Momo Ayase, Okarun and Kinta Sakata vs. Bamora is a battle that took place in Empty Space inside an apartment complex in Kamigoe City. Believing that a ghost had Okarun's last missing Kintama, the duo made its way there along with Kinta who followed them in secret. The fight begins when he's suddenly launched towards them by Bamora and Empty Space is activated.
Prologue[]
While Momo talks to Miko and Kei, the duo brings up the Apartment Complex specter topic which has sparked in their group chat. Because Momo doesn't have a phone, they show her the photo of a ghost that appears to be in possession of Okarun's last kintama. Seeing this, she rushes to inform Okarun.
Kinta trying to become popular by using spicy talk.
Meanwhile, Kinta Sakata, a student in Okarun's class, confronts the boy and wonders how he has recently become close with Momo Ayase and Aira Shiratori. When Okarun is then approached by Momo talking about his family jewel and the Class Rep Rin Sawaki who asks the girl not to intrude into their class, Kinta comes to the conclusion that he's popular thanks to his spicy talk. He tries to get the attention of the girls with a nonsensical "Ten Gallon Wiener" one-liner, though it backfires on him. Still certain that spicy talk is the way to go, he stalks Momo and Okarun outside of school as they make their way to the apartment complex to figure out what Okarun does different. Just then, Bamora, who has been using the building as a refuge, spots the trio and decides to attack them to determine if they are strong. Kinta blows his cover and tries to greet Momo and Okarun when he's suddenly picked up by Bamora while she's invisible.
Battle[]
Bamora opening Empty Space and starting the fight.
Bamora hurls Kinta in their direction and the boy realizes that he might end up kissing Momo, though Okarun reacts quickly and pushes her out of the way, making Kinta crush into the floor. Momo remembers him from school and believes that he might be the spirit with the ball, however Okarun indicates the flying jewel at the end of the hallway and that they are now trapped in Empty Space. The boy zooms forward in his transformation while Momo uses her psychokinesis to hold it still, but Bamora is incredibly fast and evades the physic hands while running towards them. Okarun touches the ghost and is shocked to discover that it has a physical form, although he gets blown back and pummeled with multiple hits, forcing him to retreat. He informs Momo before Bamora decides to escape and she hops onto Okarun's back to catch her, ordering the pervert to watch out for their bags if he doesn't want to get murdered. Kinta keeps talking dirty and frustrates her even more, although he can't understand why she's mad because she too uses spicy language as she shouts for the ball spirit to stop.
Momo is struck by the invisible Bamora.
After going up a few ramps of stairs the duo comes out in the long external hallway facing the street, wondering where the spirit has gone. Suddenly, Momo is struck out of Okarun's back and the boy can't turn around fast enough before he too gets hit and launched away. She tries to grab the ball again but it flees in the other direction and jumps down the building, surprising the two. Momo returns on Okarun and shouts at him to hold on as they drop, using her powers as a rope while descending. They find Bamora but before they can land, the jewel comes flying back and strikes them, forcing Momo to detach the rope and protect herself and Okarun. They fall down multiple floors of the building and crash onto the pavement, with both of them having to catch their breath and complaining about fighting an invisible enemy, rendering both of their powers useless. Their break is cut short when they hear Kinta scream so they rush back inside the building with the mission to save him. Out of nowhere, Kinta is seen falling outside the balcony while the two are climbing the stairs and Momo manages to catch him with her psychokinesis. The pervert thanks her but she instead shouts at him for leaving their bags behind and getting in the way.
Momo spotting the true outline of Bamora's kaiju.
Suddenly Bamora appears at the end of the hallway and Kinta decides that it's his time to shine, performing a Jetstream Attack in which he rolls towards the enemy. Bamora easily dodges it and the duo is mad at his interference, however Kinta reveals that the spirit might be using retro-reflective projection and they will be able to see its form if they look at it from three directions. Momo surprisingly listens to his advice and leaps out of the building, slinging around with her powers and she actually spots Bamora's form, succesfully capturing it with her powers. Unable to move, Okarun decides to go all-out, crashing into Bamora and sending her flying through the wall at the end of the hallway, making her crash into the ground below and taking her out of the fight.
Aftermath[]
The kaiju without its retro-reflective projection.
Kinta is able to dodge the attack just in time and Momo compliments him for the intel given, making him go on a tangent on how retro-reflective projection is used in sci-fi and the way the technology works. They walk towards the defeated ghost and discover that it's actually a space kaiju, fascinating Okarun. Kinta noses in talking about the family jewel he helped defeat with his clues, though Momo punches him again due to his perverted talk. Nonetheless, she points out that they could only see it when it was invisible and now it's gone, so she wants to investigate up close. As Kinta begs Okarun to reveal why only he can use spicy talk, the kaiju activates its emergency defense system and takes control, enlargening until it can see the trio through the broken wall, continuing the fight.
Anime and Manga Differences[]
After striking Momo and Okarun, Bamora climbs up the building instead of dropping down, reaching the roof. Okarun leaps and delivers a strong kick that flings her onto some tubes, though she's unphased by the attack. Momo runs towards her and tries to clap the flying ball between her hands. Bamora is caught between them and slips upwards but she's launched into Momo's psychic punch, catapulting her to the other side of the roof. Okarun starts running on the siderails and jumps to hit her yet Bamora strikes him and sends him crashing on the railing. Momo reaches to check him out and Bamora uses this opportunity to drop down. So instead of leaping over the balcony like in the manga, the two jump from the top of the roof.
When Kinta reveals that Bamora might be using retro-reflective projection, she trembles and runs into an apartment to avoid their strategy to work while the boy chases her. Bamora keeps crashing into different rooms as Momo spots her and Kinta from the outside thanks to her aura detection. Momo slings inside the room she's in and throws a kick that launches her outside where Okarun is, ringing on a doorbell to be let in. Just then, the three surround the ball and Momo spots her glitching projection, allowing her to catch Bamora.
