A tiny piece of Serpo technology which senses the users' brainwaves, allowing them to communicate telephatically. It features a HUD (or Heads-Up Display) and various functions.

Appearance[]

It's a small chip with a printed circuit board and a black case. Because of its appearance, Turbo Granny compares it to Nori seaweed.

Overview[]

The HUD projected by the miniature communicator.

The HUD projected by the miniature communicator.

Once placed on the skin, the communicator automatically links to the user's brainwaves, regardless of species or yokai nature. This allows the people connected to the network to communicate telephatically, preventing loud sounds such as explosions from interefering during conversations.

By tapping the device once, a map gets projected and displays the terrain surrounding the user along with cameras, coordinates and the positions of allies and foes. By tapping it twice, the wielder can switch between cameras and by clicking it thrice, the HUD turns off.

History[]

Kintama Hunt Saga[]

Space Globalists Arc[]

Rokuro most likely provided the group with these tiny communicators and before leaving to fight the invaders, Aira placed one on Okarun's face just in case he regained consciousness before they left. On their way to the city inside the mobile Ayase Residence, Momo ordered Jiji to wear it so they could communicate on the battlefield with ease. She then explained to him its various functions and the necessity to collaborate since three of them would need to focus on one alien at a time to have any chance of defeating them.

Later, when Momo touched Bamora's aura with her powers, she was able to see her memories and because of the communicator, Aira, Jiji, Mr. Mantis Shrimp, Rokuro and Okarun, the latter even being outside the Empty Space, accessed the vision too. Following Okarun's entrance in the pocket dimension, she contacted Jiji and Aira, informing them that he was on his way and revealed to them the power of the spiral. Thanks to this information, Jiji honed his Evil Gun and defeated the Suda Ko and Ta Komeshi, while Aira developed a new spiraling move called Pirouette Noble Drill to eliminate Takonoka Ru Patcho.

After the celebratory dinner, Turbo Granny found one of the communicators and tries to lick it, believing it's nori seaweed. When she realized it was not, she placed it on her forehead, connecting her to the UFO of the Serpo who were currently downloading the data about the Kur. Upon finding out that Count Saint-Germain collaborated with these aliens, the cat was furious and called him "Hyper Geezer".

Danmara Arc[]

When Okarun begs Turbo Granny to pull out Momo from a powerful cursed trunk, she understands how drastic the situation truly is and she recruits both Rin and her guardian spirit Mai Kawabanga, racing towards the Renjaku Apartments. She hands out the Serpo phone to Rin and leaves her outside on standby while her and Okarun enter the diorama, planning to communicate between the realms. After Fairy-Tale Card sets off into the skies to escape the wicker trunk, Turbo Granny pulls out the communicator and successfully contacts Rin, who has already placed a large black cloth on the ground and spread around countless talismans. The cat orders her to carefully lay the diorama onto the black carpet so they can start removing the figurines without also being transported inside. She warns her that even a slightest crack to the figurines of the players would kill their real counterparts, however Rin wonders how they can lay it there without first lifting it with their hands. A girl attempts to move it by using a couple of sticks as leverage when she's immediately sent to Danmara upon contact, frustrating the Turbo Granny with that reckless move. She instructs to use the black cords they had brought to slip them under the wicker trunk and lift it, which must be done by Mai thanks to her natural resistance to curses, meaning that she might not be pulled inside like the other humans. Rin requests her childhood friend to do it but she astonishingly refuses due to her previous heated argument with Turbo Granny.

Mai instead forces herself onto Rin to transform her into an idol, planning to use her gravitational powers combined with her singing to levitate the figurines out. Unaware of this, Turbo Granny screams around in anger and panic as Okarun grabs the miniature communicator and tries to speak to Rin with no avail.

Trivia[]

  • In Chapter 110, Mr. Mantis Shrimp gets mistakenly drawn without the miniature communicator.
  • After Chapter 111, everybody loses the devices with no explanation.
  • After Chapter 158, both Rin and Okarun lose their devices permanently.
