's high output particle beam and Bega's gunfire, Umbrella Boy Unji takes to the sky to avoid their attacks while simultaneously making aerial assaults. Convinced that they stand no chance against Umbrella Boy Unji, the Turbo Granny instructs Okarun to devise a plan to retrieve his kintama from Umbrella Boy Unji in order to harness his powers and join the fight while she contacts Rin from the other side.
After moving Momo to the platform, Okarun rushes back to the battlefield and manages to come up with a plan to retrieve his kintama back. In need of assistance from Rokuro's nanoskin, Okarun asks him to create a jetpack to engage Umbrella Boy Unji in aerial combat. However, the plan falls short as Umbrella Boy Unji outmaneuvers him in the sky. Realizing that there is a way for him to use the air to his advantage, Okarun requests Rokuro to construct a heater potent enough to warm the surrounding area, thereby creating a tornado from the rising heated air propelled by Umbrella Boy Unji's wind gusts, which ensnares the yokai within it as long as he holds onto his umbrella. Having successfully brought Umbrella Boy Unji back to the ground, Okarun teams up with Bega and Rokuro for a close-quarters battle to retrieve his second kintama, enabling him to activate his Turbo Granny form.
Now being able to assume his Turbo Granny form, Okarun engages in combat against Umbrella Boy Unji. With help from Rokuro using his psychokinesis to levitate rubble in the air, after Umbrella Boy Unji once again takes to the sky, Okarun uses them as footholds to reach Umbrella Boy Unji, bring his foot down to his head to send him crashing to the ground, and puts an end to the yokai's rampage with an All-Out dropkick that sends him crashing backwards to the platform. After Umbrella Boy Unji is brought down, Okarun notices the sudden onset of rain and sees a boy near Umbrella Boy Unji pleading for him to stop bullying his older brother. As Okarun begins to ponder the scenes unfolding in his mind, Bega approaches and recognizes Unji under Umbrella Boy Unji's mask, causing him to express confusion over his presence as he claims that he has been searching for him for ages.
An Unforgiving World[]
Following their father's death due to overwork, Unji strives to protect his younger brother Futa as their family starts to fall on hard times. Worried about Futa after he doesn't return home, Unji hurries outside to look for him and finds out that he died near the river. Later, Unji is taken to an amusement park by his mother where he enjoys himself. However, the trip ends with his mother committing suicide by leaping towards an oncoming train and Unji surviving after managing to free himself from his mother's grip as she tried to have him die along with her.
After being placed in an orphanage, Unji is beaten up by a few of the children who take an instant dislike to him, leading him to retaliate and run away. In his teenage years, Unji becomes a delinquent gang leader who possesses a deep-seated anger towards the world. Seeking to provoke conflict, Unji incited his followers and those forced to serve under him to attack the police. This action leads to his arrest and subsequent sentence to juvenile detention. By the time he is released, Unji is met by Bega and is escorted to his apartment where he learns from him that he is now under his custody. Upon recognizing the man as the police officer who arrested him, Unji attempts to punch him in an act of revenge, only to be thwarted after Bega swiftly throws him to the floor.
Unji grows frustrated living with Bega and repeatedly tries to attack him with an umbrella, only to fail every time the man sees through his attempts. In one of his attempts, Unji tries to land a hit on Bega while he sleeps. However, after noticing a photo of him with his wife and daughter next to him, Unji chooses to not go through with his attempt and leave the room. While having dinner with Bega the next day, Unji inquiries about his family and the reason he chose to adopt him. Bega confides in Unji that his wife and daughter fell victim to a street homicide committed by a man with a grudge against society. While acknowledging his initial desire for vengeance, Bega explains to Unji that he refrained from retaliating, choosing instead to remain unaffected by the world's negativity, as his late daughter's expectations for him as a good man was what sustained him. Bega, having chosen to take him in for this very reason, tells Unji that he must always hold onto kindness and compassion even in hard times, and makes a solemn promise to protect him. Unable to accept Bega's words, Unji walks outside and stands at the site of his younger brother's accident.
