WARNING! |
Momo Ayase and Unji Zuma vs. Frog Shikigami and Death Pâtissier is a battle that took place in the giant candy obstacle course inside Danmara. Due to the Kintama accidentally slipping out of Unji's pocket, him and Momo traverse the candy environment to retrieve it before multiple frog shikigami get their hands on it. The danger escalates when the giant Death Pâtissier turns on to play a game of candy tag.
Prologue[]
The massive candy obstacle course.
Upon Unji defeating the Dark Knight, he introduces himself to Momo and informs her that to utilize their supernatural powers, they must possess the Kintama, which he was led to by a mysterious man. Momo points out that the world they are trapped in must be a board game and all they have to do is complete the stages and defeat the bosses. They team up and together they climb the National Border Hill, arriving at the massive candy obstacle course suspended high up in the air. When he sees what they have to traverse, Unji takes off his pants, embarassing Momo, although he was just worried about her skirt. She puts it on and they approach the edge so Unji can use his powers to float over it, however the boy is reminded that the family jewel is actually in the jeans she's wearing. Momo checks her pockets and they are shocked to discover it has fallen down in the obstacle course, emitting a strong glow. They panic and Unji carefully walks on a sugar cane, frustrating Momo because his geta sandals are just slowing him down. He removes them but once he looks up, he notices that a horde of frogs are staring them down and some are making their way towards the kintama. Momo leaps into the candy obstacle course too and they rush to get to the family jewel before the frogs can.
Battle[]
Momo, Unji and the frogs traversing the obstacle course.
Momo attempts to get closer by jumping on top of poles with cookie platforms, although they start bending because of her weight and she rapidly leaps from one to another. She reaches a brownie and barely holds herself up on its ledge, worrying Unji who tells her not to fall because he won't be able to rescue her. The boy throws himself off a platform and slides down a liquirice tree, kicking the frog shikigami standing at its base into the abyss. He then zooms on a chocolate suspension bridge to try and take down more of the frogs, leaving Momo in awe and she decides to enter the fight too. She grips onto a fluffy vertical pancake in the air yet the food is actually attached to a zipline, sending her flying over the obstacle course and she's violently thrown onto a macaron. Momo almost slips over and as she tries to get up, she's struck in the face by a frog, viciously headbutting her while demanding her to fall. Momo covers her head with her arm and retaliates by delivering a kick to the monster's ankle, making him stumble back in pain. She praises his effort but proclaims herself as the tougher being, flinging the frog off the edge. Momo checks over Unji and she's astonished to see him still taking down frogs, currently standing over a small sugar cane bridge and swinging a big spoon around to bump the enemies down. The shikigami are too armed with cutlery and treats, blocking his path with force. He shouts at the girl to retrieve the family jewel while he keeps the frogs busy and she listens, jumping from one candy to another.
The Death Pâtissier delivering the first giant blow.
All of a sudden a robotic voice is heard in the background, claiming that it's time for everybody to eat some sweets and proposes to have chocolate. While Unji tries to overwhelm a frog wielding a fork, the gigantic Death Pâtissier runs over and wrecks a huge portion of the obstacle course with his rolling pin, catapulting Unji and the frogs into the void. The chef then walks in front of Momo standing on a chocolate bridge but he suprisingly doesn't target her. She looks around and observes that the shikigami have all rushed to grab pieces of chocolate, furthering confusing her. The Death Pâtissier announces a second round and the creatures resume traversing the course once again, frustrating Momo who rushes over to check on Unji. The boy is buried under layers of sweets and before she can start digging him out of there, he strangely throws a lollipop towards her and shouts not let go. From a distance, the giant chef again smashes parts of the obstacle course, based on whoever hasn't listened to his instructions in this candy-based game of color tag. He informs his ally while holding a sweet, making sure that they are not targeted and reassures her that the cookies caught his fall. Momo wonders if the frogs aren't truly on the Death Pâtissier's side, which is confirmed by the countless frog origami on the floor who were eliminated by the boss. The chef shouts that he would like a florentine so the duo ventures through the candy structures, desperately looking for one alongside the frogs. Momo sees a piece of it sticking on a railing and throws herself onto it, wrecking the balcony from the impact. Unji calls out her moronic behavior and he narrowly holds the girl's legs while dangling off a candy bridge with his feet to stop them from falling.

