WARNING! |
The Kami High Ambushes were orchestrated by a mysterious mastermind to steal Okarun's powers and get rid of Koki Yukishiro. When Okarun, Kinta and Aira reached the school to support Rin and Koki, the two boys were confronted by Hase and the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, while the girls had to deal with Severed Head Dribblers controlled by Murakami.
Prelude[]
A young Koki winning a competition.
A young Koki Yukishiro found her love with the piano, thanks to her synesthesia which allowed her to see the sounds. She partecipated in multiple competitions and won several, inspiring Aira, who also played the piano, to push herself to her limits to cope with her mother's death. However, because Koki's mother imposed precise rules and forced her to follow the composition of the music, Koki lost both the ability to see the sounds and her passion, causing her to quit. Over the years, people forgot about her accomplishments and she was cast aside, with even her own family and her sister Alice despising her. Her quiet demeanor also marginalized her at school where she was more akin to a ghost than a student. In order to feel the same attention she received when she was younger, she resorted to posting photos of herself in her underwear online.
Enenra talking to Koki inside a locker.
Takeshi Murakami had been hired by Enenra and was given the powers of the Severed Head Dribblers, allowing him to obtain many yokai powers and getting huge money sums. Because of his performance, he was given a set of one black and one white kozuka knife so he could hand it out to another person, expanding the organization. Murakami's pursuit of money mixed with the need to fulfill his sexual fantasies led him to browse the socials of the female students at Kami High, eventually finding Koki Yukishiro's photos. Murakami approached her behind the school, threatening to inform her parents and contact the authorities unless she agreed to a certain condition. Despite initially acting like they werent hers, she gave up and Murakami cut her arm with the white kozuka containing the Lord of the Flies power, instructing her to steal Momo Ayase's abilities the following day. Koki later theorized that Murakami might have given powers to other girls who were also blackmailed by him, but it remains uncertain.
Koki guiding the pygmies to attack Momo, Okarun and Aira.
Koki, who mistakenly believed the Pygmies she could now see were her new power, was given Momo's location in the library and attacked her, although the bell rang before she could complete the job. Momo alerted her friends and together they searched for her, later finding her in Class E and starting a chase. Empty space was activated by somebody, trapping Koki, Momo, Aira and Okarun in the home economics classroom. The trio fought off the thousands of pygmies despite only Momo being able to see them and she later crushed Koki who was hiding behind an invisible cloth, controlling the tiny creatures from there. The pygmies, out of their own will, carried Koki outside and another chase started when Kinta, Jiji and Bamora entered empty space too. Koki reached the infirmary where the nurse Queen stopped Kinta with her baton and defended the girl from her aggressors. Queen began seeing through her lies, also because she spotted the many pygmies around the girl, shocking Momo as only her and Koki were able to see those creatures. Inside the infirmary, Koki revealed her story and the unknown teacher forcing her to steal Momo's powers, though her memories had mysteriously vanished. Now on the History and Culture Research Club's side, Kinta installed a surveillance pin on her hair with his nanoskin to monitor the teachers she came in contact with and they dispersed, hoping that her blackmailer would reveal himself.
The Jumping Crone manifesting behind Hase after he cuts himself with the white kozuka knife.
At the same time that Koki hunted Momo in the library, Hase, one of Okarun's bullies who was also very popular at school, challenged the boy to a race during their gym class, hoping to get an easy win and receive compliments from the girls watching them. Incredibly, because of his constant use of Turbo Granny's powers which he did not possess anymore after returning them to her, Okarun's body was honed over time and he swept the floor with Hase, not just in the race but in multiple track tests. The orchestrator observed his humiliation and later communicated telephatically with Hase, terrifying him. The voice told him that he knew of his desire to beat Okarun and revealed that the boy had special powers, meaning he would need to get them too. Just then, two kozuka knives appeared on the water tap, instructing Hase to cut himself with the white one to obtain an ability and to cut Okarun with the black one only after he admitted defeat to steal his. After gym class, Hase wandered around, believing it was just a sick joke, but when girls started falling for Okarun instead of him, his jealousy reached its limit and he tested the white knife. Although it seemed like nothing had happened, the Jumping Crone yokai manifested behind him and he could feel her eerie presence. It is still unknown if Hase later got in contact with the orchestrator through his phone. Also, while Okarun was performing in his gym clothes, the orchestrator had someone install an Eye of Providence device under his regular shoes, possibly acting as a tracker or camera.
The Jet Booster Exosuit Kur waking up in the Kamigoe Ruins.