As Unji gets ready to leave, he spots a boy being harassed by a few children who are throwing his lunch around. Unji then becomes stunned to see the boy jumping into the river to retrieve his lunch after the children tossed it into the water, evoking memories of Futa's accident. It was then that Bega appeared, diving into the river to save the boy from drowning. In a rush of panic to chase after them, Unji finds himself face to face with the yokai Umbrella Boy, who appears before him as Futa, proposing to lend him his umbrellas. With his acceptance of Umbrella Boy's powers, Unji uses the yokai's umbrellas to propel himself to Bega and the boy and fish them out of the river. After the rescue, Unji and Bega share a moment of relief, as the ones they sought to save managed to survive the ordeal unharmed.
The next day, Unji and Bega visit the family grave of the former. On the way, Bega becomes curious as to how Unji managed to save him yesterday but receives no answer from Unji, as the young man thought of him as foolish person for his impulsive leap into the river. While praying, Unji confides in Bega, recounting how he and his mother relied on Futa's bright spirit to endure their struggles and admits to feeling guilty for surviving, aware that his mother's will to live was deeply tied to his younger brother's presence. Amidst Unji's sorrow, Bega insists that he must go on living and accompanies him back home for dinner.
Game Over[]
At the same time as Momo awakens, with tears streaming down her face from the visions of Unji's memories, Bega strives to bring Unji back to reality while the Fairy-Tale Card begins to take over his body, intending to use Umbrella Boy's powers as a means to escape the cursed trunk. After meeting with Momo, Okarun listens to her self-reproach for the events caused by her unsealing the cursed trunk and reassures her that everything will turn out okay in the end. After reaching out to Rin through the Serpo communicator, Turbo Granny gets her assurance that everything is set in the real world to facilitate everyone's exit from the cursed trunk.
Rin is instructed by the Turbo Granny to carefully move the cursed trunk over to the black cloth, enabling her to safely remove the figurines. Needing a way to move it without getting sent to the inner world, the girl, once dispatched to Danmanra, attempts to use sticks as a solution. However, this turns out to be an ineffective method as the girl ends up being sent to Danmanra. The Turbo Granny then instructs Rin to have Mai use a few black cords they brought with them to move the cursed trunk, seeing as how she is a yokai who is immune to curses. However, Mai states her refusal to listen to the Turbo Granny and fuses herself onto Rin as an idol outfit to have her fulfil the task. Although initially hesitant to sing, Rin gathers the courage to perform, successfully extracting the figurines from the cursed trunk by utilizing Mai's Onbusuman ability to manipulate gravity.
Though everyone is lifted up to the sky, Momo remains the only one anchored to the ground due to her consuming the food of Danmanra. With not even the kintama helping to have her ascend, the Turbo Granny chooses to stay behind with Momo, offering her her luck, and tells Okarun that he will have to quickly defeat the Fairy-Tale Card to free them due to the yokai being the creator of the inner world. Hesitant to let go of Momo's hand as she urges him to face the Fairy-Tale Card, Okarun confesses to Momo that the time they spent separated, even for a short time, was challenging for him and becomes compelled to professes his love for her. While taking in Okarun's words to her, Momo forces him to release his grip and have him ascend to the sky. She then shouts to Okarun, urging him to defeat the Fairy-Tale Card so that he can properly confess to her once she and the Turbo Granny are freed. Okarun promises this Momo as he ascends to the sky with Rokuro and Bega.
In the real world, the Fairy-Tale Card, Unji, and the delinquents become the first to be released from the cursed trunk, much to the yokai's delight to finally be free. After giving his gratitude to an unconscious Unji for his part in his release, the Fairy-Tale Card identifies Rin as a possessor of a great power that has the potential to destroy the world and makes an attempt to possess her by infiltrating her mind, However, Mai, asserting her role as Rin's producer, thrusts him against the wall, resolute in preventing the yokai from puppeteering Rin. Following this, the Fairy-Tale Card uses his power to erase Rin's mouth, silencing her song and consequently causing Okarun, Rokuro, and Bega to plummet briefly in Danmanra. This continues until Rokuro activates his nanoskin, forming jet booster arms that enable him to fly and support Okarun and Bega with his legs. The delinquents charge in to attack the Fairy-Tale Card, only to fall prey to his control over body parts and mind control, rendering their efforts ineffective. When a mind-controlled student closes in on Rin to attack, Count Saint-Germain swiftly arrives to deflect the assault and place talismans from the black cloth on the students' heads, rendering them immobile. The Fairy-Tale Card, recognizing Count Saint-Germain, questions his interference, despite knowing his plan involving Umbrella Boy for his release. While the Fairy-Tale Card acknowledges him, Count Saint-Germain on the other hand asks for the yokai's identity while charging his sword with dark lightning.
