Momo Ayase, Manjiro, Naki Kito, Seiko Ayase, Mr. Mantis Shrimp and Taro vs. Evil Eye is a battle that took place in the forest surrounding the Byakuja Village's volcano. The bloodlusted Evil Eye escaped the Tsuchinoko's lair and tried to murder Momo Ayase, Manjiro and Naki Kito. The trio couldn't keep up with his overwhelming strength, but thankfully, Seiko Ayase came to the rescue along with Mr. Mantis Shrimp and Taro, planning to seal the dangerous yokai.
Prologue[]
Although the Evil Eye was initially incapacitated after his clash with Okarun, the boy becomes stuck after trying to pull Turbo Granny out of the Tsuchinoko's phlegm, leaving both of them trapped. A short time after, the Evil Eye regains his senses and escapes the lair, venturing into the forest to fight.
Momo using the Tsuchinoko as a hose to stop the magma.
At the same time, Momo is able to kill the Tsuchinoko by starting a fire that engulfes the cursed house so she can contact the firemen and spray tons of water into the ground, preventing the worm from breathing from his skin. The Great Serpent emerges and Momo destroys the house, preventing the creature from escaping the sun's ultraviolet rays, thus drying it up and killing it. The dying worm regurgitates the swallowed Kito Family as the volcano erupts, who shift the blame on Momo since she let the prophecy unravel. Momo realizes that the legend got misinterpreted and decides to save Byakuja Village from the magma, dragging the Tsuchinoko's corpse to the Hot Springs Manju and use its body as a hose to stop the lava's path.
The Kito Family is enraged at the girl for violating their god and they try to eliminate her. Out of nowhere, Manjiro, the priest of the Tsuchinoko Shrine, jumps in and defends Momo with his martial arts, revealing himself to be Seiko's pupil. He instructs her to keep up her work while he holds off the Kitos, but the Great Serpent's corpse is unexpectedly targeted by the grudge ball of the Evil Eye, marking his arrival.
Battle[]
Momo, Manjiro and Naki facing the Evil Eye.
The yokai doesn't waste time and jumps in, sweeping the floor with the men of the Kito Family along with his grudge ball. He runs towards the matriarch Naki, rising his leg up to his head. When he slams it down, Naki manages to parry it and stuns him, but her right arm is completely broken. Momo begs Jiji to stop and she grabs Naki with her psychokinesis, saving her from another strong kick of the Evil Eye. The yokai continues his assault when he's suddenly struck by Manjiro's dropkick. While falling, he spins his body around and puts his leg above the priest, sending him crashing into the ground. Manjiro reacts quickly and shields his head with his arms on impact, although the Evil Eye follows up by slamming his foot downwards. Before he can land, Momo saves Manjiro too with her powers, asking if he's hurt. The yokai is tired of her intrusion in his fights and decides to eliminate her first, even when she declares that she doesn't want Jiji to be a murderer. He also asks about Okarun's whereabouts, though the spirit refuses to answer and begins walking towards them. Manjiro admits that he's not strong enough to face him and Naki blames the entire incident on them, but Momo is determined to save his friend and they all ready up to face the yokai.
Seiko and Taro descending from the UFO.
As he charges at them with murderous intent, Momo spots the flying grudge ball from the side and screams at her allies to duck, barely dodging the projectile aimed at their heads. Momo looks up and freezes when she sees the Evil Eye ready to crush her with a downward kick, but thankfully Manjiro pushes her out of the way and the yokai misses, smashing the ground instead. In the cloud of dust emerging from the crater, Naki ambushes the spirit and successfully delivers a strong blow with her Jennifer Lopez Anaconda on his ribs, although the enemy seems unconcerned. After saving Naki again with her psychokinesis from a second kick, he holds the Evil Eye's arms in place and calls for Manjiro, who does a sliding tackle while screaming "Daisetsuzan Mountains Drop", elevating the Evil Eye's legs from the ground and making him stumble over. This allows Momo to immobilize him by holding both arms and legs until the grudge ball returns and pierces through her powers, causing her to groan in pain. The yokai frees himself and targets Manjiro right next to him, performing a windmill that catapults Manjiro into a tree. Momo's ability hasn't regenerated yet and she finds herself unarmed as the Evil Eye leaps towards her, ready to deal a killing blow. Out of nowhere, Mr. Mantis Shrimp steps in front of her and deploys a storm of punches that force the yokai to distance himself. Momo asks him why he has come to help them but her focus shifts when a beam of light is emitted from the sky, and as she looks up, she sees her grandmother slowly descending on top of Taro from an UFO.