Furthermore the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, who had woken up from a deep slumber she fell in after she got knocked out by Okarun during the Kur Invasion, was previously transported by Count Saint-Germain to the abandoned Kamigoe Ruins, previously inhabited by Reiko Kashima who had left to find herself a man. She looked around in confusion but rapidly got in a defensive stance when the Count approached her, wondering if the destroyed suit belonged to her and suggesting to get it repaired. The naked alien woman demanded to know what he needed her for but the count did not disclose what he needed her for and was also willing to let her go if she refused, although she couldn't afford to do that due to the insanely high gravity of Earth, which she couldn't handle without her suit. With no other choice, she accepted her task and Count Saint-Germain provided her with a new exosuit and later sent her to Kami High. It is not confirmed that her plan was to eliminate Okarun, as that desire sprouted from her revenge for stopping her plan to assassinate the Kur Emperor, also because she was never seen with a kozuka knife and did not confirm Hase's thoughts about her joining his side to steal Okarun's powers.
Payase and Kashimoto saving Seiko from the Minotaur and the Jiangshi.
At the end of the school day, many students from Renjaku High School were ordered by Unji to block the gate so he could find Momo. Eventually, Unji approached Okarun and Bamora, while the small Momo had to use her powers for him to notice her. Unji requested her help to save Daiki from the curse which accelerated his aging and she agreed, although Jiji and Aira attacked the boy, believing he was another agent sent after Momo like Koki. Momo interrupted the fight and together they walked to her house, bumping into Manjiro and Seiko who were preparing the van to start their journey. Seiko brushed the comments about her injuries aside received from a fight that morning, in which two agents of the orchestrator, a Minotaur and a teacher at Kami High called Mika Adachi attempted to steal her powers but their ambush failed due to two unexpected cursed object collectors jumping in the fight, Kashimoto and Payase. She managed to flee while her ally got detained by the police, however she was deeply saddened by her loss since a successfull attack would have provided her with more money to cover her ill mother's hospital fees. She returned to school, bumping into Murakami. Mika could sense the spirituality emanating from him and theorized that he had special powers just like her, so she came up with the plan to steal the man's abilities to substitute the ones belonging to Seiko.
Murakami leading Koki to the gym while Rin watches closely.
Seiko told Momo and Bamora to prepare themselves to fly to Shimane and lift her curse once and for all. Everybody got excited and they all begged to come along, which Seiko didn't mind. Momo also introduced Raiya, Unji and Daiki to her grandma, who determined that these last two were affected by the same curse as her granddaughter and decided to bring them on the ride too. But then, perhaps just because of a coincidence or a direct order from the orchestrator who was listening to their conversation through the device under Okarun's foot, Murakami had approached Koki and brought her to the gym while Rin followed their movements. Seeing this with his surveillance pin, Kinta quickly made his way to the Ayase Residence on his nanoskin hoverboard and informed them about the situation. They initially tried to abort the trip, but Seiko had made her research and explained that they had to be at the shrine in time for the hours of the Ox during the supermoon coming that night. Aira and Okarun decided to stay behind, with the latter prompting Momo to promise him she'll return to normal, which she does. Kinta, Aira and Okarun then rushed to Kami High while Manjiro, Seiko, Momo, Bamora, Jiji, Unji, Daiki and Raiya hopped on the van, headed to the airport.
Murakami sneaking behind Rin before giving her to the Severed Head Dribblers.
Meanwhile in the gym, Murakami manifested his Severed Head Dribblers after discovering that Koki failed to collect Momo's abilities, forcing her through a basketball hoop and cutting her head which floated upwards. The pygmies surrounded her in desperation while Rin, who peeked inside to see what's happening, get snuck upon by Murakami from behind and she too gets her head removed from her body. Mai, in desperation, cried next to her head while Murakami returned to his apartment to monitor the gym from the previously set-up cameras and to meet up with Adachi, who he had hired to fulfill his sexual fantasies. Hase might have been instructed by the Orchestrator to rush over to the school as the trio arrived, while the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur may have went there on her own to find and take Okarun's life.

The Gymnasium[]
The Match[]
Near the school, Kinta informed Aira that the surveillance pin on Koki has stopped recording once she entered the gym when she asked for a report, so she instructed the boys to stand back while she went in first. Okarun was worried about this decision, but Kinta pointed out that he didn't have any powers anymore so the two watched Aira enter while Kinta transformed his hoverboard into a jetpack. She carefully made her way inside, when out of nowhere, the two boys were struck and launched down the school grounds, surviving the hit only thanks to the jetpack's airbags. They watched in fear as Hase and another person, which they failed to recognize as the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur in her new exosuit, menacingly walked towards them.
Mai crying after Rin was apparently killed by the Severed Head Dribblers.