Following a sharp retort to Count Saint-Germain's confusion regarding his identity, the Fairy-Tale Card utilizes his power to make the man's eyes vanish and launches an attack with his buds. Despite losing his sight, Count Saint-Germain skillfully deflects the buds with his sword and employs his Jumping Crone and Black Haircutter vials to strike the Fairy-Tale Card, restoring Rin's mouth. However, this restoration is short-lived as the Fairy-Tale Card quickly regenerates his mouth card from one of his buds. Knowing that he can continuously restore his cards, the Fairy-Tale Card tells Count Saint-Germain that it is pointless for him to try to defeat him on his own and questions his motives for trying to kill him despite all that he has done to free him from the cursed trunk. Count Saint-Germain, evading the Fairy-Tale Card's attacks and the controlled high schoolers, gives no answer to this and criticizes the Fairy-Tale Card's arrogance. He then compares the yokai to the pairings of karuta cards and recognizes that the key to victory lies in simultaneously destroying all of his cards, which he should be able to accomplish with the help of Okarun, Rokuro, and Bega after they are freed from the cursed trunk.
As he runs with Rokuro and Bega from the Fairy-Tale Card, Okarun discloses his predicament of being unable to shift into his Turbo Granny form after using All-Out twice. During this moment, Count Saint-Germain approaches him, proposing a collaboration to vanquish the Fairy-Tale Card. Rokuro then asks Count Saint-Germain why he is here upon recognizing him. Upon seeing Unji badly injured on the ground, Bega rushes to his unconscious body, frantically attempting to resuscitate him. After a profound encounter with Futa in his subconscious, culminating in a heartfelt farewell, Unji awakens to the sound of Bega's earnest pleas for him to open his eyes. This then prompts Unji tells him to quiet himself, firmly stating that he will not let himself die, which brings great relief to Bega who takes his hand and reassures him that they will return home. After the Fairy-Tale Card repairs the eye card that Rokuro's particle beam had destroyed, Count Saint-Germain informs him and Okarun that they need to attack the yokai's paired cards simultaneously in order to defeat him. Okarun then questions how Count Saint-Germain knows about his Turbo Granny power after the man asks if he is able to use in this situation. However, mindful that Momo is trapped in the cursed trunk, Okarun puts this aside and forces himself to invoke the Turbo Granny's power, disregarding the strain it causes him. Count Saint-Germain then directs Okarun and Rokuro to target specific cards, assigning the face card to Okarun and the eye card to Rokuro, but instructs Rokuro to wait for his signal before he and Okarun attack together. Unji also lends his assistance in the situation by conjuring one of his umbrellas, catching the Fairy-Tale Card off guard, who had presumed him dead. This move inspires the yokai to strive for self-control to escape. However, Unji remains impervious to the corruption about his mother, asserting he could never scorn her for all she did to protect her family. Infuriated by Unji's resistance, the Fairy-Tale Card is dismissed by Count Saint-Germain, who suggests they disregard its taunts and orders a joint attack on the yokai. The Fairy-Tale Card is ultimately defeated after all of his cards are destroyed through the united efforts of Okarun, Rokuro, Unji, and Count Saint-Germain, with Okarun declaring his resolve during the attack.
Following the Fairy-Tale Card's defeat, Okarun urges Rin to quickly use her gravity manipulation powers to quickly release Momo from the cursed trunk. As the inner world nears total destruction, Momo clings to Turbo Granny and notices her body starting to disintegrate. They then begin to rise to the air, realizing that Rin's powers are freeing them as the Fairy-Tale Card is no longer active. Momo watches Turbo Granny grow in size during their ascent. Yet, when they return to the real world, Momo is shocked to discover she has become tiny, now sitting in Okarun's palm, to their mutual astonishment.
