Clash! Space Kaiju vs. Giant Robot! (激突!宇宙怪獣対巨大ロボ! Gekitotsu! Uchū Kaijū Tai Kyodai Robo!?) is the twenty-fourth episode of the Dandadan anime series and the final episode of the second season.
Synopsis[]
Using the nanoskin that Momo's house is made of, Momo and company create a giant Buddha robot to fight against the space kaiju. Kinta pilots the robot, and together with Momo's psychic powers and Aira's hair abilities, the group seeks to turn the tides of battle. Meanwhile, Okarun and Jiji have been ejected from the Buddha robot, and they land in the middle of a rice paddy...
Plot[]
As the kaiju approaches, Momo urges the others to make attempts to operate the mecha by pressing various buttons. However, their efforts yield no success. Okarun ends up ejecting out of the mecha, while the Evil Eye forces his way out. The two then observe as the kaiju assaults it, with Momo, Aira, and Kinta being the only ones trapped inside. While the Evil Eye is eager to engage in battle, Okarun grows concerned for his friends and considers granting the Evil Eye permission to fight the kaiju. However, before he could ask, the mecha's arm moves to prevent the kaiju from crushing it, much to Okarun's astonishment to witness. Realizing that the mecha can only be controlled through visualization, Kinta takes charge and directs it to kick the kaiju away. While expressing his aspiration to pilot a mecha, he commands it to transform into a different form as he prepares to fight the kaiju.
With the mecha fine-tuned to his specs, Kinta seizes the upper hand against the kaiju, launching a barrage of strikes with giddy fervor while disregarding the memories of his past ridiculed by his peers. However, the thrill is short-lived when the kaiju abruptly vanishes from sight and destroys the mecha's left leg. It then proceeds to thrash the mecha around with its tail, further crippling it as it lays on the ground unable to stand. Kinta is urged by Okarun to eject from the mecha but becomes unable to do so due to the airbags preventing him from reaching the trigger. He then starts to fear for his life as the kaiju continues to destroy the mecha. The kaiju's assault ceases after Momo, who feels sick from the mecha moving, uses her power through the robot to grab the kaiju's tail. Aira follows suit, conjuring her Acrobatic Silky hair through the mecha as well to wrap it around the kaiju, giving away its location while it remains invisible. Though Kinta insists that he continues piloting the mecha, Momo and Aira decline, refusing to succumb to motion sickness once again. Momo channels her energy through the mecha’s arms, hoists the kaiju skyward and performs a devastating powerbomb, which she declares is the proper way to defeat a kaiju.
After delivering a devastating blow to the kaiju, causing it to shrink and lose consciousness on the ground, Momo, Aira, and Kinta return to the real Kamigoe City, resulting in the mecha being out in the open. Momo then reforms the mecha to A UFO-like spacecraft to fly out of the city and back to her residence. Momo and Aira then rush out of the room, feeling nauseous from the motion, while Kinta sheds tears of joy for having experienced the thrill of piloting a mecha. After transporting the unconscious kaiju out of the city and to the Ayase residence with Jiji, who Okarun returned to normal with a hot meat bun, Kinta comes out of the Ayase house ridiculing the two for being late and insists on being let in on being informed of their group's activities. Okarun shares with Kinta the mission he and Momo are on to locate one of his kintama that is sought after by aliens and spirits. Kinta presumes that the kintama holds significant importance for the world's fate, but Okarun clarifies that this is not the case. Although Kinta offers to assist in the search for the kintama, Okarun assures him that he would prefer to not have him involved. Redirecting his focus to the kaiju, Okarun inspects its mouth and is taken aback to discover a part of a person inside. With Jiji and Kinta unwilling to investigate further, Okarun takes the lead and finds a zipper on the kaiju. Upon unzipping it, the three are astonished to find a girl inside, revealing that the kaiju is actually a suit being piloted. Okarun then locks eyes with the girl as she begins to regain consciousness. Still feeling the effects of motion sickness, Momo steps outside to witness Okarun being kissed by the kaiju girl, leaving everyone in shock.