Aira too didn't waste time and barged into the gym, filled with Severed Head Dribblers and countless heads floating on top of them. Aira, creeped out by the scenario, immediately got targeted by the creatures after a head blew a whistle, starting the match. She dodged the heads used as deadly projectiles and evaded with ease the grapples of the Severed Head Dribblers using her acrobatics. She then unleashed her Pirouette Noble Drill onto the players, heavily damaging them, however this proved useless due to their unexpected regenerative properties. Aira was surprised but quickly theorized that just like Koki's pygmies, the creatures would be unbeatable unless she defeated the power user controlling them. She slung through the building out of the projectiles' way, wondering where Rin and Koki were, when she glanced something floating. Looking closer, she realized that it was Rin's floating head while her guardian spirit Mai cried next to her.
Rin getting beheaded after being slamdunked.
Aira rushed over and demanded to know what happened to Rin, and after an explanation from Mai, the players threw another barrage of heads. Aira grabbed Rin's head before evading the shots, however she noticed strange particles leaving the Class Rep's body. Because Mai was a yokai, Aira asked if she knew who their opponents were which she recognized as Severed Head Dribblers, headless players who wander into gyms at night to look for balls, specifically heads. With this information, Mai asked Aira what they were going to do, but she only knew they had to find the power user controlling the athletes. Unexpectedly, Rin spoke, mentioning how Koki was in deep trouble. Everyone was freaked out because she was still alive and Rin realized that she was missing her body. Mai explained that Rin's head was in the real world, but her body was in the afterlife and they would need to hurry to reattach the two, otherwise her life force would spill out completely and kill her. Suddenly, Aira loses her balance because of a crumbled wall and Mai jumps in the way of a shot to defend her. Aira called her a noble fool before protecting her instead, taking a very painful hit which made her collapse and fall onto the floor. The girls were scared for her safety and Mai suggested Rin to sing and protect her, however she could not do it without the full strength of the vocal cords in her body.
Rin and Mai uniting to blast the Severed Head Dribblers away with their powers.
A player grabbed Aira and dribbled her around, throwing her multiple times on the floor as he made his way to the hoop, while a powerless Mai tried to stop him. Just before Aira would have been dunked, a memory from her childhood flooded her mind, involving a friend of hers believing that a doll put into a bath lost his body. Aira figured out on the moment that inserting a head from the other entrance would have brought the body back, so she rapidly moved her hair and lifted Rin through the lower part of the hoop, returning her to normal and blocking the passage for Aira to get her body removed. Mai, in tears of joy, immediately gave Rin her powers and her costume, singing a melody that blasted way all the Severed Head Dribblers nearby. Aira was relieved but she had never seen her in that outfit, deeply embarassing Rin. Mai explained that Rin could control gravity and she wore that costume because she was an idol. The players did not hold back and threw more heads at them, but with her gravity manipulation, Rin could easily protect Aira and ordered her to stand behind her. Aira remarked that she was the leader and she did not accept her proposal, resorting to fight on her side.
The Blackmailer[]
Koki's floating head surrounded by the pygmies.
Despite Rin finally being able to utilize her gravitational powers, they still struggled to keep the invincible Severed Head Dribblers at bay. Aira asked if she could expand her range of attack, but Rin revealed that it was apparently fixed. Mai intervened, stating that her singing skills were undeveloped and if she did not become a true idol, neither her power's range nor her outfits would improve, although Rin wanted to fix her sketchy costume immediately. Aira then requested Koki's whereabouts as Rin was monitoring her prior to the battle, but she admitted that she lost sight of her. Mai managed to spot her flying head surrounded by the pygmies to protect her, although the two girls could not see the tiny creatures thus not making Koki stand out in the storm of heads. Because of this, Rin requested Mai to go and help her, even if it meant leaving her powers temporarily. Aira thus defended her while the guardian spirit travelled to Koki, though Rin immediately regretted her decision when a volley of balls were launched their way, with Aira instructing her to keep moving to avoid being overwhelmed by their numbers.
Mai and the Pygmies breaking through the defenders while carrying Koki's head.
Mai approached the pygmies and told them to follow her in order to save Koki, which prompted the dwarves to form a chain and hold on Mai's ear while dragging their master behind. Rin screamed to head for the basket and dunk upward to which Mai obeyed, dribbling between the opponents thanks to the pygmies acting as a human body. She jumped with Koki's head in her hand, but three defenders blocked her path and threatened to stop her action. The pygmies rapidly dispersed, leaving Mai behind as a distraction and forming a chain which passed under the players, reaching the hoop and granting Koki her body back. She regained consciousness, coughing in pain, and before the Severed Head Dribblers could put her hands on her, Aira slung her way through and carried her away with a terrified Rin being held with another strand of hair. Aira requested Rin to resume singing and prompted Koki to calm down and hang on to her. The girl opened her eyes and was relieved to see Aira, afraid that it was instead Murakami, revealing that he was the teacher who had blackmailed her and many other girls who broke the school rules through their social media accounts with their underwear photos, meaning that some could have also been given powers just like her.
