The Family (家族 Kazoku?) is the term first coined by Seiko Ayase that refers to Momo's social group of friends from school who are welcomed guests at the Ayase residence, the people who Seiko grants residency at her house, and other acquaintances associated with the group. The group came to be after Momo and Okarun began their search for the latter's missing kintama, with their quest subsequently leading them to form allies along the way.

Turbo Granny Arc[]
After breaking up with her boyfriend, Momo wounds up making a bet with a classmate she nicknamed Okarun on whether spirits or aliens exist. The bet ultimately backfired as Momo's psychic powers awakened from being abducted by aliens known as the Serpo, while Okarun became cursed by the Turbo Granny, a yokai that resides in a tunnel. With help from her grandmother Seiko, Momo helped Okarun to get rid of the curse by luring out the Turbo Granny and exorcising her and the Earthbound Spirit Crab she fused with. After a celebratory dinner, Momo gave her goodbye to Okarun and told him that she would see him tomorrow at school, much to his happiness the next day to see his new friend waiting for him at the school's entrance as promised.
Acrobatic Silky Arc[]
At school, Momo and Okarun's friendship had gone off to a rough start but was rekindled after they forgave each other, including Momo defending Okarun from Aira Shiratori, a well-known female student who acted friendly towards Okarun to play with his emotions, by using her powers to drop a basin on her head. At the Ayase house, Momo and Seiko became informed by Okarun that the matter of the Turbo Granny's curse had not been fully resolved, as he realized too late that his kintama were mysteriously missing. After performing a close inspection on him, Seiko discovered that the Turbo Granny had hid herself inside of Okarun and had Momo helped with transferring the yokai's consciousness into a cat doll as her new body. Momo learned from the Turbo Granny that in the midst of her exorcism she had taken and lost Okarun's kintama and struck a deal with her in that she would return her powers that is sealed inside Okarun in exchange for helping them find the lost items.
The next day, Momo found out that Aira had one of Okarun's kintama in her possession after the girl assaulted her with it, as she suspected Momo of being a demon based on the manifestation of her psychic power yesterday. After a yokai known as Acrobatic Silky appeared to capture Aira, Momo and Okarun wound up fighting against her and managed to defeat her but discovered that Aira had died from previously being swallowed by Acrobatic Silky. Wanting to save her, Acrobatic Silky offered to transfer her aura to Aira by having Momo use her psychic powers and managed to achieve Nirvana before disappearing thanks to Aira consoling her.
Serpo Arc[]
After the incident with Acrobatic Silky, Aira became invited to eat with Momo, Okarun, Seiko, and the Turbo Granny at the Ayase house. Still viewing Momo as a demon, Aira made a declaration to defeat her in the future, prompting Momo to challenge her back. With one of Okarun's kintama acquired, Momo, Seiko, and the Turbo Granny proceed to place it back in his crotch through a game of baseball, much to the owner's chagrin but happiness to be partially back to normal.
The next day at school, Okarun trained in secret to improve himself for Momo's sake the next time they face a threat and soon found himself approached by Aira who confessed her feelings for him. Their meeting then led to a misunderstanding for Momo after she caught the two at the site, much to Momo's aggravation and disappointment with Okarun for lying to her earlier about wanting to study alone. Later, the Serpo, along with the Dover Demon and Nessie as hired help, arrived at the school to capture Okarun for his yokai powers. With help from Momo, in light of their friendship being on the rocks, and Aira, who had awakened Acrobatic Silky's powers, due to possessing her aura, Okarun managed to end the battle with the aliens by delivering the final blow to a Serpo who had fused with the Dover Demon and Nessie. Shortly after, Okarun cleared the air to Momo about what had happened between him and Aira. The three students then made the decision to take the injured Dover Demon to the Ayase house to treat him, much to the alien's gratitude. After the Dover Demon explained his predicament of having to raise money for his son's blood transfusion, Seiko offered him a cow to solve his problem after discovering that his blood is similar to milk.
