WARNING! |
Momo Ayase and Okarun vs. Mandrill Alien is a battle that took place in Empty Space generated over Kami High. Momo and Okarun are attacked by a genius space scientist resembling a mandrill who plans to turn all humans into cans through a vicious game of can tag so he can later dissect them. Because Okarun can't use his powers inside the Can's territory, they must outsmart the scientist to take him down.
Prologue[]
The Territory Can on the roof of Kami High.
Because Okarun began working as a paperboy early in the morning without informing Momo, he told her that she could go to school without waiting for him. Momo refused but still complained when he arrived late, even though she then stopped to use her powers to pick up multiple cans which had fallen from a trashbin. They ultimately arrived too late and Momo was punished with an extra lesson after school, which was even more annoying because she had to work at her part-time job in the afternoon. She inquires about his recent delayed arrivals and he lies, stating that he was checking out some ruins and she should have gone ahead. Okarun then shifts the blame on Momo for coming in late instead, irritating her and prompting her to go to her classroom, telling the boy that they won't walk together to school anymore. He obviously regrets it but she storms off and starts sulking on her desk. In the meantime, the Mandrill Alien had opened Empty Space and turned every human without spiritual powers in a can thanks to the Territory Can he placed on the roof before making his way to Momo's classroom.
Battle[]
The can zombies turning humans into ones.
The scientist flings a can that caves in the window next to Momo, startling her. Although he missed, he copes by saying that Momo had somehow deflected the shot, something he couldn't understand even with his 300 IQ. The girl turns around and notices that they are in Empty Space, recognizing the mandrill as an alien and preparing for battle. He orders her to stand still and swings his bat with such speed that most desks in the classroom are hurled towards Momo and catapult her outside through the broken windows. She barely avoids the glass shards and manifests her psychic arms to cling onto the building and slow her descent from the third floor. The genius scientist is mad that she deflected his shot once again even though she's an earth primate as he begins dropping many of his cans from the classroom above. Momo screams that he shouldn't litter and covers herself with her psychic hand, but as she looks upwards, she notices the massive can standing on the roof. Meanwhile, Okarun is chased by a myriad of students who had been turned into can zombies and reunites with Momo. The alien informs the duo that they'll too turn into a can if they are touched by one, a technology he has developed with his extraordinary IQ which covers a 100-kilometer radius around the Territory Can which he plans to use for capturing and dissecting every last human on the planet. He boasts about his ingenuity but still warns them that the Territory Can is very fragile and begs them not to damage it.

Naturally Momo and Okarun make their way through the school to reach it as they are chased by the can zombies. Okarun shouts that he can't transform into his Turbo Granny form possibly because of the Can's territory, forcing them to wreck it if they want to have a winning chance. After many hallways and stairs they finally arrive at the destination, completely exhausted. They approach to break it when suddenly the Mandrill alien begs not to destroy it. Okarun feels that something is wrong because the scientist would have attacked them if the Territory Can was something he desperately needed to protect, so he gets in Momo's way and asks her to stop. Her leg pushes him back into the object, and upon impact, he's immediately turned into a can spelling his name. Momo understands too late that it's a trap and she's surrounded by the can zombies, leaving her no choice but to escape, jumping from the top of the school building and using her power as a rope to crash inside a classroom right under the Territory Can. The Mandrill alien reaches her and places a can on the floor as he mocks the girl for trying to put an end to his genius operation and confirms that to stop the game of tag the Territory Can has to be destroyed, although touching it turns you into a can. Still, he praises Momo for realizing that and looks forward to dissect her unlike the many other barbaric primates. Despite this, Momo insults the scientist, calling him a stupid monkey and telling him that her IQ is a million times bigger than his. This enrages the alien who swings his bat and launches the can towards her at full speed, which she redirects with her ability to crash onto the pillar behind her. Momo's shocked by the speed of the projectile and just one of those managed to cut her finger from the pressure, as the genius scientist retaliates because she mocked his intelligence. He smacks the pavement with such strength that the generated force sends all the surrounding cans flying into the human.
Okarun finishing off the mandrill alien.
Momo desperately keeps up her psychokinetic shield throughout the barrage while the Mandrill keeps up the pace, shouting that also touching one of the flying cans will turn her into one and sooner or later she will give out. She screams that the task is no problem for her and the scientist is actually the one being worn out, although the alien notices her power is starting to weaken. Eventually the monkey stops his assault just so he can order Momo to apologize to him before finishing her off, who's currently on her knees and the corner of the room she's blocked in is barely resisting its collapse. The skin of her hands' is severely bruised and the alien is aware that she won't be able to deflect any more hits, but just before he can deal the final blow, the broken pillar crumbles down and the building starts falling apart, scaring the scientist. Momo reiterates that he's clearly the stupid one between the two since he blew away the support that prevented the Territory Can from dropping to the ground, wondering if the object can survive Earth's gravity. Just like she envisioned, the device breaks apart upon impact and returns everybody back to normal, including Okarun. In the meantime Momo crawls out of the collapsed hallway, admitting that she could barely hold on any further to the enemy's attack. All of a sudden, the Mandrill alien wrecks his way through the debris with his staff and leaps in front of the girl, shouting that he will atleast take her down with him before losing. Before he can lay one finger on her, Okarun has already transformed with his yokai powers and races to the hallway they are in, throwing himself at the scientist at a tremendous speed, blasting him through and away from the school building. With the primate defeated, the battle is over and Empty Space is closed.
Aftermath[]
Okarun greets Momo and begs forgiveness for barely being of any help to her, although she doesn't mind and is happy to see he's back to normal. The school reverts to its original state and all the students and athletes regain consciousness on the roof, wondering how they got there. Despite having won this brawl, Momo is still angry at Okarun for causing her to leave a hour later and orders him not to follow her outside of school. Okarun admits that it's entirely his fault but she doesn't change her mind, pushing him to pull out a Golgo 13 DVD from his backpack which she had desired ever since they visited the Nakano Broadway Mall. Momo is ecstatic but questions how he could have bought it since he doesn't have a job, leading him to reveal that he started working early in the morning as a paperboy to buy her a present and didn't want her to know until she received it. He again apologizes for making her come late to school and wonders if they can start walking to school together like they have always done. Momo covers her blushing face and accepts his apology, admitting that she's sorry too for getting so mad at him.
Notes[]
- Although this battle appears as a bonus in the Cursed House Arc, it might have played out between the Turbo Granny Arc and the Acrobatic Silky Arc because Aira is not brought into Empty Space. Momo however mentions her part-time job which she doesn't get until the Evil Eye Arc, so to avoid confusion the battle placement in the timeline is ignored.
