WARNING! |
Jin Enjyoji (
He is Momo Ayase's childhood friend (and also, unknowingly, her first crush) whom he lost touch with after moving away. Years later, he enrolls into Kami High and reunites with her after he came to her grandmother Seiko Ayase for help to rid his house of the Evil Eye haunting him, which leads to him becoming the yokai's vessel. After the Evil Eye is kept under control by Okarun, Jiji becomes one of the few to lend his help to Momo and Okarun as they try to find the latter's kintama.
Appearance[]
Jiji is a tall and muscular young man, being even taller than his parents with short auburn hair with bangs that fall down to his eyebrows with only the center of his forehead left exposed by a bang that points upwards, and brown eyes. He is considered as very handsome, and it makes him extremely popular with girls at school.
When he was first introduced, Jiji wore a tracksuit with an undershirt.
When at school, Jiji wears a collared shirt with a tie, jeans with a belt and the school's blazer. He also wears dark hoop earrings.

Personality[]
Jiji is known for his cheerful personality, limitless enthusiasm, and a tendency for over-the-top emotional responses. He frequently communicates with a dramatic style, using grand gestures and always seizes the chance to transform even ordinary or serious moments into theatrical displays. This immaturity, however, occasionally pushes social boundaries. Upon moving into the Ayase residence, Jiji falsely claimed to Miko and Kei that he and Momo were in a "lovey-dovey relationship", a statement that irritated Momo and prompted her to get violent with him for putting her in an embarrassing situation. This aspect of his personality is also what caused their childhood friendship to fracture, as Momo felt insulted when Jiji mocked her for adhering to her grandmother's tradition back when they were kids and did not favor their reunion years later. Jiji reveals that his behavior is due to his difficulty expressing his true feelings around Momo.
In addition to his outgoing traits, he is good-natured and sociable to those around him, which allows him to quickly forge friendships, as evident by Okarun finding himself enjoying his conversation with him on the train ride to his house despite perceiving Jiji as a rival for Momo's affection. By the time he confronted the Evil Eye, Okarun ultimately confessed to considering Jiji a cherished friend after the brief moments they spent together. Jiji deeply values his friendships and is committed to protecting those close to him, striving to improve himself and act as a reliable ally in moments of danger. Despite his immaturity, Jiji demonstrates a strong sense of accountability. Recognizing the weight of his decision to keep the Evil Eye within him, Jiji committed himself to Seiko's ki training to prevent the yokai from using his body to go on a rampage. He is shown to be remorseful for past wrongdoings, having sincerely apologized to Momo for mocking her childhood rituals and to the Evil Eye for misjudging him out of fear. Jiji also demonstrated notable empathy toward the Evil Eye, having promised to play with him as many times as he wanted after learning about the yokai's tragic past and deep longing for companionship.
He is also shown to act very flirtatious whenever he is around girls he finds attractive. During his introduction to his classmates in Class 2-B, he promptly asked a female classmate for her cellphone number after her cute appearance caught his eye and proceeded to flirt with Momo's friends Miko and Kei.
Background[]
During his childhood, Jiji used to be friends with Momo Ayase and unknowingly her first crush. However, after Momo started to follow her grandmother Seiko Ayase's instruction in performing a ritual, Jiji rudely mocked her and eventually lost touch with her after he and his parents moved up to the mountains.
At some point, Jiji started to notice strange things happening around his house, but decided to ignore them after his parents failed to take his word for it. However, Jiji is soon confronted by a spirit in his house and found himself seeing it everywhere he went, including in his dreams, resulting in him being sleep-deprived. This encounter then leads to his father and mother being hospitalized after coming down with a sickness.
Having no choice, the family decided upon hiring well-known spirit mediums to perform an exorcism but are met with failure after three of the five mediums ultimately committed suicide. After being told from them that hiring Seiko would be a last resort, Jiji contacted her about his situation and became permitted to move into her house until his problem is solved.

