Personality[]
He's a kindhearted boy who got taken advantage of back when he was younger. He's very devoted to Unji since he rescued him from his aggressors and he's loyal to him. He's also very thankful to him because he accepted him as who he is despite the world pushing them to the side. He's willing to help out Unji in any way, although he doesn't back down from incorporating violence to his missions. He's very thoughtful and passionate, leading him to become the right hand man of Unji and he commands the gang when he isn't around. He's still traumatized from his youth and the times he got hurt, as seen when Fairy-Tale Card's words led him to getting brainwashed.
Background[]
Raiya being bullied.
Raiya endured bullying until he was rescued by gang leader Unji Zuma. Grateful for saving him and impressed by Unji's commitment to helping troubled teenagers, Raiya chose to join his gang and swore his loyalty, eventually leading to him being acknowledged by the leader as his most trusted ally.[1] At one point, Unji tasked Raiya with looking after a female gang member they had caught attempting to take dangerous drugs.[2]
When Unji came into possession of a cursed diorama that trapped one of his gang members inside its inner world, Raiya volunteered to be the next one sent in to help free her, as the last captive, Daiki Hakono, was able to break free from the diorama after coming across the gang member. However, Unji refused Raiya entry, as he intended to conquer the inner world himself using a golden ball he received from a mysterious man as a tool to help access his powers. Worried for Unji's well-being after a week had passed since his entry, Raiya and the others tried to force Daiki back into the inner world to switch places with Unji, much to Daiki's reluctance due to the trauma of surviving its dangers.[3]

Kintama Hunt Saga[]
Danmara Arc[]
Raiya and his gang coming across Momo and Okarun in their pursuit of Daiki.
Raiya and his fellow gang members pursue Daiki as he attempts to evade being returned to the diorama. Their chase leads them to encountering Momo and Okarun. Raiya rushes forward to swing his pipe at Daiki but is blocked by Momo using her powers. The group is then taken aback when they witness Okarun transform to protect Momo, a form reminiscent of Unji's abilities. Upon hearing Unji's name and recognizing their spiritual awareness, Momo asks if they are familiar with Unji. Raiya declines to respond, insisting that she surrender Daiki. Momo, however, insists on keeping the old man until her question is addressed, which results in Raiya threatening her. Nevertheless, adhering to his principle of not harming women, Raiya agrees to lead them to their base where Unji is located, but insists that Daiki must accompany them as well.[4]
At their hideout, Raiya presents to Momo and Okarun the diorama, informing them of Unji's choice to venture into it and believe that the only way they can free him is by sending Daiki back inside.[5] Things take an unexpected turn when Daiki accidentally causes Momo to touch the diorama, sending her to the inner world after he panics over the group's determination to have him switch places with Unji.[6] As the gang prepares to send Daiki next, they are thwarted by Okarun, who notices a Momo figurine moving on the board. Raiya explains that this figurine indicates someone has entered the inner world, as they observed with Unji's figurine after he was sent. After learning of this, Okarun figures out that the diorama works like a board game that is meant to be finish by those trapped.[7][8] Raiya decides that the best plan for his gang is to have everyone enter the board game to assist Unji and Momo in completing it and rejects Okarun's suggestion to wait until he calls a spirit medium to help handle the cursed object.[9]
Raiya being controlled by the Fairy-Tale Card to attack Unji.
Upon reaching the final stage of the diorama, alongside Okarun, Turbo Granny, and the Renjaku High students who were briefed on Unji's circumstances and were eager to challenge him, Raiya and the others helped Momo and Unji in overcoming the army of the stage.[10] Following everyone's celebration after the stage's completion, they witness the Fairy-Tale Card being freed from his imprisonment, prompting Turbo Granny to instruct everyone to close their eyes to avoid being placed on the yokai's control. As the Fairy-Tale Card begins to question the delinquents' desire to return to the real world, reminding them of their treatment as outcasts, Raiya recalls his painful past and succumbs to the Fairy-Tale Card's influence. He then becomes forced to attack Unji, ultimately causing Unji to fall under the Fairy-Tale Card's control as well.[11] Raiya and are the others are then sent flying back following the Fairy-Tale Card unleashing Unji's full Umbrella Boy power to wreak havoc.[12]
Raiya and the others freed from the cursed trunk by Rin.
