The Hayashi (
Overview[]
Not much is known about this group, other than that they are a hayashi who take requests to ward off evil spirits through heavy metal music. They are implied to be highly recommended hayashi to hire, as Seiko credited them to Momo on their performance being genuine, though at the same time, not so much renowned to where the famous spirit medium could recognize them upon meeting.

The Hayashi were hired by Seiko to help with exorcising the Evil Eye out from Jiji. In the midst of their performance, Jiji begged for them to spare the Evil Eye, having felt pity for the yokai. The performance was then cancelled by Seiko as she agreed to comply with Jiji's request.
- Onbusuman Operation

The Hayashi were hired by Seiko again for assistance with releasing an Onbusuman that was bound to Rin Sawaki. While the band, Seiko, Momo, and Okarun were being carried on a dashi as an army of spirits chased after them, the Hayashi put on their musical performance to erect a barrier that would protect the dashi from the spirits as they take pass through the streets. With Rin's help as a substitute for the vocalist, after he had been knocked out, the job was a success.

The tune of the song being played by the Hayashi has proven to be very effective in exorcising yokai who reside within individuals, as it was shown to have almost exorcised the Evil Eye out from Jiji, which not even Seiko, Momo, and Manjiro could accomplish due to Jiji's strong spiritual power, until Seiko decided to cancel the ritual. | ||

The barrier casted by the Hayashi is shown to be strong enough to protect them against any evil spirits that targets them, as a school building animated by awakened evil spirits was shown to be incapable of bypassing its defensives with its giant hand. A flaw to the barrier is that it can easily be slipped through by evil spirits of average size due to the large mesh of the barrier being uneven. The barrier also can only be kept active if the vocalist continues to sing along with their bandmates, otherwise a substitute would have to fill in for them. | ||

The Hayashi used their barrier to protect themselves, Momo, Okarun, Seiko, Rin, and the Dashi Carriers from an animated school building and an army of Ninomiya Kinjiro statues chasing after them on a dashi as they take a route that would rid Rin Sawaki of an Ombudsman. After the vocalists was knocked out, Rin took his place to recast the barrier. | ||
Trivia[]
- Since they aren't at least spirit sensitive, Seiko states that it would be incorrect to classify the Hayashi as spirit mediums.
- They visual resemble the Japanese rock band, X Japan.