Cursed House Arc[]
A few moments after the Dover Demon traveled back to his planet, Momo reunited with her childhood friend Jiji who was invited by Seiko to temporarily move into their house until she could help exorcise an evil spirit that had been haunting his house. Seeing as how her powers were limited to the region of Kamigoe City, and that Okarun's other kintama may had something to do with Jiji seeing spirits, Momo became assigned by her grandmother to complete the task. Prior to the mission, Momo, Okarun, and Jiji chased down an animated anatomical doll named Taro to a junkyard where his spouse Hana was thrown away. Shortly after, Seiko complied to have Hana move into the Ayase house so that she and Taro could continue being together.
Upon their arrival at Jiji's house, Momo, Okarun, and Jiji get into conflict with the Kito Family, Jiji's landlords who intended to sacrifice them to a Mongolian Death Worm they viewed as the Tsuchinoko. Along with their situation of having to avoid being eaten by the creature and escape its lair, Momo and Okarun became faced with the problem of having to deal with the Evil Eye, the evil spirit that had been haunting Jiji at his house, after he had taken possession of Jiji's body. While the Evil Eye was dealt by Okarun and Seiko, who came along with the Dover Demon, Chiquitita, Taro, and Manjiro, Momo took care of killing the Tsuchinoko and managed to help safe Daija Town from its erupting volcano, thus prompting Seiko to declare that their business in the region was finished.
Back at the Ayase residence, the Evil Eye's exorcism was met with failure, however, the yokai's possession over Jiji was discovered to have a weakness over hot water, which resulted in Jiji being returned to normal. Until the next attempted exorcism, Seiko assigned Momo and Okarun with the task of splashing Jiji with hot water if he were to accidently come into contact with cold water that would cause the Evil Eye to assume control again.
Evil Eye Arc[]
Okarun and Aira are invited by Momo to stay at her house in order to keep an eye on Jiji at all times in case he accidently gets splashed with cold water. After at least two accidents occurred, the Hayashi Seiko hired arrived to start the second attempt at exorcising the Evil Eye. However, after Jiji wished to keep the Evil Eye sealed within him, Seiko decided to cancel the exorcism and had him undergo spiritual training to keep the Evil Eye under control. Despite the training, Manjiro believed that coexistence with the Evil Eye was impossible, after another accident almost jeopardized Momo's life, and consulted with Seiko to rehire the Hayashi. Okarun then took matters into his own hands by training with the Turbo Granny to gain better control of her power for a second fight against the Evil Eye and struck a deal with the Evil Eye that would assure that no one would get hurt in the yokai's presence. With the matter of the Evil Eye settled, Okarun acquired help from Mr. Mantis Shrimp's friend Ludris to repair the Ayase house that had been completely destroyed by the Evil Eye.
Kaiju Arc[]
After looking after the Evil Eye during her time at school, Momo took Okarun to an apartment complex after she had learned from her friend Miko that a mysterious golden ball had been sighted there, believing that it is Okarun's other missing kintama. There, the two discovered that were being followed by Kinta Sakata, a classmate of Okarun's who was eager to know how the latter was able to get female companions at school, and that the golden ball they encountered was an invisible kaiju after the three knocked it out of the building in a fight. Momo, Okarun, and Kinta then fled to the Ayase residence, along with Aira and Jiji after meeting up with them, after the kaiju grew to gigantic size and started chasing them. To fight back against the kaiju, Okarun figured that they could use the nanoskin the Ayase house was made of to construct something big and had his plan executed by Kinta who reformed the Ayase house into a gigantic mecha. Kinta gained the upper hand as he piloted the mecha to fight the kaiju, while Momo and Aira deal the finishing blow to monster after taking control of the mecha with their powers. After the battle, the group learned that the kaiju was actually a exosuit that was being piloted by an alien girl named Bamora who came to Earth looking for a worthy husband, which ended up being Okarun after he had defeated her in their previous battle at the apartment complex. Having viewed her as no longer a threat, Bamora was given residency at Momo and Seiko's home.
