Synopsis[]
Seiko teaches Jiji how to hold back the Evil Eye. However, Jiji struggles keeping him at bay. Jiji turns into Evil Eye and assaults Momo. With some quick thinking, Momo somehow manages to get through the situation, while Okarun is determined to get stronger so he can send Evil Eye packing.
Plot[]
Okarun, Miko, and Muko get a table at Moe Moe Kikoho, with Momo as their waitress. Throughout their meal, Miko and Muko tease and critique Momo's service. At the end, they press Momo and Okarun together for a group photograph, with the two of them at either of the ones sides. Momo vents her frustration at Miko and Muko for coming to embarrass her, as well as misleading her into thinking the job they recommended was at a regular restaurant. After commending her on her first day, Miko and Muko comply to leave her alone and takes Okarun with them. However, when Okarun expresses a desire to stay, they exchange knowing glances and tell him to "take his time" before departing without him. Okarun apologizes to Momo for barging in on her work and complies to stay until her shift ends to walk her home. Despite the offer, Momo tells Okarun not to trouble himself since she believes that she is capable of walking home alone, prompting him to comply to leave. Later, Momo prepares to walk home after her shift ends and finds Okarun returning to her, insisting that she not walk alone at night. He then instinctively tries reaching for her hand as they prepare to walk together, only to quickly retract it after realizing what he was about to do and makes a comment about how cold it is. Unbothered by his gesture, Momo grabs his hand claiming its to keep them warm, much to Okarun's shock.
Back at the house, Jiji succeeds in his ki training after preventing Manjiro from budging him and keeping the Evil Eye suppressed. Following this, Momo and Okarun return home. Seiko asks where the two were, to which Momo mentions her new job. Jiji, eager to talk about his success in suppressing the Evil Eye, and Aira, who questions why the two were walking together, accidentally collide as they run up to them, resulting in Aira's boba spilling onto Jiji and triggering his transformation into the Evil Eye.
Before anyone can pour hot water onto Jiji, the Evil Eye generates his cursed house to block it and trap Momo's hands, rendering her unable to splash him with the hot water thermos to suppress him. Seiko attempts to penetrate the barrier with a talisman, but is repelled back. As the Evil Eye approaches her, Momo uses her psychic powers to push him away from her. In response, the yokai reduces the space of his cursed house to draw him closer to her and strangle her. At the last moment, Momo spits out the hot water she had been holding in her mouth, returning Jiji to his normal state. After Jiji apologizes to Momo, Okarun moves in to push him away to check on her. Seiko covers Jiji with a towel, assuring him the incident was not his fault. Jiji then notices both Seiko's burnt hand and the closeness between Okarun and Momo after the encounter. Later that night, Aira apologizes to Momo for the incident she accidentally caused but is reassured by her that it was nothing she should feel guilty about. In the boy's room, Okarun and Jiji face their sleeping bags away from the other, with Okarun clenching his fist.
The next morning, Mr. Mantis Shrimp is visited by Okarun at work. Okarun becomes taken aback to see the alien's human disguise and impulsively asks him a few questions about aliens living on Earth. When Mr. Mantis Shrimps asks what he wanted from him, Okarun gets back on track and kneels requesting to become his apprentice, specifically wanting to learn how to throw a punch. Mr. Mantis Shrimp declines his request, insisting that violence is bad, and asks for his help moving a few bags. Okarun agrees but repeats his request, only to get rejected again.
Okarun walks home exhausted from helping Mr. Mantis Shrimp and states his determination to learn how to throw a punch. Seiko remarks on his late arrival, questioning if he also got a part-time job like Momo, and tells him to eat and so she could do the dishes. At the same time, Jiji finds it hard to meet Okarun's gaze. Later outside, Manjiro tells Seiko that, after the previous incident with Momo, they can no longer keep the Evil Eye at bay and insists on calling back the hayashi. Seiko vents her frustrations, saying life is unfair and that it is an adult's job to bear the burdens of children to allow them to live in fantasy. Manjiro counters this belief, telling her it is also an adult's job to teach children to face reality, and sometimes determination and optimism is not enough.
On the other side of the house, Okarun trains himself on how to throw a punch. Turbo Granny walks outside catching him committing to this, prompting her to mock his efforts and ask why he is training. Okarun replies that he wants to become stronger to defeat the Evil Eye. Hearing this, Turbo Granny questions whether he truly wants to become stronger, or learn how to punch. After Okarun answers that he wants to achieve both, Turbo Granny explains to him that him being able to punch won't lead him to becoming stronger and emphasizes on how powerful the Evil Eye is. Okarun inquires to her on how he should approach his goal, prompting Turbo Granny to remind him that he possesses her power and ask him once again what he wants. After Okarun changes his answer to wanting to become stronger, Turbo Granny has him follow her to another location for this purpose. Noticing the two leaving, Aira decides to tail them.
Okarun is led by Turbo Granny to his school and questions as to why they are here, to which Turbo Granny gives him a vague answer. As he jumps over the fence anyways, Aira appears wanting to know what he is doing, much to his shock to realize that she had been following them. Okarun insists that she not follow them any further but is refused by her until he lets her in on their plan. Turbo Granny then proceeds to call her a "skank" while insisting that she return to the house, prompting Aira to shift into her Acrobatic Silky form, warning the cat doll against further insults. This escalation leads to a confrontation between the two after Turbo Granny provokes her, much to Okarun's plea for them to avoid creating a disturbance.
Inside, Aira learns from Okarun the purpose of their visit and insist on tagging along with them to getting stronger as well. She also feels compelled to inform Okarun that the words she uttered in her Acrobatic Silky form were not her own, but rather those of the yokai, although she quickly repeats the same words after Turbo Granny insults her. After being taken to the music room, Okarun visibly tenses being in the room in the middle of the night, while Aira moves closer to him to try to get his attention, only to end up accidently punching him from being spooked by the sudden sound of the piano. Turbo Granny mocks them saying it was her doing, much to Aira's annoyance. Aira then checks to see if he is fine, which he does vice versa. While Aira sulks in the corner, Turbo Granny instructs Okarun to jump in time with her playing. When he questions the purpose, she explains that there is a difference in combat rhythm between him and the Evil Eye in that the yokai is able to perform four different actions by the time it takes for him to jump and land back on his feet. Okarun quickly assumes that this is indication that the Evil Eye's speed is greater than her's, only for Turbo Granny to angrily correct, telling him that her speed greater and what she is emphasizing is technique. She goes on to clarify that he needs to enhance his ability to change actions during combat, as he is currently able to perform two actions, while Aira and the Evil Eye can perform four, or even ten for the Evil Eye when factoring in his cursed house attacks. The piano then plays again, this time not by Turbo Granny but a large-headed musician. As Okarun and Aira cover their ears from the loud noise by emitted, Turbo Granny states that "they" are here. The large-headed musician expresses his dissatisfaction hearing the noise from earlier and, as five more large-headed musicians appear, demands to know who was the cause.
