Synopsis[]
The Kito family has been offering sacrifices to the Mongolian Death Worm for 200 years, and Jiji's house is built on top of the sacrificial altar. Momo and Okarun, controlled by the psychic waves, try to commit suicide, but Jiji attempts to carry them to safety. However, the Mongolian Death Worm looms before them. Just when it looks like everything is done for, the Evil Eye shows himself...
Plot[]
After observing Okarun behaving oddly in front of him, Jiji anticipates the Tsuchinoko approaching, swiftly moves both him and Momo away from its path, and realizes that it can detect sound within the house. Subsequently, Jiji prevents Okarun from inflicting harm upon himself with a pair of scissors. Hearing his suicidal intentions, Jiji flashes back to when his mother expressed similar thoughts after he intervened to stop her and his father from taking their own lives. Meanwhile, Momo also contemplates suicide by attempting to stab herself with a shard of glass. Luckily, her attempt fails after Turbo Granny suddenly appears between Momo and the glass, much to Turbo Granny's shock and dismay. Jiji then heeds Turbo Granny's advice to restrain both Momo and Okarun to prevent any further suicide attempts and learns from her that the Tsuchinoko is responsible for emitting psychic waves that induce suicidal thoughts in the inhabitants of the house, leading him to understand the fate of his parents. Jiji then inquires of Turbo Granny as to why he remains unaffected, however, before she can respond, he is attacked by Momo. With no other choice, Jiji carries Momo, Okarun, and Turbo Granny and races around the layer of houses as he evades the Tsuchinoko's assaults. Upon rushing outside, he encounters the Tsuchinoko. He then looks away, expecting the worse. However, he turns back to see the evil spirit that had been haunting him floating directly before him.
After perceiving the evil spirit before him, Jiji notices that Momo and Okarun have regained their sanity. Once the evil spirit turns his head to face the trio, much to their shock, Turbo Granny cautions them against making eye contact, explaining that the evil spirit is known as the "Evil Eye", a yokai that coerces individuals into taking their own lives, which at the moment is counteracting the Tsuchinoko's psychic suicide waves. With both the Tsuchinoko and the Evil Eye locked in a standoff, Okarun seizes the moment to assault the worm by entering his Turbo Granny form and launching himself to decapitate it. However, the Tsuchinoko regenerates its head and resumes its rampage. As Jiji and Momo flee, Jiji questions the Evil Eye whether he was the one who caused his parents' to commit suicide. The Evil Eye then establishes eye contact with Jiji, revealing memories of his childhood when he watched kids playing outside while he remained imprisoned before the time came for him to be sacrificed, and how he spent years as a spirit watching former resident families living beneath the Tsuchinoko being sacrificed by the Kito Family, with one sacrificed child leading him to become the Evil Eye.
As Jiji reacts with frustration after finishing viewing the Evil Eye's memories, Momo attempts to remove the yokai from him. Jiji, however, tells her stop after he perceives the Evil Eye as a benevolent entity based on the memories he has witnessed, realizing that he has been suffering for an extended period. Momo follows Jiji as he hurries down to the base of the disordered generational houses where the corpse of the Evil Eye is confined, coming to the realization that he has been safeguarding him while imprisoned there. Upon reaching the bottom, Momo finds herself caught in a dispute between Turbo Granny and Jiji regarding the trustworthiness of the Evil Eye. The three are soon electrocuted and ensnared in a sticky mucus by the Tsuchinoko, who concluded its pursuit of Okarun after he exhausts himself. Momo readies herself to escape with Jiji but turns back to discover him unconscious. Jiji finds himself with the Evil Eye during his confinement and chooses to apologize for not fully comprehending him previously. Along with this, he complies to play with him as he so desired, which brings joy to the Evil Eye as this allows him to take over Jiji, causing him to scream in pain. Momo and Turbo Granny find themselves powerless as the Tsuchinoko descends to consume them. However, the Tsuchinoko is attacked by the Evil Eye after it seizes control of Jiji's body. Following this, he declares his intention to utilize Jiji's body to annihilate all humans.
Once the Evil Eye manifests with Jiji's body under his control, Momo is alerted by Turbo Granny to prepare her psychic powers. Noticing her, the Evil Eye kicks Momo back towards the wall and keeps her pinned. Then recognizes the cat doll accompanying her as yokai and questions whether Turbo Granny is her servant, which she vehemently denies. Momo pleads for Jiji to revert to his normal state, only for the Evil Eye to inform her that Jiji's body now acts as his vessel and will be used to bring chaos to humans. Shifting his attention towards the Tsuchinoko, the Evil Eye constructs a dome in the shape of a house, formed from the resentments of those who were sacrificed, to obstruct the electricity unleashed by it and transforms the house into a sphere to kick it towards the giant worm as a projectile, forcing it to retreat underground after taking multiple damage. After becoming confused by the unfolding events, Momo discovers from Turbo Granny that Jiji was regarded as an ideal vessel for the Evil Eye due to his incredible spiritual power, which was hinted by Seiko at the time of his arrival at her house, and that she must now remain vigilant, as he is not aligned with them. Momo is then attacked again by the Evil Eye and is at risk of being hit with a grudge ball. However, Okarun intervenes to block the Evil Eye from kicking towards Momo. He then states his anger towards the Evil Eye for harming Momo.
