Story Arcs

Dandadan is broken up into several story arcs. The following are the arc names, a description of the arc's plot and the chapters they comprise. These arcs have been separated in sagas, depending on the grand objective of the main characters.

Notes: Arc names are unofficial and subject to change at any time. The prevailing naming convention tends to draw from one of three elements: the arc's central antagonist, the primary location where events unfold, or a recurring thematic motif. A key indicator used to determine arc conclusions is the presence of a reunion scene, typically depicted as a dinner gathering presented in a double-page spread, and/or a conclusion of a specific problem.

Turbo Granny Arc

Turbo Granny Arc
After recently meeting an occult fanatic at her school who she nicknames Okarun, Momo Ayase challenges the boy to prove who's right about the paranormal. With Momo's new powers awakened during a battle with aliens from the planet Serpo, she and her grandma, a spirit medium, try to free Okarun from a curse placed on him by the Turbo Granny, an evil spirit who resides in a tunnel.

Acrobatic Silky Arc
Although they had managed to defeat the Turbo Granny, resulting in Okarun's genitals returning back to him, Momo and Okarun are now presented with another problem of having to search for the latter's missing kintama, which one is currently in possession by a girl at their school named Aira Shiratori. Before they can retrieve the kintama back from her, Momo and Okarun must defeat a yokai named Acrobatic Silky who is after Aira.

Serpo Arc

Serpo Arc
Momo's friendship with Okarun runs the risk of ending after she catches him secretly meeting with Aira at school. Okarun hopes to explain himself to Momo when the time comes for them to meet again. However, his chance is put on pause after the Serpo, this time accompanied by the cryptid Nessie and a Dover Demon, return to acquire his Turbo Granny powers. Despite losing her trust in him, Momo helps Okarun and fights alongside Aira who awakens a new power.

Cursed House Arc
Momo and Okarun help Jiji, Momo's childhood friend, to get rid of an evil spirit that is haunting his house. However, they soon discover that there is more to this mission than a simple exorcism after Jiji's landlords get involved.

With Jiji not want to exorcise the Evil Eye sealed within him, Momo, Okarun, Seiko, Aira, and Manjiro must stay with him at all times until the situation is under control. After Momo's life was almost in danger by the yokai, Okarun decides to get stronger to settle matters by seeking help from Turbo Granny.

When Momo and Okarun track down a mysterious golden sphere to an apartment, they suspect it may be the second missing kintama and attempt to retrieve it. However, the object reveals itself to be mobile, evasive, and refuses to be caught by them. Their pursuit quickly spirals into chaos as a towering kaiju suddenly appears to attack them. Now joined by Aira, Jiji, and their schoolmate Kinta Sakata, the group must find a way to fend off the monstrous threat.

Space Globalists Arc
Momo, Okarun, and their allies must stop a group of alien globalists from summoning their main force to invade the Earth. At the same time, Momo must avoid Reiko Kashima, the strongest yokai, who's constantly looking for her at night since she trespassed her territory. With the aliens claiming to also be in league with their new companion Bamora, the question begs for them on whether she is friend or foe.

Following the meeting of the mysterious teacher Sanjome, Okarun is approached by the Class Rep Rin Sawaki who previously found his missing kintama and had it handed over to the police as lost property. Before he could focus on retrieving it back, Okarun, Momo, and Seiko help Rin to get rid of a yokai that has been haunting her called an Onbusuman.

The second kintama is revealed to be in the possession of a young man named Unji Zuma who needs its power to conquer a cursed diorama called Danmara. After accidentally being sent inside the diorama, Momo works together with Unji to beat the game while Okarun begs the Turbo Granny, Rin and her guardian spirit Mai to rescue the duo. When all hell breaks loose, Unji must come to terms with his past.

With Momo's, Unji's and Daiki's curses worsening over time, their resources are stretched thin by the Orchestrator who relentlessly sends subordinates with power-stealing knives after them.