Meanwhile, the Fairy-Tale Card, in his powerless state, attempts to flee but has his path blocked by Count Saint-Germain who refuses to let him escape. Reminded of their agreement, where the Fairy-Tale Card promised his power in exchange for help to escape the cursed trunk, Count Saint-Germain declares that the Fairy-Tale Card's life will be spared only if he admits defeat. The Fairy-Tale Card, finding solace in this simple solution, acknowledges his loss and rejoices in his newfound freedom. However, his joy turns into agony and rage when Count Saint-Germain stabs him with a blade to extract his power. As the Fairy-Tale Card clamors for the return of his powers, Count Saint-Germain reveals his quest to uncover all worldly mysteries and acquire all things supernatural, including Dandadan, and inquires if the yokai is aware of it.
Whole Again[]
In the hospital, Bega addresses Unji regarding his reticence about the cursed trunk and his umbrella powers, to which Unji explains that neither he nor the detective would have accepted the narrative had he would have shared with them. He then explains that, out of compassion, he allowed the elderly man, who was confined by the cursed trunk, to reside in their home and that he had notified Baison at the police box of his absence. When Bega mentions his awareness of Unji's visit to the police box, having seen his name in the lost and found records, Unji recounts his trip to retrieve the kintama, as someone had informed him that it was essential for entering the trunk, although he cannot recall who provided this information to relay to Bega. Unji is then visited by the old man and his gang, but advises them to refrain from entering his room simultaneously to prevent disturbing the other patients.
At Goro Stamina Booster, Seiko treats the Renjaku high school students to a meal but is frustrated that it will cost her an entire paycheck, prompting her to insist that they eat their fill to justify the cost. Meanwhile, Aira finds the shrunken Momo adorable and takes the opportunity to play with her in her dollhouse, much to Momo's annoyance. Jiji questions Momo for not reaching out to him for help, to which Okarun admits he was too rushed to save Momo to think of it and apologizes. After Jiji demands a promise from Momo to seek his assistance in the future, a blush-inducing recollection of Okarun's confession is met by both Momo and Okarun. Aira and Kinta support Jiji's stance, encouraging Momo to depend on them as well. Momo agrees to their demands after Jiji shares how important she is to him, a sentiment noted by Okarun. Mai then becomes prompted to comment that they don't need more troublemakers, asserting that she and Rin are enough, which annoys Aira. After Momo confirms her recovery after everything that had happened, Jiji asks Seiko about restoring Momo's size. Seiko admits that she has no solution but thanks Okarun and the Turbo Granny for their help with Momo's predicament and vows to find a way to return her to normal.
After reclaiming the second kintama, the group initiates the traditional ritual to return it to Okarun's crotch via a baseball game, despite his protests and questions about a more conventional method. Turbo Granny, serving as the pitcher, throws Okarun's kintama, certain that Seiko, the batter, will not hit it. Seiko swings, having practiced extensively since their first game, but is taken aback when the kintama curves unexpectedly, a trick by Turbo Granny. Nonetheless, Seiko hits the kintama, sending it soaring, to everyone's astonishment. She then urges everyone to search for it. With both kintama recovered, Okarun thanks those who aided in their retrieval. He also apologizes to Momo for her reduced size due to the search, but she reassures him, hopeful for a resolution. In contrast, Aira is enchanted by Momo's smaller form, eager to dress her in various tiny outfits. Turbo Granny, having upheld her end of the bargain, requests the return of her spiritual powers. Despite Aira's worry about the challenges Okarun might face, he gratefully restores Turbo Granny's powers with Seiko's help. Though Aira and Jiji sense a threatening aura from Turbo Granny's restored powers, fearing an attack from her might justify calling upon the Evil Eye for assistance, Turbo Granny diminishes her power's aura, explaining she has no reason to stay after achieving her goal, and takes her leave.
