WARNING! |
Momo Ayase and Unji Zuma vs. Medusa is a battle that took place on a massive tower inside the Danmara (Dimension). Momo and Unji take on the fearsome guardian deity Medusa, escaping her wrath by climbing a spiraling tower. With time running out, they'll have to get creative with the cards they had obtained from the Dark Knight and the Death Pâtissier to damage her body fully made of stone.
Prologue[]
When the duo successfully blasted the Death Pâtissier away, two notifications popped up in front of them as they were celebrating. They revealed that they had obtained the Nom Nom Bongo card as a reward, which would lend them the powers of any sweets they ate. Unji decided to test it and took a bite out of a donut and they realized that his legs had been replaced by a stack of donuts. He was terrified although it appeared that the donuts made him jump way higher, prompting Momo to eat a lollipop and check its powers. She was disappointed when her skin turned sticky and got in her way while Unji couldn't even stand back up because the donuts sent him flying every time he put weight onto them.
The ability of the Death Pâtissier's card.
Momo searched for a solution and pulled out her card, noticing that the seals displayed now featured the pictures of the Dark Knight and the Death Pâtissier, which appeared as their respective cards. She touched the Carmine card, spawning a sword and a shield in her hands while simultaneously undoing the effect of the candy she bit. Unji also used it to return normal and Momo pointed out that because there are two more spots to fill out, it must mean there are two remaining bosses to defeat and win the game. Since Momo had unleashed her Moe Moe Tri-Beam which deactivated her ability for a while and because only one of them could hold the Kintama, they continue their journey, eager to experiment with these cards with lots of sweets that they collect along the way. They later discover that by eating marshmallows, all fall damage is negated. Eventually they bumped into Medusa, who charged at them on sight.
Battle[]
The massive tower Momo and Unji climb to escape from Medusa.
Because neither of their spiritual powers had recovered, initially the two evade the monster's attacks and swing the swords spawned from the Carmine card at it, quickly discovering that Medusa's body is made of impenetrable stone. Since the guardian is way too fast for them to run away from, they spot a giant spiraling tower nearby and resort to climb it by jumping from floor to floor with the donut powers. They panic as they keep rising without a clear plan in mind and they see the top of the tower, meaning that they soon would have nowhere to go. Unji suggests to jump down with the marshmallows' powers they still have and escape by foot, but Momo's gut has her first drop a sweet outside the tower. Just like she feared, Medusa boosts upwards and eats the flying candy in an instant, meaning that they would share the same fate if they tried to run away. Nevertheless, she notices that Medusa's color has changed, indicating that the Nom Nom Bongo card also affects the creatures of Danmara.
Momo and Unji finishing off Medusa.
Momo decides to first try a bag of spicy chips she had in her bag which they hadn't experimented with yet. Unji remarks that she brought it from the outside world, although she reasons that it's the card influence that gives them powers, not the sweets having abilities themselves. Her breath surprisingly releases a gust of fire, so along with Unji, the duo engulfs Medusa in flames. Shockingly the guardian still advances upwards and forces them to resume their climb, switching out the spicy chips with donuts to gain altitude. With the peak now in sight, Unji desperately shouts that they are doomed when Momo suddenly throws a second candy and Medusa again swallows it. Just like she envisioned, the monster's stone body has now turned into candy. She hands Unji the spicy chips and they bombard the guardian with fire once more. This time the plan is a success and Medusa begins melting, prompting her to descend the tower to save herself. However, Medusa is now very sticky and she struggles to retreat rapidly. Noticing this, Momo equips the Carmine Card and they drop down onto the monster, slashing it in half while Unji keeps melting her with fire, ending the battle.
Aftermath[]
The ability of Medusa's card.
They supposedly eat the marshmallows while in the air to turn their bodies into cushions, surviving the fall. The game then notifies them that they have obtained the Rock-hard Costinus card from Medusa, which will turn their bodies into stone and prevent them from moving. Momo and Unji venture further and soon reach Ice Town, filled with frog shikigami identical to the ones they brawled with in the candy obstacle course. With their powers still inactive, Momo pulls out the new card and they activate it to face a frog in case they get stabbed. They turn into stone and stop moving, however the enemy frog doesn't approach them and they stare dumbfounded. They are irritated that the card they achieved from defeating Medusa is useless despite the effort they had to put in and they opt to use the Carmine card, walking towards the frog with shields and swords in hand. They soon discover that the shikigami continuosly repeats set lines and actually means no harm, similarly to videogames' non playable characters. Knowing this, they walk through the town, still wary of possible enemy ambushes.