He screams to push the florentine up and she does so, letting him touch it just in time before the Death Pâtissier demolishes the tower right next to theirs, filled with frogs who haven't found the chosen candy in time. With the threat evaded, Momo demands him to pull her up, although she shouts that she should drop the florentine first since it's not needed anymore. He struggles but ultimately pulls himself and her back on top, frustrated by her reckless action, yet she points out he didn't even know what a florentine was. They can't even catch their breath without the guardian immediately starting another round, requesting a donut. As they navigate, the frogs decide to get in their way, even stopping them in their path like a shikigami who Unji defeated by kicking off a bridge or bombarding them with big treats taken from their surroundings. The duo pulls through the barrage as they are running out of time and jump on a large donut right as the Death Pâtissier activates his whisk and minces the losers inside. However, along the humans four frogs held on to the donut, breaking out in a four versus two brawl to take control of the food. Momo fights two of them and screams to get lost when the enemy eerily responds back, stating that the Danmara won't let them leave and she's fated to die inside. She ignores him and plants her knee into his jaw, making one drop down but it catches her foot. The other frog charges at her and tries to make all of them fall into the void, prompting Unji to rush over and pound the shikigami by using his geta sandal as a knuckle. Momo is freed and apologizes for calling his sandals lame, though they are running out of candy because of the Death Pâtissier and start searching for the kintama.
Unji retrieving the Kintama.
Unji spots it above a macaron in a section below them a little distant from them, so they argue whether or not they should go after it. Unji explains that they should wait for the next round of candy tag because messing up even once would sign their fate, although Momo reasons that the frogs will get it first if they don't hurry. The two stare at each other and take a gamble, dropping from the donut and traversing what remains of the candy obstacle course. Sadly the Death Pâtissier chooses a cake instead of a macaron, meaning that they now have to change plans and delay their chase. Unji displays courage and continues running after the ball, ordering Momo to get to safety. Suddenly, two shikigami hurl two big treats his way when Momo sacrifices herself and drops behind him, taking the hit instead. She plummets onto a caramel roll and manages to stop her fall and screams at Unji to keep going. The boy races against one frog and although the enemy arrives first, Unji dives onto him and launches him out of the way, obtaining the family jewel. As the time drops to zero, the giant chef charges up his rolling pin to crush Unji, prompting him to activate his spiritual power. He's shocked upon discovering that he can't manifest the umbrellas entirely because he had recently used both of them to obliterate the Dark Knight. He warns Momo and starts running just as the Death Pâtissier demolishes the platforms he stands on, catapulting him downwards. He manages to grip onto a sugar cane extending from a tower, although because it's not cake he's still going to be targeted.

Momo drops down and shouts to pass her the kintama, which he does and reverts to his human form. Momo catches it in the air and envelops herself with her psychokinesis, preventing the falling sweets from hitting her. She then extends the psychic limb towards Unji and launching him onto a piece of cake as she simultaneously grabs onto a candy pole to face the guardian. The Death Pâtissier unleashes a last frenetic rush of destruction, killing many frogs and completely breaking down the candy obstacle course by using both his giant rolling pin and whisk. Unji screams to look out and Momo slips past the chef's devastating attack with the rolling pin, wrapping around it with her psychokinesis and soaring upwards until he has finished wrecking the losers of the candy tag. The Death Pâtissier concludes his task and thanks all the players for participating, but before he can shut off, he notices the psychic limb glued to his rolling pin. He looks upwards and observes Momo making a love sign, mocking the guardian as she blasts off his face with a devastating Moe Moe Tri-Beam point-blank. The giant crumbles down into a million different treats and everything collapses, filling the terrain at the bottom with candy, putting an end to the fight.
Aftermath[]
The ability of Death Patissier's card.
Momo finds herself stuck inside a pile of sweets, although she doesn't think of it as something displeasing. Still, Unji walks over and drags her out, receiving her thanks. The boy however explains that he should be the one saying that because he saved her life and he hands her the kintama, since his spiritual powers are still regenerating and she's overall way stronger than him. Momo was okay with letting him borrow it until he destroyed the world but she appreciates his last comment and takes the ball. All of a sudden, two notifications pop up, revealing that they have been rewarded with the Nom Nom Bongo card for eliminating the Death Pâtissier. It states that the treats they eat will give them powers so Unji experiments by tasting a donut, transforming his legs into a pile of them which constantly bounce him around. Momo also tries by licking a lollipop and her entire body turns sticky, which is more of a hassle than an aid. She extracts the card she was given when she first entered Danmara and realizes that two of the icons have been filled with the two bosses they had defeated, meaning that two more are needed to complete the game. She also discovers the Dark Knight's card which spawns a sword and a shield while nullifying the Nom Nom Bongo's abilities. They resume their journey through Danmara and experiment with the cards, though they fail to notice the small warning on the corner of the Nom Nom Bongo card, stating that whoever eats stuff from said world will become its citizen, a curse that will come back to bite them.
Notes[]
Chapter 140 covers a slightly different and elaborated ending compared to the previous chapter. When Unji grabs the Kintama, the Death Patissier immediately throws a barrage of hits that target both him, Momo and the frogs. While in the following chapter, Unji has time to activate his spiritual power and fail, fall down and grab onto a sugar cane, and finally throw Momo the kintama, explaining why she was able to release her Moe Moe Tri-Beam.
