You Can Do It, Okarun! (がんばれオカルン Ganbare Okarun?) is the twentieth episode of the Dandadan anime series.
Synopsis[]
Okarun and Aira end up fighting against classical composers lurking in the school music room for training. Aira gradually gets the hang of it, but Okarun is unable to dodge the composers' flying musical note bomb attacks. Turbo Granny gives Okarun some advice, telling him to move his body to the rhythm.
Plot[]
Seeing the musicians appear demanding to know who caused the unpleasant noise on the piano, Aira suggests to Okarun in leaving, to which he complies. However, after Turbo Granny accuses the two of being the ones at fault, Okarun and Aira enter their yokai transformation in response to the musicians sending out a strange attack. Okarun runs forward to confront the musicians sending out musical notes and ends up causing one of them to explode after touching it. Turbo Granny warns Okarun that the musical notes are bombs and that he also needs to be wary of the rest notes that have a paralysis effect. Learning this, Aira states her doubts that they will be able to handle the task of dodging all of the notes.
Okarun and Aira find themselves transported to a surreal paddy field conjured by the musicians, where their enemy have explosive musical notes rain down in relentless waves. As they sprint through the chaos, Okarun watches in awe as Aira gracefully dodges the attacks with ease. His distraction leads him to receiving a sharp reprimand from Turbo Granny, who urges him to focus and follow Aira's lead, and running into a sharp sign that distorts his voice into a high pitch. Aira attempts to finish off the musicians by extending her hair toward them, but has her assault blocked by their notes. Meanwhile, Okarun and Turbo Granny are hit by paralyzing rest symbols and are bombarded by the explosive notes. Aira glances back in concern but becomes too busy dodging another swarm to come to his aide. Frustrated by his poor performance, Okarun begins to doubt himself, especially in comparison to Aira. Turbo Granny snaps at him to focus, warning that the battle could drag on and Aira won't be able to keep dodging forever. She then urges him to move in sync with a rhythm he knows to evade the attacks effectively. Okarun admits he doesn't listen to music, but suddenly recalls the song played by the HAYASii during Jiji's exorcism. As Aira struggles to reach the musicians, her feet sink into the tilled earth from the repeated explosions and becomes vulnerable to the incoming notes. Just in time, Okarun channels the beat of the HAYASii's song, saves Aira, and dodges the barrage, earning him Turbo Granny's praise. With Okarun's support, Aira closes the distance and delivers a decisive kick to the conductor.
In response to their conductor being eliminated, the musicians have the battlefield shift to an opera room where four giants expel out dozens of chorus members. Using her Acrobatic Silky hair to wrap it around the head of one of the giants, Aira pulls herself, Okarun and Turbo Granny out of the swarm and onto its head. The two narrowly evade an attack from the other giants, which ends up striking the one they were standing on. While still airborne, Aira kicks Okarun away and tasks him with defeating the musicians. She is then caught by the giants next strike, but despite the blow, she remains conscious, driven by the memories of her time spent with the others at the Ayase residence. Aira then uses her Acrobatic Silky hair to maneuver around the giants and have them attack each other as they target her. Finally, she wraps her hair entirely around a giant's head to pull it down and swings herself around to land a powerful kick on the last one standing. Meanwhile, Okarun fights off the chorus army and dodges the barrage of explosive musical notes to close in on the musicians. Seeing how there are five, he wonders how he will be able to defeat them all given that he can only go All-Out twice. Upon recalling Turbo Granny's mentioning how her speed can hit five actions in a single beat, Okarun figures that he should be able to accomplish this task and moves in to hit each musician with a succession of headbutts, resulting in five afterimages being created.
With the musicians defeated, Okarun, Aira, and Turbo Granny return to the classroom, dispelling the illusion that had trapped them. Okarun checks on Aira and thanks her for her support during the battle. Though she intends to respond in her usual cute girl manner, Aira finds herself momentarily at a loss and instead looks down on Turbo Granny after she smugly claims credit for their success, much to cat doll's annoyance. Okarun expresses his gratitude to Turbo Granny for helping him improve in battle but is told by her that him he has only begun to tap into her true power. She then reveals that the musicians were tulpas, fear manifestations of the music portraits in the classroom that appear when the piano is played at two in the morning. Upon hearing her knowledge of the paranormal at the school, Aira grows suspicious, accusing Turbo Granny of scheming behind their backs, to which the call doll spirit plays along with a mischievous grin. Turbo Granny then inadvertently steps on a key while dismounting from the piano, causing the musicians to be summoned once more, much to their dismay as they confront them again.
At the Ayase house, Manjiro informs Jiji that he has decided to schedule another exorcism for the Evil Eye, believing it is the safest course of action to prevent further harm to anyone close to him. As Jiji sulks to this decision, Momo voices her objection and looks towards Seiko for support her, only to receive no response from her. The four then hear Okarun shouting from outside, calling for Jiji to come out. After everyone gathers, Okarun declares his intent to challenge the Evil Eye directly, revealing to them all how frustrated he was when the Evil Eye almost harmed Momo and that he finds their willingness to accept the Evil Eye, in light of how dangerous he is, to be admirable. Lastly, he admits that he is frustrated with how weak he perceives himself and tells Jiji that he will honor he wish to keep the Evil Eye. Manjiro moves to intervene, but Seiko stops him, sensing the seriousness in Okarun's voice. Before having Aira cold splash water on him, Jiji lets Okarun know that he trusts him to help the Evil Eye. Following the Evil Eye being let out, Okarun lunges forward in his Turbo Granny form to clash with the yokai.

- Bottom row:
While one of the Music Room Portraits is based on Johann Sebastian Bach in the manga, the anime instead shows an incorrect portrait of George Frideric Handel after their defeat.
