The Kur (深
In Dandadan, they serve as the main antagonistic group during the Space Globalists Arc.
Overview[]
Biology[]

The Kur outside their exosuits.
The Kur are octopus-like in appearance with a set of tentacles for a mouth. They also vary in size.
The Kur, resembling the soft-bodied octopus, are incapable of surviving in a planet's atmosphere for long without the support of a exosuit. Though they can function normally when exposed to the atmosphere for a short period of time, it is unknown as to what their limit is until they die, however, it is evident to be less than a day, as the Kur Okarun defeated died sometime between the evening of when they fought and the morning the next day Momo came home to find her friends injured and the dead Kur in one of the beds laid out by Mr. Mantis Shrimp.

Advance Unit[]
The Advance Unit (先行部隊 Senkō Butai?) were a group of ten Kur members whose role was to track down and eliminate Bamora and summon their main force to Earth as their next conquest. Their search for the female Sumerian led to them defeating the Serpo, Okarun, Aira, and Jiji, with the former two being robbed of their data and technology and the single kintama to power up their gate that would summon the main force to invade Earth. Following the gate being opened, the Advance Unit was defeated by Momo and her allies.
Inter-species Relationships[]

The Kur feeding Sumerians to a Big Mama to make exosuits.
As invaders, the Kur are hostile, violent, and ruthless towards other races. From their perspective, the species of the planets they take over are primarily seen as being "material" for the creation of exosuits for them to wear and enjoy when utilized on the battlefield. Lifeforms who possess great capabilities are seen by the Kur as having the potential to become extraordinary exosuits that is highly valued. Additionally, the Kur make use of the possession's lifeforms leave behind if they can be of any benefit to them and may also choose to enslave them to do their bidding, as the Serpos were altered by a Kur to act as their minions against Momo.
Despite this, the Kur are opened to welcoming strong individuals into their group, with Count Saint-Germain being an example of a non-Kur member. The operator of a jet booster exosuit within the Advance Unit also appears to be a humanoid alien much like Count Saint-Germain.
Military Strength[]
The Kur's military might has proven to be immense, with their invasion of Sumer nearly bringing the Sumerians to the brink of extinction, and though the war dragged on with the resistance, they still maintained the upper hand. Even with only a few members being sent to Earth as their next planet to dominate, the Kur were formidable enough to decisively crush the Serpo and steal their advanced technology for themselves, increasing their power. They were also too overwhelming for humans who possess some sort of supernatural ability. Had it not been for Reiko Kashima's involvement in annihilating the main force, the Kur's invasion of Earth would have most likely led to their victory, as Rokuro made it clear to Momo and her allies that there would be nothing they could do once the entire army assembled. The Kur also formed an alliance with Count Saint-Germain, making them an even bigger threat than what they have shown capable of, prompting the Serpo to alert the other worlds of the Kur's activity.

The Kur in their exosuits.
The Kur wear exosuits that are manufactured from Big Mamas by feeding them natives to the planet they had taken over as nourishment. While they primarily serve as a safety garment to help keep them alive in the atmosphere of foreign planets, they further act as weaponry for warfare, possessing highly advanced combat capabilities, such as manipulating space and forming an orb of vibration around the wearer. The stolen technological resources from the Serpo have also boasted their military power.
Spaceships[]
Main Force[]

