Mongolian Death Worms (モンゴリアンデスワーム Mongorian Desu Wāmu?) are cryptic subterranean organisms originating from the arid landscapes of Gobi Desert, Mongolia.

Physical Characteristics[]

The Mongolian Death Worms are characterized by their patterned serpent-like bodies and a gaping mouth encircled by tentacles, featuring several rows of teeth. These creatures are enormous, with Okarun asserting that the typical Mongolian Death Worm measures approximately 1.5 to 2 meters in length. The Mongolian Death Worm that was cared for by the Kito Family for 200 years was noted to have exceeded this average size.

Biology[]

As underground dwellers, Mongolian Death Worms coexist in symbiosis with bacteria and germs. Their high metabolic reliance on bacteria-infused environments makes them extremely vulnerable to ultraviolet radiation; even a short exposure to direct sunlight results in rapid dehydration, ultimately causing desiccation. This consequence seems to only incapacitate the worms rather than cause death, as Naki had intentionally dried out a Mongolian Death Worm to smuggle it onto the plane Momo was on and later bring them back to life by dousing with water, which happened rather instantaneously.

Mongolian Death Worms are carnivorous creatures. Their growth rate is directly proportional to caloric intake, enabling rapid expansion in mass when feeding abundantly. As stated by Naki Kito, humans serve as the Mongolian Death Worm's primary sustenance in order develop their natural abilities, as the hatchling of the Mongolian Death Worm in Byakuja Village nurtured by Naki lacked the powers that its parent possessed due to it being fed livestock rather than human sacrifices.

Overall Strength[]

Suicidal Psychic Waves [v · e]

Mongolian Death Worms possess the psychic power emit powerful waves of coercion that drive individuals to self-destruction. While this sinister force proves highly effective against ordinary humans and even Power Users, it falters against yokai and those with immense spiritual power, rendering them immune to its deadly influence.

Regeneration
Mongolian Death Worms are capable of fully recovering from almost any lethal injury, as evidenced by the Tsuchinoko, which regenerated its head after being decapitated by a full body launch attack from Okarun and endured multiple piercings from the Evil Eye's grudge ball attack. However, due to the biological characteristics of worms, the Mongolian Death Worm cannot withstand exposure to sunlight and will perish as a consequence of desiccation.

Electrokinesis
Mongolian Death Worms possess the unique ability to discharge immense amounts of electricity from the tips of their tentacle-like mouths. This powerful surge spreads across a wide radius, allowing them to strike multiple targets simultaneously, incapacitating any nearby prey with a devastating electrical assault.

Phlegm
Mongolian Death Worms have the ability to expel an adhesive substance capable of immobilizing their prey. Once ensnared, victims are rendered helpless, granting the Mongolian Death Worm the perfect opportunity to devour them whole. The mucus is also an effective coolant, as Momo used the substance from the corpse of the Tsuchinoko to douse the molten magma flowing from the Byakuja Village volcano, preventing further devastation.

Venom
Mongolian Death Worms are able to generate spores infused with a toxic venom capable of gradually weakening their enemies. Upon release, these airborne spores spread through the environment, making it difficult for their targets to evade exposure.

History[]

Byakuja Village[]

For over 200 years, a Mongolian Death Worm came to dwell within the volcano of Byakuja Village, its presence deeply ingrained in the lives of the local villagers. Mistaken for the legendary Tsuchinoko cryptid, the worm was revered and feared, as its hunger was believed to be the catalyst for the village volcano's eruptions, threatening their home with destruction. To safeguard their village from the dangers of magma, and ensure the creature's continued growth and survival, the Kito Family upheld a tradition of sacrificing children from their own community as an offering to the Mongolian Death Worm.

In the modern era, the Tsuchinoko and the Kito Family's reign of terror came to an end when their latest sacrifice, Momo Ayase, forced the Mongolian Death Worm onto the surface, exposing it to sunlight that led to its fatal desiccation. However, the creature's demise triggered the Byakuja Village volcano's eruption, threatening the village with destruction. The Tsuchinoko's remains was then used to prevent this by Momo and Chiquitita, utilizing its phlegm's cooling properties to quell the magma, ensuring the village's safety.

At some point, Naki Kito discovered eggs produced by the Tsuchinoko and took the liberty of hatching one of them and feeding it livestock to have it grow in size, though this prevented it from developing its unique abilities.

Flight to Shimane[]

The Tsuchinoko Hatchling nurtured by Naki eventually grew to an ideal large size and was dried out for transport by its owner, awaiting the perfect moment for revitalization for when Naki locates Momo and takes her revenge on her for killing the Tsuchinoko and banishing the Kito Family from Byakuja Village. Tracking Momo to the airport, where she was set to board a flight to Shimane, Naki secretly secured the Mongolian Death Worm in the cargo hold, ensuring it would accompany her unnoticed. Once airborne, the Mongolian Death Worm was unleashed by Naki, tasked with neutralizing the Typhoon Human in Empty Space. Following Seiko's tactical plan, she commanded the Mongolian Death Worm to devour the frozen airborne sharks drawn to the typhoon and then spit them directly into the storm, aiming to cool the water vapor sustaining the Typhoon Human.

Following the Typhoon Human's retaliation by blasting its lower half with sharks by using its nose, Momo utilized her powers on the Mongolian Death Worm to act as a carp windsock, allowing it to stay afloat in the air as they rode it. In the sky, attacking the cryptid directly didn't work as it could easily regenerate and they were almost blown away by a massive lightning attack. They then dove towards the eye, making it spit frozen sharks to avoid the electricity from propagating further. After managing to defeat the Typhoon Human, the Tsuchinoko Hatchling and the Kito Family were swallowed by a megalodon and launched out of orbit when the Evil Eye took control, kicking the shark because he wanted to kill them.

On the moon, the Tsuchinoko Hatchling followed the Kitos around the surface while they swore revenge on Momo Ayase once more.
