This is the article on the cryptid. For the bat wielded by Seiko, head to Nessie.

Nessie (ネッシー Nesshī?), or Kamissie (カミッシー Kamisshī?) by Okarun since the creature had previously arrived in Kamigoe City, was a cryptid and a disgruntled subordinate of the Serpos.

In Dandadan, it serves as a supporting antagonist during the Serpo Arc.

Appearance[]

Nessie was a large, roughly 3.5 metre long aquatic reptilian creature resembling a plesiosaur, with a long neck, stout body, long tail and 4 powerful flippers used for swimming. Its reptilian head had numerous ridges and bumps, and it eyes were small and white, with black, piercing pupils. Inside its jaw, it had numerous, jagged teeth and a tongue that was somewhat forked at the tip. The mouth could open rather wide in order to shoot its devastating attack. Its body was patterned and had numerous lines and stripes with a ridge running along its back. Alongside the flanks of the creature, 2 pairs of extremely long gills ran the entire length of its body from directly behind its head all the way to the tail.

Personality[]

Nessie was animalistic and aggressive, as it attacked anything it came across or sense was nearby. Despite being a subordinate of the Serpos, Nessie did not have the intelligence to follow orders, let alone understand them, and were included in Nessie's rampage.

Background[]

Ever since 700 AD, the creature had been sighted on multiple accounts but made itself truly known in 1934 at Loch Ness, Scotland after an obstetrician from London captured a photo of it. The creature then went on to become famously known as the Loch Ness Monster (ネス湖の怪獣 Nesu-ko no Kaijū?). While the picture that would then become known as the "surgeon's photograph" exposed the creature's existence, many had doubted its authenticity and believed that it was a hoax.[1] Afterwards, numerous theories have been put down to try to identify what Nessie could actually be, with theories that it could be a massive eel.

Kintama Hunt Saga[]

Serpo Arc[]

Setting their sights on Okarun for his Turbo Granny powers, the aliens brought along Nessie and the hired Dover Demon to capture him at his school. While roaming the halls alone, Nessie becomes spotted by Momo who immediately tries hiding from it. However, after accidently making a sound, Nessie closes in and fires a high-compression water blast that destroys a classroom. It then made its leave but became unaware that the blast missed Momo.

Later, after the Serpos confronts Okarun, Aira, and Momo, Nessie makes its arrival and interrupts the fight by flooding the area and attacking the Serpos. Seeing as how Nessie was uncontrollable, a surviving Serpo makes the decision to merge himself with both Nessie and the Dover Demon to create the Serpo Dover Demon Nessie as a last resort to eliminate Okarun, Aira, and Momo. However, the alien's plan fails after Okarun destroys the creature's body, resulting in Nessie being killed in the process.

Abilities and Powers[]

Flood Creation [v · e]
Nessie had the ability to summon a flood wherever it was present.
Strengths and Weaknesses

Being an aquatic creature, the flood summoned by Nessie served as a conduit for its swimming migration from one location to another. Nessie could also control the flood's water level. By elevating it from a minor to a major flood, Nessie could transform its entire environment into an aquatic domain, thus gaining a home field advantage over its prey who face the risk of drowning.

Usage

Nessie utilized its flood to move around and use its high-compression water blasts.

High-Compression Water Blast
By absorbing water through its gills, Nessie could fire a devastating high-compression water blast from its mouth.
Strengths and Weaknesses

Nessie's beams of concentrated water were powerful enough to destroy anything in their trajectory, with a single shot capable of killing a living being, as evidenced when a Serpo was bifurcate.

Though the beams were powerful, Nessie was unable to shoot them continuously and needed to recharge every so often by absorbing water through its gills.

Trivia[]

  • Like the Serpos and Mr. Mantis Shrimp, Nessie is themed after works associated with tokusatsu.
    • Nessie has a striking resemblance to Shin Godzilla (specifically the kaiju’s fourth evolution) from the film of the same name. Furthermore, it's water compression blasts gives reference to Shin Godzilla's atomic breath.
    • In alignment with Dandadan's references to the Ultra series, Nessie also alludes to Zaurs from Fight! Mighty Jack! and Jirahs from Ultraman, kaiju (with the latter being a redesigned godzilla suit) who were given the title "Loch Ness Monster".
  • It is quite possible that Nessie is simply a giant eel as in recent years DNA researchers discovered traces of eel DNA in Loch Ness.[2]