The Main Force.
The Kur possessed a main force (本隊 hontai?) comprising of a fleet of spacecrafts, with the most prominent ship in the fleet being a large battleship. These spaceships were used during the invasion of Sumer where they laid waste to the land. After arriving on Earth, the Advance Unit summoned a gate within an Empty Space, using Okarun's kintama as a battery, that allowed smaller spaceships from the main force to pass through one by one until the entire fleet arrived, which was successfully done before the gate was closed by Okarun. Though the fleet nearly came close to initiating their invasion of Earth by disrupting Empty Space with their launched attack, Reiko Kashima used her powers to destroy the main ship and eliminate the main force after trapping them inside her mirror.
Synopsis[]
Kaiju Arc[]
Three Serpo clones notice an unknown presence in their base and warn the intruder that the building is their territory. Suddenly, two of the clones get crushed with an advanced technology and the last clone gets grabbed by an alien, who points out that his things are his things, but the serpo's also belong to him.
Jiji enters Bamora's Kaiju and accidentally sends out a signal which the same alien picks up, standing on top of Serpo's corpses and surrounded by mysterious beings who supposedly belong to his group.
Space Globalists Arc[]
As the group returns home from school, Jiji and Aira are catapulted into Empty Space and they get approached by the Suda Ko Kur, the Takonoka Ru Patcho Kur and the Ta Komeshi Kur. The three open fire and try to defeat the two teenagers, utilizing their powerful exosuits which are able to even defeat Evil Eye after Aira splashed water on Jiji to receive the yokai's aid. They are brutally beat and the Takonoka Ru Patcho Kur slithers out of his suit, revealing his true form similar to Earth's octopi, but Shiratori envelops themselves in a hair ball to escape. The three aliens try to use life-sign detection, but the planet is covered by mysterious white orbs which block their view. They have to leave and the two humans escape safely, who need to warn the others about possible attacks.
At the same time, Okarun gets attacked by the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur, the Ta Koshin Jo Kur, the Head Exosuit Kur, the Ta Kowasa Kur, the Mantis Exosuit Kur and the Hastur Kur. He activates Turbo Granny's powers but he stands no chance against them, even by going all out. Defeated, they utilize a serpoian apparatus, stolen from their base, to extract his Kintama. They kidnap him to study his internal workings, although he's saved by Mr. Mantis Shrimp and the aliens leave due to them running out of time.
Momo finishes her shift at the Moe Moe Kikoho and prepares to leave, but the door is locked. She turns around to see the maid cafe's costumers reveal themselves as clones. She tries to defend herself but their sheer quantity is too much for her. They immobilize her and pull out another serpoian apparatus to extract her genitals, when suddenly a Serpo appears and rescues her, demanding the object. He explains to her how they'll have to crush the clones with two irons and they cooperate, being able to convert one of the enemy clones into a Serpo. A clash between the two parties intensifies while Momo discovers the Imotako Kur on the ceiling, piercing the Serpos and turning them on his side. She tries to damage him, but attacks pass through him as Rokuro points out that he's attacking from another dimension. On the point of defeat, Momo remembers Seiko using the power of words on her bat to give a stronger blow. Recalling the ritual she performs as a maid, she uses her psychic powers to emit a Moe Moe Tri-Beam. The attack passes through dimensions and annihilates the alien, freeing the clones from its control. Rokuro makes a truce with Momo for helping him recollect his stolen merchandise.
Back at the Ayase Residence, Mr. Mantis Shrimp treats the injured kids and the Head Exosuit Kur, though he unfortunately died of injuries given to him by Okarun during the ambush. Momo scavenges the Head Exosuit and discovers the ball which powers it, identical to Bamora's. This leads to Ayase kicking her out of the house believing she's a spy which informed the aliens about their positions and powers. Rokuro reveals to the Family that the aliens are globalists from outer space and they are trying to invade the Earth. They are few in numbers, but their exosuits make up for it. The aliens who attacked them are an Advance Unit, who will need lots of energy to call in their main force. Thanks to the data they stole from the Serpo, they found out about the Family's powers which would prove as a strong battery for the warp. Despite only stealing Okarun's ball, they could still attempt to steal and use the teens' yokais to power it. Rokuro approximates their arrival to be in five days, so they must get the kintama back before the main fleet arrives.
Momo, Jiji, Aira and Mr. Mantis Shrimp take shelter in the abandoned Serpo's base, where they activate combat-use simulators to train against holograms of the Kur that ambushed them.