Jiji is able to channel his ki into others to ease the pain of any injuries or discomfort inflicted to them. He suggested applying this technique to Seiko after her medication caused her to feel exhausted but was interrupted by the confrontation of the Kito Family. He later applied this to Seiko after she was injured in her battle against Enenra.

| Strengths and Weaknesses | ||
Jiji harmlessly firing his Evil Gun through himself. The primary advantage of this ki application is that it enables Jiji to unleash powerful beams of focused energy that he can control to either deal damage to anything in their trajectory or repel an intended target. Through his mastery in ki manipulation, Jiji can direct his Evil Gun to pass through obstacles, allowing him to reach his target situated on the other side. A major weakness to the Evil Gun is that it depletes Jiji of his stamina (though he has been shown being able to fire at least four in a single day, signifying his improvement over the technique since his first usage). It should also be noted that his first usage put too much strain on his hands. Jiji claims that executing a single palm is quite difficult for him to do and is required to put all his effort to use it. While powerful, Jiji's Evil Gun can be countered or even outmatched if clashed with a blast of a higher level, as with the case of the combined blasts Suda Ko's electromagnetic projectile rifle and Ta Komeshi's anti-gravity beam.
| Usage | ||
|
Jiji mainly uses his Evil Gun in combat, positioning himself out of melee range and firing it off as a destructive mid-long-range attack at his targets. Jiji is able to increase the power of his Evil Gun by applying the word influence of the Power of Words and the rotation dynamics of Spiral Power, with the latter also allowing him to draw out the Evil Eye's power. He can also have his Evil Gun repel his targets. This was demonstrated during the confrontation with the Typhoon Human where Jiji worked with Momo to send the UMA's frozen sharks towards it in an attempt to have it dissipate.

Jiji is able to accesses the power of the Evil Eye through two distinct methods. The first is through Spiral Power, a technique in which he synchronizes his ki with the Evil Eye's and sets them both into rotation. The second involves rapidly alternating control of his body between himself and the Evil Eye, a process he compares to the flickering of a lightbulb. This second method triggers a partial transformation of the Evil Eye's possession. The black markings stretching from Jiji’s face to chest fade to a muted shade, revealing two sharp dark lines running from his forehead to his eyes. His long earrings shrink to half their usual length, the third eye on his forehead cracks slightly open, and his white hair flares upward in jagged spikes. His voice also takes on the tone of the Evil Eye's. |

The ki of the Evil Eye strengthening Jiji's Evil Gun. Accessing the Evil Eye's power through the method of Spiral Power enables Jiji to significantly boost the strength of his techniques, especially when his initial attacks fall short. The second method, involving rapid alternation of control between Jiji and the Evil Eye, grants him the yokai's formidable durability, allowing him to withstand high-impact blows, including those from other yokai. While this form enables him to use his own special techniques, the single drawback is that his offensive power is diminished compared to the amplification provided by Spiral Power.

|
Jiji first unlocked the Spiral Power method to enhance his Evil Gun while fending off the devastating blasts of Suda Ko and Ta Komeshi. The breakthrough came after recalling Seiko's earlier theory that it might be possible for him to tap directly into the yokai's power by applying this technique. Later on, Jiji developed the second method for purpose of playing with the Evil Eye during his free time. He would soon employ this technique in combat against Enenra to endure his assaults and utilize his Evil Gun to inflict damage on the smoke yokai.

Etymology[]
- The name Jin means "compassionate" (仁).
- Jin's surname Enjoji means "circle, yen, round, money, rotund" (円) (en), "castle" (城) (jo) and "temple" (寺) (ji).
Trivia[]
- The activation and reversal of the Evil Eye's curse affecting Jiji through hot or cold substances is similar in nature to the conditional curse of Ranma Saotome, the main protagonist of Ranma ½ who is cursed to transform into a female whenever splashed with cold water, with hot water being the only thing that can return him back into a male.
- This comparison was evident by Jiji after he sang the first few lyrics of "Don't Make Me Wild Like You", the first opening of Ranma ½, following the revelation of the curse's condition.
- Despite having known Seiko ever since he was a child, Jiji did not realize that she is actually Momo's grandmother until after he is reunited with Momo.
- In the 2025 Shueisha Jump+ 10th Anniversary exhibition, a provided display material states that Jin "Jiji" Enjoji was named after Guido/Gigi from the 1973 novel "Momo" by Michael Ende. The same goes for Momo Ayase.
- Jiji is in Class 2-B at Kami High, like Momo Ayase.
- His favorite soccer team is "Zaint-Germain" a reference to the real club "Paris Saint-Germain F.C." that plays in the French league.
- According to Dandadan Daizukan:[1]
- He likes soccer, humor, and Momo.
- He dislikes silence.
- His hobbies are playing soccer and video games.
- His special skill is juggling 900 times (soccer).
- His motto is "friendship, effort, victory".