Murakami monitoring the battle from his apartment.
Hearing this, Aira declared that they would find him somewhere in the gym and beat him up when suddenly Rin alerted them, seeing that some players had grown to an enormous size and the walls were tightening up. Rin kept up the gravitation shield but Aira noticed that her range of action had gotten smaller, with also Mai agreeing that she couldn't keep singing without rest and she only had about five minutes before she would finish. Hearing this, Aira increasingly got anxious, aware that defending her friends and taking down the Severed Head Dribblers at the same time would be way too challenging. She inquired if Koki could make use of the pygmies and have them search for Murakami so they could have defeated him before it was too late. Unbeknownst to them, Murakami was observing them from his apartment through a monitor while exercising on his cyclette, who admitted that they were putting up a good fight but knew that the second they entered the gym, their loss was inevitable. Koki begged the pygmies to lend her their strength, asking for forgiveness due to the way she treated them as she did not know they were trying to protect her, and the dwarves obeyed happily.
The pygmies building a piano for Koki to play.
After training for a while, Murakami got off the cyclette and went to get a cold beer, affirming that training hard beforehand is necessary to enjoy a strong drink and asking Adachi if she agreed with him. Adachi, who was wearing a lewd bunny outfit, stood quiet and looked distant, prompting Murakami to tell her that if she kept her bad mood, he wouldn't have lent her money. He got closer, smashing his hand on the wall behind her to intimidate her, telling her that he was aware of the difficulties of maintaining her ill mother and the costs to put her inside a specialized home. He backed off and returned to his cyclette while Adachi stood there, secretly hiding a talisman to invoke her Jiangshi at the right moment. Back at the school, Koki shockingly tells the group that Murakami was never in the gym in the first place after the pygmies reported back from their search, frustrating Aira. Mai warned the others that Rin was at her limit and couldn't hold on for much longer although Aira ordered her to show some backbone and keep fighting. Seeing the girls protecting them while she stood back, Koki's memory was flooded by her failures and daily struggles due to her inability to do anything, when suddenly a pygmy indicated the piano they just built for her. She and Aira were very confused on how a piano appeared there, however Mai believed that the pygmies wanted her to play it so she manifest her ability.
The Melody[]
Koki manifesting the Lord of the Flies's power.
Hearing this, Aira theorized that the piano could amplify Rin's power and they prompt Koki to play it. She accepted the task, trembling with fear and stress, but when she played the first note, Koki was submerged by a feeling of unease due to her mother forcing her to follow the music's composition instead of following her heart, causing the loss of her synesthesia. The melody produced could barely even be called one, confusing Aira who ordered her to play it properly or they would have ran out of time. Koki desperately stated that she couldn't play the piano because it had pure intonation, meaning the strings' frequencies were 432 hertz instead of the usual 440. Aira, who knew she was a prodigy, told her to figure out the notes one step at a time and to improvise despite Koki negating this multiple times and giving up. Aira then admitted to her that back when they were little, she only thought of defeating her in the competition to shove the pain of losing her mother aside. The performances she heard from Koki were pure freedom and fun, hoping that she too one day could play like her, however when Koki quit, she also did. Aira shouted to retrieve the way she played piano back then and the fun emotions derived from it. Koki's memories and struggle flood her mind while trying to remember before placing her fingers on the notes, producing an heartwrenching melody that shocked all the girls around her. Aira felt her heart tremble and wondered if Rin's powers were now amplified, although she too couldn't answer. Mai suddenly realized that Koki's true ability was not the control over the pygmies nor something that supported Rin's singing, but something completely different. Meanwhile, millions of flies through Kamigoe City flood the skies.
Murakami being surrounded by the Jiangshi summoned by Adachi and a swarm of flies.