The Evil Eye being sealed inside Taro.
Manjiro is told by Seiko to perform the Tohokamiemitame incantation and she then hops off Taro, instructing him to charge on her signal. Now on the ground, she rushes towards the spirit alongside Mr. Mantis Shrimp, who unfortunately gets sent rolling away by the grudge ball. Seiko and the Evil Eye engage in close combat as she tries to smash his head with her bat. Even though she finally slams his chin upwards, the Evil Eye doesn't tremble and counterattacks with a knee strike. Seiko ducks under it and goes for his other foot when he suddenly leaps so he can fall back down and crush her body. Seiko spits her cigarette out, momentarily blocking the Evil Eye's view and she thus successfully evades his foot. With no time to dodge, she deals a powerful blow with her bat that plunks him into the ground. Now that the spirit is vulnerable, she shouts Taro's name and the anatomical model starts running in their direction. The Evil Eye gets back on his feet and punches him, breaking him in thousands of pieces. Momo initially thinks that their plan has failed, however the yokai is shocked when he spots talismans attached to each flying piece of Taro. Thanks to Manjiro's incantation, Taro's body parts start reassembling around the yokai, unable to escape. Everybody recovers and Seiko exclaims that they can leave with the captured Evil Eye sealed inside the anatomical model.
Aftermath[]
Now that the Evil Eye has been taken care off and Chiquitita is now using the Tsuchinoko as a hose to stop the magma thanks to the UFO, Momo rushes to the Cursed House to save Okarun. She cannot remove the debris because her powers are still recharging, so Mr. Mantis Shrimp leaps forward and clears it for her, shockingly revealing that the Tsuchinoko's lair is now filled to the brim with lava. Momo still holds onto hope, shouting that she's going to jump in despite the alien begging her not to. Chiquitita arrives with the UFO to help, lifting in the air a massive rock that Momo opens up, showing Okarun and Turbo Granny still alive inside thanks to the Great Serpent's mucus which insulated the walls. Okarun was sure that Momo would have saved him and he exits, tripping into her arms. Although he initially apologizes, Momo hugs him back, grateful that he's alive.
Anime and Manga Differences[]
Chiquitita sings a song to cheer on his allies as they descend from the UFO. Seiko approaches the yokai and swings her bat twice, but he evades it and does a spinning kick. She ducks below it and tries to strike him but the Evil Eye locks the bat in place under his knee, although Seiko puts enough strength to force the yokai's leg upwards, freeing it. The Evil Eye then backflips over a third bat swing and he leaps towards her, crushing the ground. Unlike the manga where Mr. Mantis Shrimp is knocked out after the first grudge ball hit, he returns and throws a jab that the enemy narrowly avoids, countering by slamming his foot in his face and sends him rolling backwards. The alien gets back on his feet and unleashes two more punches in vain as the Evil Eye catapults him out of the fight with a devastating kick.
Seiko jumps in with her bat but the yokai surpisingly grabs it with both hands in the air to launch himself skyward and away from the woman. Seiko turns around and runs in his direction, first striking downwards which he parries before faking a swing. The Evil Eye delivers a punch but she repositions on the side and tries to hit his head, though the yokai does the same and he counters with another jab followed by an uppercut. Seiko still avoids the attacks and as the enemy throws another punch, she finds an opening and slams his head. The spirit doesn't stutter and unleashes a rising kick which she evades by throwing herself to the ground and counters with her bat. The Evil Eye jumps over it and the sequence then matches again with the manga, but instead of slamming him into the ground, he manages to parry the bat with his leg two times before Seiko calls for Taro, who starts running in their direction.
The two don't stop fighting, with Seiko zooming in to strike him and the Evil Eye backing off to charge his leg up and sending it down towards her. It's unclear what happens exactly, but from a distance the Evil Eye parries two more swing bats before leaping into the air and trying to punch Seiko from behind. He's not fast enough and she launches him away with a kick, forcing Taro to change trajectory.