After the Fairy-Tale Card possesses Unji to escape the inner world, Raiya briefly speaks with officer Masamichi Vega before realizing, along with the others, that the inner world is beginning to collapse. Concurrently, they are lifted into the air by Rin using Mai's Onbusuman's gravity powers in order to free all the captives from the cursed trunk.[13] Their ascent brings them face-to-face with the Fairy-Tale Card, with Raiya calling out to the controlled Unji. Once liberated, Raiya checks on Unji's condition after the Fairy-Tale Card releases him and becomes concerned upon noticing that Unji is not breathing.[14] He later helps an injured Daiki to stand and witnesses the effects of the Fairy-Tale Card's body being destroyed after his defeat by Count Saint-Germain, Okarun, Rokuro Serpo, and Unji.[15]
After the events involving the cursed trunk and the Fairy-Tale Card, Raiya and his gang, along with Daiki, visit Unji at the hospital.[16]

Kozuka Knives Arc[]
Raiya, Unji and Daiki accompanying Momo and her friends to her house.
After Unji is discharged from the hospital, Raiya and his Renjaku High classmates accompany Unji to Kami High to visit Momo, his gang leader hoping she can find a way to break the curses on him and Daiki following their time in Danmara. There, Raiya helps the now older Daiki to stand as Unji explains the situation to Momo, Okarun, and Bamora.[17] Momo then invites the group to walk with her and her friends to her house for further discussions about the curse, and upon arrival, they find Seiko making travel arrangements for herself, Momo, and Bamora to fly to Shimane to lift Momo's curse. While confused by Momo referring to the youthful woman as her grandmother, the three are invited by Seiko to come along with them on the trip after she is informed of Unji and Daiki's curse.[18]
Typhoon Human Arc[]
At the airport, just as Momo's curse leads to Bamora forgetting her, Raiya informs the group that Unji has lost his sight, while Daiki is unable to walk, which compels him to carry him on his back. As he tries to comfort Daiki while carrying him, Raiya is questioned by Daiki why he is helping him, recalling their first encounter when Raiya was hostile. Raiya admits he wrongly thought Daiki was causing trouble for Unji over the cursed trunk and asks Daiki not to hold it against him. When Daiki asks why Raiya is so devoted to Unji, Raiya shares his past, explaining how Unji saved him and other kids like him, earning their loyalty through his kindness.[19]
Raiya overpowered in his confrontation with Juichi.
During their flight to Shimane, Raiya finds amusement in Unji being forced to switch seats with Bamora after he irritates Jiji. Soon after, the group is attacked by the Kito Family who seek revenge on Momo and Jiji after the events in Byakuja Village. As Bamora prepares to join Momo, Seiko, and Jiji in the fight, Raiya suggests she stay back while he handles confronting the men. However, Bamora refuses and surprises both Raiya and Unji after activating her kaiju suit.[20] Following Bamora activating Empty Space, Raiya faces against Juichi and is quickly overpowered, prompting the man to mock him for not putting up much of a fight. When Juichi shifts to harming the blind Unji, Raiya attempts to stop him but is thwarted by Juhiko. To Raiya's shock, Unji manages to land hits on both Juichi and Juhiko by relying on his sense of touch. The moment then becomes awkward for Raiya as he watches Unji, in trying to locate the attackers after they had fallen, becoming startled accidentally touching Bamora's kaiju suit.[21] The clash between the two groups is then interrupted by the arrival of the Typhoon Human damaging the plane. When an airborne shark crashes through the plane, resulting in a change in air pressure, Raiya holds onto Daiki to prevent the both of them from being sucked out and secures oxygen masks as per Seiko's instructions. The two then strap themselves to their seats along with the others after Bamora plugs the hole with her suit.[22]
Raiya, Seiko, and Daiki attempting to rescue Momo, the Evil Eye, and Unji.
After witnessing Momo, Jiji, Unji, and the Kito Family pulling off the impressive feat of defeating the Typhoon Human, Raiya is requested by Daiki to take him to the cockpit to pilot the plane and save Unji, disclosing that he knows how to pilot from his father. Daiki apologizes to Raiya, admitting he feels unworthy of his help due to his past bullying of a classmate named Toru, but decides to make amends by apologizing to Toru and to assist Raiya and Unji as a way to repay them for their exemplary behavior. After agreeing to take him to the cockpit, Raiya enters checking in on Seiko and informs her of Daiki's ability to fly the plane, prompting her to scold them for not informing her earlier.[23] After rescuing Momo, Jiji, and Unji, the group lands safely at the next airport in Shimane. Raiya praises Daiki for his excellent piloting and helps him back to his seat just as time nearly runs out on Bamora's Empty Space.[24]
Shimane Arc[]
Upon their arrival at Izumo Taisha, the group is warned by a priest that the Uchide-no-Kozuchi Seiko needed to lift Momo's curse has been stolen by a phantom ninja thief. In a hurry upon receiving this news, Seiko takes a cab with Momo, the Evil Eye, Bamora, and the priest while having Raiya, Unji, and Daiki stay behind at the shrine until they return.[25]