Murakami carried Adachi to the couch, stating that if her only problem was money, he would have resolved it thanks to the stocks he traded. She was thrown down and the man stood over, ready to indulge, however Adachi was willing to buy as much time as possible for her jiangshi, manifesting them behind Murakami through the talisman she was hiding from him. She telephatically told them that because they did not know his power, they must have waited for him to lower his guard to strike. Out of nowhere, a fly buzzed around Murakami's ear, frustrating him since he had taken the trash out the previous day, but when he turned around, he saw the horde of jiangshi surmounted by a giant swarm of insects. The gym too was filled with insects, frightening the girls who hugged each other in fear while the bugs attacked the Severed Head Dribblers. Mai continued her previous statement, believing that Koki's true power was to make small living things obey to her, also known as the Lord of the Flies, activated through her piano while she played with a satisfied and joyous look on her face. Murakami meanwhile was submerged by the bugs, screaming in pain due to the insects entering every orifice of his body, wondering what was happening. Adachi too was shocked by what she was seeing, but she couldn't let this opportunity slip away and she pulled out her black kozuka knife, demanding for him to yield if he wanted to live. Murakami stared at her in anger, realizing that she had been collecting powers just like him and the bugs were listening to her command. Still, with the Severed Head Dribblers in the gym, Murakami could only walk forward and grab Adachi's hands while the flies devoured him. He admitted defeat and slid his hand upwards, stabbing himself which caused his powers to be absorbed into the kozuka knife, mesmerizing Adachi. She did not waste time however when Murakami begged for her help, barging in along with her jiangshi to free him from the swarm. Unexpectedly, the flies lifted him to the ceiling, still persevering in their attack, and crushed onto the apartment's windows, breaking free.
Murakami gets knocked out by Aira, ending the battle.
Because of Murakami's ability being stolen, the gym returned to normal and the Severed Head Dribblers disappeared. Rin and Aira held onto each other, wondering if the battle was truly over, when suddenly Koki collapsed. They all rushed over and picked her up, though Koki admitted she was fine and just felt very dizzy after her performance. Still, Aira and Rin remained confused, inquiring on Murakami's whereabouts, but just then, the countless bugs smashed through the gym's windows. Believing it was another ambush, Aira jumped in front of the girls to defend them until they heard screaming and saw Murakami, who realized where he was brought and understood the gravity of the situation. He immediately tried to put an act, declaring that he was home taking a nice bath and could have never believed that these kinds of phenomena existed. He then asked the girls what they were doing there at this hour and prompted them to return home while he tried to rapidly exit the gym. Aira did not buy it and sent a devastating kick at his temple, rolling several meters away while she insulted him, questioning him if he had anything to say to them. Murakami gave up and agreed to delete Koki's pictures, although he also threatened to spread the rumors and give them a bad image, hoping to keep his advantage. Aira did not back down and demanded once and for all for him to erase the photos, launching a second powerful kick that knocked him out. Now that the teacher was defeated, Rin and Aira decided to head off outside to meet up with Okarun and Kinta, leaving Koki to guard the unconscious man until the police arrived.
The Soccer Field[]
The Revenge[]
Hase with the Jumping Crone's powers dashing through the air.
Picking up from Okarun and Kinta being sent flying by Hase and the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, the two ran away and evaded them to their best of their abilities. Kinta created two devices on the fly with airbags to insert in Okarun's arms, giving him a layer of protection in case of attack. Still, Kinta was dumbfounded by the mysterious enemies, believing that they only had to fight Koki's blackmailer, though they did not have much time to think ahead while being bombarded by lethal attacks. Hase struck first, utilizing the rebound mechanism on his feet to generate jumping force in the air, dashing at incredible speeds towards Okarun who was launched against the building. Thanks to Kinta's nanoskin, the airbags filled themselves before the impact, giving Okarun a cushion to land on and to quickly roll out from, deflating themselves and reentering the devices. Nonetheless, Okarun shouted that they wouldn't be able to defeat them only with airbags, although Kinta was too busy running away and prompted his friend to lure them away from him. He declared that they had to check if Aira and Rin were doing okay while Kinta still resorted to running in fear. Okarun couldn't understand why one of the Kur was there, but he then realized that the other enemy chasing them was Hase, who ran out of energy and reverted to his human form, admitting that the yokai's powers were exhausting and also trashed his clothes. Hase talked to his ally, ordering him to stop getting in his way and to follow the fat boy while he took care of okarun. The alien seemed unbothered by his words, customizing her suit in frustration since she had to adapt this one after using her previous exosuit for more than a hundred years.
The armor made of nanoskin created by Kinta for Okarun.
She damned Count Saint-Germain for the difficulties she had in using it while Hase kept talking to her, believing that they were both recruited to steal Okarun's powers although he admitted that all he wanted to do was beat up Okarun and she could get his abilities for her own. As he said this, he transformed back with Jumping Crone's power, threatening to take her life if she obstructed him any further, but the alien did not even look at him. Using this window of time, the boys reunited and Kinta molded the nanoskin onto Okarun, providing him with boots and a wacky helmet, leaving many parts of his body vulnerable. Despite the rudimental armor, he obeyed to Kinta warning him not to touch it, as it would have changed based on his imagination and ruin the original work. Kinta told him that he installed verniers on the back for movement and pile bunkers on the boots to attack. Okarun feared that Kinta sacrificed all the nanoskin for his sake, though this was quickly disproved as he announced his suit was going to be the Great Kinta, mimicking the one wielded during the Kur Invasion albeit human sized. Kinta selfishly had to tell him that there was only a limited amount of nanoskin when Okarun complained about his own suit being very exposed compared to his. Meanwhile, Hase warned her again to leave Okarun to him, but just as she finished calibrating her suit, she lunged forward, prompting Kinta to defend with a Blast Wind Thrust Attack, completely missing the target. She landed a strong kick on Okarun's armor, but they were both surprised that the hit did not cause much damage thanks to Kinta, who revealed that he had been training his creative power since their last battle. He knew that the Great Kinta was very powerful and gigantic, however its main weakness was his nonexistent durability, which prompted him to carry around a paperweight every day to get familiar with the sensation of steel and recreate it with the nanoskin.