Space Globalists Arc[]
In light of her distrust towards Bamora, Momo escorted her to her school after Seiko had her enrolled as a student. Along the way, the two ran into trouble with a yokai named Reiko Kashima but managed to make it out of this encounter alive after Momo sent her elsewhere with a spell. At school, Momo conversed with Okarun, Aira, Jiji, and Kinta to figure out if the golden ball installed into Bamora's suit was Okarun's kintama and came to the conclusion that it was a core that was a part of the suit. Later, Momo informed Seiko of her encounter with Reiko Kashima and became warned by her grandmother that she would now have to stay away from mirrors and come home before ten to avoid another run with the yokai who now seeks revenge against her.
The next day, Jiji called for the gang to meet up behind school to showcase his newfound control over his ki. After school, Momo went off to her job at Moe Moe Kikoho and left Okarun in charge of walking Bamora to her house, while Jiji and Aira left together. The gang then found themselves confronted by aliens known as the Kur and wounded up badly injured from their battles against them, which included Okarun's kintama being stolen by the invaders. On Momo's end, the young girl managed to defeat a Kur with help from a Serpo she nicknamed Rokuro Serpo and made the decision to take him along with her as she hid from Reiko Kashima. After she came home to find her friends being treated by Mr. Mantis Shrimp, Momo furiously drove Bamora away for having learned from the Kur she defeated that she is connected to them. While Okarun continued to recuperate, Momo, Aira, Jiji, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp became informed by Rokuro that the Kur are planning to invade Earth with their main force by opening a warp gate with Okarun's kintama and decided to use the time they had to train until they became strong enough to stop them.
Unbeknownst to them, Okarun had unintentionally left his body as an astral projection and became teleported to Seiko and the Turbo Granny who were fighting off an evil spirit. While unable to return home to help the others until she had completed her task of visiting temples in Hokkaido, as per the terms of her contract with a god she borrowed power from, Seiko and the Turbo Granny helped Okarun to transport himself back to where his body was recovering, telling him about the concept of Spiral Power to accomplish this.
Momo, Aira, Jiji, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp departed to the site where the Kur were summoning their spaceships and became confronted by the members they fought before. While having Momo and Rokuro rush over to the warp gate to prevent the main force from summoning their entire main force, Aira, Jiji, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp battled against the Kur and managed to defeat them. Momo also became thwarted by the Kur and was left in a troubling situation of trying to save Bamora's life, after she arrived to help fight against the invaders and became fatally wounded by the leader, while Rokuro tried protected her from their oncoming attacks. With no other choice, Rokuro injected Bamora with a healing syringe and passed away from using up the last of his strength. Just as she became overwhelmed fighting the leader and Kur that had passed through the warp gate, Okarun (who had recovered), Aira, the Evil Eye, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp arrived just in time to help Momo fight the army. Though they managed to retrieve Okarun's kintama, with help from Kinta who had arrived and defeated the leader, the group became too late to stop the Kur's main force from arriving. However, they are eliminated by Reiko Kashima after she became furious with them for dropping bombs in the area. Reiko Kashima also decided to spare Momo after seeing her interactions with Okarun. With the invasion over, the group departed back to the Ayase residence with relief that they all made it out alive.
At the Ayase residence, the group enjoyed a feast prepared by Seiko after her return from Hokkaido. Shortly after, Momo, Okarun, Aira, Jiji, Kinta, and Bamora ran into Reiko Kashima on their way to the market and learned of her plans of going away to find a spouse. Later, the Turbo Granny placed Okarun's kintama back to his crotch through a game of football against Momo, Jiji, Bamora, and Seiko.
Trivia[]
- A recurring theme about the Family is that the group (along with any other allies with them) would sit around the dinner table at the Ayase house and dine on whatever is being served by Seiko whenever they manage to make it through a major conflict, which would usually lead to a new ally being presented.
- Along with this, Momo would usually wear a shirt that would reflect on either the food that is being served, or something related to the event that she had to go through.