The Family gets blown up inside the Ayase Residence car by the aliens on the day of the Kur Invasion. Jiji, Aira and the Dover Demon fight against the aliens while Momo and Rokuro search for the Kintama. The trio seems to lose at first, but thanks to Jiji's "Evil Gun", they gain back momentum, defeating the Ta Kowasa Kur who slithers out of the broken exosuit. Meanwhile, the duo gets stopped by the Ta Koshin Jo Kur and the Jet Booster Exosuit Kur but Bamora suddenly joins the fight in her Kaiju and defeats the former. The leader of the Advance Unit, the Hastur Kur, arrives and help defeat Bamora, executing her. Momo tries to save her but she taps into her aura, having her and the Family watch her life on the planet Sumer, victim to an invasion caused by the same aliens.
Bamora grew up with Banga, Aja and Tome, fighting the octopi every day. In a forest, their battalion discovers a Big Mama who was eating Sumerian soldiers to produce exosuits for the invaders' species. Later, they are lured in an empty field to find the other remaining battalion, but they are decimated by the Kur forces, leaving only the four alive. They decide to trust an old sumerian myth about a warp gate inside the Pyramid, which the aliens use as base to make offerings to Big Mama. Bamora tries to free the enslaved men but fails, almost dooming her squad. An injured Banga discovers and enters the God of Sumer exosuit, inciting the men to take back their planet from the invaders. During the huge chaos, they discover the warp gate has energy for only one person, so her stepmother pushes Bamora inside it, sending her to Earth. The Advance Unit appears behind her, promising to chase the girl throughout the universe and killing her because she stole their exosuit. They demand Banga to use the Sumerian slab and begin torturing Aja to force her.
Rokuro uses his apparatus to cure Bamora and dies, which makes the shield around them collapse and the fight begins again. Okarun finally enters empty space and reveals the power of the spiral to the trio. With an honed "Evil Gun" and a "Pirouette, Noble Drill", they defeat the members of the Advance Unit. However, more ships pass through the warp gate, giving support to the Hastur Kur and the Jet Booster Kur and they easily crush Momo. She's saved by Okarun's spiral powers and the arrival of the Family, with Jiji turned into Evil Eye, signs the start of the final battle. Ayase notices how the Hastur stores its carved out space into its back which acts as a different dimension. Utilizing her powers and with the aid of Okarun, the two defeat the Leader of the Advance Unit. Still, the Hastur Kur survives and takes over the Bamora's exosuit, throwing her in the void. Kinta, who read the note meant for Seiko, reached the Family with its nanoskin motorbike and flies towards her, forming the Great Kinta. The two titans clash and Kinta comes out on top, copying the same power bomb attacked which Aira and Momo used to defeat Bamora's exosuit.
Although they defeated all the invaders, the warp gate opens completely and the main fleet arrives. The massive destruction it causes begins to tear apart Empty Space, and at the same time, Reiko Kashima enters it and is delighted to finally get her revenge on Momo. Reiko notices the attacks of the Kur and she's reminded of her tragic death during the war. She takes out her mirror and begins punching it, replicating it on every single shard inside the city and the ships. This completely annihilates the Kur's fleet and traps their remains inside her mirror. After Reiko Kashima recognizes the romance between Okarun and Momo, she leaves, while empty space finally closes and returns everything back to normal.
The Serpo begin scanning the data inside the Hastur, discovering that they come from deep space and invade every planet in their way. They define their species as "Kur", the people of the depths. However, they discover that the mysterious and notorious Count Saint-Germain collaborated with them in some way.
Kozuka Knives Arc[]
At some point after the invasion, the wielder of the Jet Booster Exosuit awakens to find herself out of her suit in a ruined area. Spotting Count Saint-Germain standing before her after he speaks, she instinctively adopts a defensive stance. The man gestures towards her damaged exosuit beside her, suggesting that if it is indeed hers, she will need a replacement as it is no longer fully operational. Curious about his intentions, she asks what he wants from her. Count Saint-Germain explains that he requires her assistance for a certain issue and reassures her that she has the right to refuse. However, he highlights that rejecting his offer and permitting him to leave would compel her to face the challenges of Earth's heavy gravity on her own, a reality that becomes apparent as he notices her difficulty in remaining upright while they speak. With this said, the alien is asked by him if she is willingly to let him help her.
Trivia[]
- The name Kur is a name for the Mesopotamian underworld in the Sumerian language. The direct translation for the word is "Ground" when used to refer to the Underworld.
- The physical form of the Kur outside their suits may well be a reference to Cthulhu, the extraterrestrial diety created by H. P. Lovecraft. They may also be a reference to the Martians from H.G. Wells War of the Worlds, cause their octopus like appearance are similar to how the book describes them with the Hastur Kur being more closer to what a War of the Worlds Martians would look like.