The Jet Booster Exosuit Kur's memories of her life on her home planet before the invasion.
It would have been a notable upgrade if it didn't affect the overall weight of the suit, making it sluggish to move which Okarun pointed out and Kinta soon confirmed. Kinta couldn't change this handicap in time due to Hase crushing him with his shoes and sending him rolling down the school grounds, while the alien kept up her attacks against Okarun. The boy wanted to know why her species was after him again, hearing that he had stolen everything from her, although he pointed out that they stole his ball first. The Jet Booster Exosuit Kur screamed that he stole her reason for living, being her revenge against the Kur Emperor after they had destroyed her planet. She yelled that she had joined their army to rise through the ranks and assassinate him, taking over one hundred years to just be Hastur's right hand and all of it was thrown out of the window when Okarun and his people defeated them. She screeched and continued her barrage of kicks, demanding to know if he could understand her anguish and frusatration. Okarun stood his ground, admitting that none of it meant anything to him and he activated his verniers, crashing against her and pushing her upwards. She blowed him away and prepared to follow up with a punch but Okarun flipped and blasted her away with his Pile Bunkers, screaming their name to strengthen the attack. The two of them fell down and now well enough distanced, he begged her to stop the fight because he wasn't her enemy. Despite hearing this, the alien responded harshly, stating that her only goal was to take his life and then her own. She reminisced about her peaceful love with her husband on their home planet, shattered by the Kur who invaded them, resulting in losing her eye and her body being completely scarred.
The alien revealing her identity to Okarun.
She lunged forward and unleashed a series of devastating kicks, leaving Okarun no choice but use the boosters against her to immobilize her. Unexpectedly, she opened her suit's mask and crushed Okarun's right arm with her teeth, causing him to scream in pain. To get away, he turned around and again activated his pile bunkers, hitting her chest and gaining distance. As he fell, he realized that the furious alien descending towards him was not an octopus like the Kur, shocking him. She closed her mask and launched another kick, crushing Okarun's arms against the armor. Okarun's pain rapidly faded when he noticed that he had mistakenly touched the armor with his palm, changing the nanoskin's conditions previously set by Kinta. The alien extracted a mysterious mechanism from her hip, generating an ever-growing ring of light which travelled to her back on the junction point of her wings. In the air, the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur charged a cataclysmic kick, releasing the ring in a straight line piercing right through Okarun's armor, shattering it and breaking it in a million pieces, catapulting him backwards. Seeing this, Hase launched Kinta away and rushed over, landing right in front of her and insulting her, affirming that he would have been the one to eliminate Okarun. For the first time, she talked to him in frustration due to having halted her revenge, however Hase did not care and threatened her that he would have really killed her if he got in his way again. As he told her this, he flung her upwards with his legs and jumped in the air to rapidly climb over her. He then backflipped and jumped downwards, diving onto her with destructive strength. In the crater, Hase did not stop, pummeling her multiple times by soaring up and down with his rebound shoes.
The Bully[]
Kinta and Okarun now merged.
With this distraction, Okarun and Kinta reunited again, the former notifying that he accidentally touched the gear, losing its durability. He had to say sorry twice because of Kinta's hubris, who determined that their only way to win now was to merge in order to become stronger. Okarun didn't understand what he meant since humans couldn't merge, however Kinta told him that he had a poisoned mindset and insisted that they were robots, but his ego took over and said that only him was the robot. He approached Okarun and molded the nanoskin around each other, almost dislocating his ally's shoulder while Kinta requested his creative powers to aid him in his mission. Finally, the two have united in one robot, with the upper part forming the Great Kinta and the lower being Okarun carrying Kinta on his shoulder, which he immediately pointed out. Kinta put the blame on Okarun for the terrible design due to his weak imagination even though it wasn't necessary for combat. Kinta then affirmed that he could handle the nanoskin better than anybody else, however Okarun had been in more fights than him and that's why he needed his reflexes and dynamic visual acuity to perform well. Just then, Hase finishes the alien off and throws her away, leaving here in a state of near unconsciousness. Seeing the opening, they pounced onto him, barely missing him due to Hase's quick reaction time. Noticing the horrible mech they were fighting inside, Hase called out to Okarun, feeling insulted since he believed it was some sort of joke to make fun of him, almost like he was not a worthy opponent.
