Kozuka Knives Arc[]
Kashimoto and Payase meet up with Seiko Ayase at a restaurant after the spirit medium seeks their help. While Payase is given entrusted by Seiko to look after a cursed trunk, Kashimoto is asked by Seiko if he has any knowledge on how to turn a pygmy to normal size, being informed that her granddaughter was shrunken down after she had escaped from the cursed trunk. Kashimoto answers yes and that the key is the Uchide-no-kozuchi that is in the possession of the deity Daikokuten. He further explains that Daikokuten and the other god Okuninushi are one and the same and recommends that Seiko visit the Izumo Grand Shrine. Grateful for the advice, Seiko gets ready to leave. As Kashimoto expresses his willingness to help her, he is unexpectedly kicked aside by a jiangshi amidst a group of similar beings.[1]
After Seiko is taken down by the Minotaur, Kashimoto and Payase include themselves in the battle by punching the Minotaur away together with their power. Kashimoto voices his displeasure being kicked out of nowhere earlier and unleashes his power, along with Payase, in preparation to face the Minotaur and the jiangshi.[2] Seiko rises to her feet after enduring injuries inflicted by the Minotaur, likening her ordeal to that of the most excruciating osteopathy clinic imaginable, a remark that strikes a chord with Kashimoto while leaving Payase perplexed. After being informed by Seiko that the Minotaur's body is made of iron, and his strength increases every time he is hit, Kashimoto and Payase are instructed by her to handle fighting the Minotaur while she goes to retrieve her bag. As the jiangshi charge in, Kashimoto uses Aphoom-Zhah to knock them back. After Payase is thrown by the Minotaur, Kashimoto tells Seiko as he comes in to attack the Minotaur with Aphoom-Zhah. He briefly stands his ground but is soon punch to the wall by the Minotaur. Kashimoto and Payase then try again to attack the Minotaur as Seiko attempts to reclaim her bag but are overpowered after the Minotaurs claims to have reached his peak. As the Minotaur takes hold of Seiko and begins crushing her with his tough musculature, Kashimoto comes to attack him with Aphoom-Zhah and continues as Seiko instructed in light of the attack also affecting her. With the Minotaur's body cooled down by Kashimoto's Aphoom-Zhah, Payase manages to free Seiko by extending his arms through the Minotaur's arms, causing them to break. As the Minotaur becomes confused by how this has happened, Kashimoto explains to him that his inability to feel pain led to his downfall and reveals that his Ice Flames can reach absolute zero, resulting in his iron body being susceptible to hydrogen penetration. In the end, Seiko finishes the bull off with the use of the talisman in her purse.[3]

Trivia[]
- Payase and Kashimoto are based off of the urban legend broadcast duo Yasuhiro Hayase and Makoto Kishimoto, also known as the Toshi Boys.
- Payase and Kashimoto's clothes featuring ripple pattern eyes matches the ones found on Ludris' chest and Count Saint-Germain's pins on his collar, although Kashimoto's ripple eye including a triangle closely matches with the two than Payase's. Interestingly, both Kashimoto and Payase are collectors of the paranormal like Count Saint-Germain. Whether there is connection between them and the two is unknown.
- The symbols most likely give reference to the Eye of Providence, a symbol recognized by Freemasons as a representation of God's watchful eye over humanity. It is most commonly depicted on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States on the American one-dollar bill.
- Payase and Kashimoto's combined attack knocking back the Minotaur, along with their bird theme powers, could be based on the Fenghuang/Hōō in Eastern mythology. Known as "Chinese phoenixes", these birds come in a yin-yang pair and represent grace and virtue.
- Kashimoto's technique, Aphoom-Zhah. is named after Aphoom-Zhah, one of the Great Old Ones appearing specifically in Lin Carter's The Acolyte of the Flame short story inside the expanded Cthulhu Mythos.