Kinta and Okarun in their merged robot fighting against Hase in his Jumping Crone transformation.
Before the counterattack, Kinta shouted to use the verniers and Okarun obeyed, parrying succesfully a kick from their enemy. Kinta then threw a Blast Wind Thrust Attack, which Hase evaded due to the robot's sluggish movement, fueling his beliefs even more and demanding Okarun to exit the mech and fight with his powers, not knowing that he had returned them to the Turbo Granny. Hase then began toying with the robot, prompting Okarun to notify Kinta that the merging caused them to weigh more and the gear was now more damaged than ever. In conclusion, the merging made them weaker instead of stronger, flabbergasting Kinta due to all the cartoons he watched proving otherwise. In spite of this, Kinta rejected his hypotesis and threw a third Blast Wind Thrust Attack, though this time Hase landed onto their arm, the sole shockwave of him jumping away obliterating it. This alarmed Kinta and shouted for his hand to return, reattaching the nanoskin and infuriating Hase, who tried to up the pace when he was suddenly struck by Okarun's Pile Bunkers, frustrating him even more. He complimented the private for his attack yet Okarun complained that they were hardly doing any damage due to the robot, asking for stronger weapons. He responded by saying that they did not have any spare parts, but when Okarun indicated that the mech's face was too detailed and he could simplify it to obtain more nanoskin, Kinta felt insulted, wondering what would the point of piloting a robot even be if it lacked coolness, causing Okarun to get more desperate due to his absurd ideologies.
Hase launching a powerful kick to destroy their robot.
Kinta stood his ground, remarking that only thanks to his passion for scifi he was bestowed with boundless inspiration. Pumped up, he screamed Passion and thrust his arm forward to hit, although this proved useless when Hase flung them upwards with a devastating kick, hurting them. Hase felt irritated by the boys who thought they could beat, prompting him to unleash a barrage of hypersonic jumps, penetrating their robot multiple times until it was unrecognizable. He screamed out that weaklings who tried to best him gave him the creeps before propelling his leg upwards, obliterating the armor. Seeing Hase up close, Okarun's mind raced back to a scene earlier that year when he was reading his occult magazines until the bully took it away from him, finding it hilarious and sharing it to his friends. Hase then declared that whoever believed in stuff like that was better off dead, breaking Okarun's heart who could only look down in shame while the bully humiliated him further. Okarun rushed forward and hugged Hase before he could land the finishing kick on them, screaming Passion just like his friend earlier. Hase was very bothered by this and demanded for him to let go when suddenly Okarun claimed that he wouldn't get away with all those times he bullied him because of the countless conspiracies that have been proven true, such as the existence of UFOs, Project MKULTRA, the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment and Operation Mockingbird, meaning that Okarun was right all along.
Hase is crushed, ending the battle.
Hase tried in vain to remove him by punching him, but before he could get him off, Okarun ordered Kinta to merge, who shouted Epic Heroism before also connecting Hase to their robot, now upgraded with boosters on top and Hase's heels locked shut. Hase was astonished to find that he couldn't move his legs and angrily shouted to be released while Kinta bragged about merging giving strength all along, although Okarun still believed that it made them slower, weaker and heavier. As they soared higher into the sky, he confirmed this last adjective but rejected the fact they had become weaker. Just then, he shut off the rockets and they precipitated hundreds of meters. Hase screamed Okarun's name in anger and fear, but he couldn't do nothing against their merged robot which had truly made them stronger as they slammed into the ground, crushing Hase and taking him out of his Jumping Crone form, unconscious. The Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, who did her best to keep herself standing up due to her heavy injuries and the malfunctioning exosuit, had watched the battle ensue and resorted to flee into the skies after Hase's defeat. The smoke faded away as Kinta gave Okarun permission to call him colonel, which he accepted apathetically. Following their victory, the duo dragged Hase around the school grounds, eventually bumping into Rin and Aira, the latter hugging Okarun while Kinta boasted about how they won thanks to his genius.
Aftermath[]
Adachi meeting the agent under the overpass.
With Murakami's powers now in her hands, Adachi fled the apartment and contacted the Orchestrator, who told her to visit the embankment under the overpass in thirty minutes. She covered her head with the same jacket she wore during her previous ambush at the Nikujiru Gyoza, which might have been the key for Masamichi Vega to identify her and follow her in secret. At the rendezvous point, an eerie salaryman with no pupils, wearing a suit and carrying a briefcase, held his hand forward for her to deposit the powers. Adachi was then called by the mastermind who despite recognizing her hard work, revealed that Takeshi Murakami was a power-collecting agent just like her. Mika did not expect this and the voice asked why she went after Murakami since all the targets were specified by them. She admitted that she could feel and see something different in him which led her to believe he had powers, but desperately shouted that she wouldn't act on her own the next time. The orchestrator informed her that she did nothing as Koki was the one to defeat Murakami while she took up the leftovers by mistake, meaning she was now disqualified. They prompted her to hand over her kozuka knife and return the powers given to her, but Adachi begged further not to.
Vega facing the agent and the Fairy-Tale Card.
The orchestrator admitted that she wasn't fit for the job, as in order to steal a person's powers, it was necessary for them to admit defeat from the bottom of their heart, which is incredibly strong and incomprehensible. Furthermore, Momo, who they were targeting, possessed an "ID Cosmos", uncapable of fearing death, meaning that to break her spirit they would have needed to thoroughly attack the people around her such as relatives and friends, which they couldn't see Adachi doing because of her kind spirit.Adachi rejected their hypotesis and claimed multiple times that she would do it, also because she needed to help her mother and cover her hospital fees. Unexpectedly, the quiet agent smacked her head with his briefcase and pushed her down, asking her to accept her defeat. He continued pummeling her while repeating these words but Adachi couldn't think of anything else other than her smiling mother's face. Suddenly, the henchman was kicked in the face and sent rolling down the ground. Adachi looked up in tears and saw the officer Bega requesting assistance from the station and pulling out his baton, when suddenly the agent manifested the Fairy-Tale Card which the cop recognized from the incident. The man was shocked by the fact that Bega hadn't fallen under the yokai's control and recognized the astronomically low chances of that happening. In order to escape he instead broke into Adachi's mind who jumped on Bega from behind, albeit he easily put her down and immobilized her. Once he saw her regaining her consciousness and screaming in pain, Bega realized what had just happened and looked forward, noticing that the man was nowhere to be seen. It's still unknown if Bega brought Adachi to the police station next.
Murakami getting detained by the police.
Back at Kami High, the police was called to arrest Murakami but also ambulances were requested because of Aira's severe injuries and Hase's being unconscious. They waited at the front gate of Kami High along with Queen and the cops arrived, detaining Murakami while Koki explained to an officer that he threatened to spread her photos in her underwear, who thanked the girl and suggested to come the next day at the station to give a more detailed statement. Koki looked beat so Queen wondered if she was doing alright and told her that she did the right thing, however Koki felt guilty for putting the others at risk just for her cause. Aira was transported inside an ambulance, shouting to Okarun who hurried over and proposed to accompany her to the hospital. Rin also wondered if she should come but the girl blushed, stating that she would prefer if only Okarun came with her. Queen thwarted her romantic plan and entered the vehicle, telling the students to return home. Aira shouted desperately for Okarun to visit her and the group revealed their worries about her conditions. Okarun inquired if Rin was doing alright, reassuring him that Aira and Koki both defended her from the attackers. He also feared for Hase's wellbeing who had just woken up in confusion and fear inside the ambulance, although Kinta stated that they shouldn't care about him since he was one of the enemies. Instead, he brought attention to what Aira had disclosed and the fact that both Koki and Murakami were recruited by a certain individual to steal powers. Okarun thus asked if this person was looking to obtain Momo's powers, however Kinta shockingly did not know who he was referring to because of the Danmara's curse accelerating and causing her to get forgotten by the world.
Rin, Kinta, Koki, Okarun and Manjiro having dinner inside Queen's infirmary.
Kinta then disclosed his thoughts on the possible enemy being part of a secret and invisible organization whose members didn't know who their allies and enemies were. Hearing this, Okarun believed that there was no way to catch the mastermind, yet Kinta believed that associations who did not treat their agents as people would crumble down sooner or later, meaning they had to strengthen the bonds of the History and Culture Research Club to win the battle of attrition. Later, Manjiro suddenly showed up at the school under Seiko's orders to provide Okarun with a weapon after Seiko and her group were attacked by the Kito Family and the Typhoon Human, fearing for his safety. Manjiro contacted Queen, who he previously met during an exorcism and got closer over time, receiving permission to use her infirmary so they could have dinner together inside. As they ate, Manjiro elaborated on the orchestrator who presumably set up a competition for people to steal powers with kozuka knives. He revealed that his guild of exorcists was already going after them, so they had to lay low until they succeded. Okarun opened the box to reveal an Oni Club, a powerful yet cryptic tool which Manjiro would have trained Okarun to use.
