- This is the article on the member of the Kur. For the exosuit, head to Takonoka Ru Patcho.
Takonoka Ru Patcho (タコノカ・ル・パッチョ) was a Kur and a member of his race's Advance Unit.
In Dandadan, he serves as a major antagonist during the Space Globalists Arc.
Appearance[]
Takonoka Ru Patcho's full appearance.
As a Kur, Takonoka Ru Patcho resembles an octopus with striped tentacles for a mouth. He is also of considerable size for his race, who are all shown to be small.
Personality[]
Like many of his kind, Takonoka Ru Patcho harbored deep disdain for alien lifeforms beyond his homeworld, having expressed his disgust towards Aira during her desperate attempts to defeat him. In battle, he placed unwavering faith in the power of his exosuit, a confidence that often bordered on arrogance, as he believed himself invincible against any tactic his enemies might employ. However, when confronted by a tenacious adversary, his composure sometimes faltered, giving way to frustration. He was also one to learn from his mistakes. After carelessly allowing Aira to escape following their first encounter, he was cautious not to let her slip away the second time he defeated her by delivering electric shocks to ensure she stayed down for good.
He had a strange habit of ending his sentences with "ne" (ネ), roughly translated as "hm" in VIZ.
Background[]
Takonoka Ru Patcho took part in his race's invasion of Sumer, notably during the ambush of the all-female resistance. Later, he was among the few Kur assigned to guard the hundreds of Sumerian men gathered for sacrifice to a Big Mama.[1] After Bamora, Banga, Tome, and Aja trespassed in an attempt to free the men and reach the warped gate pyramid, Takonoka Ru Patcho fired missiles from his exosuit at Bamora, which ended up hitting Banga after the woman pushed the girl out of harm's way.[2] Shortly after, Takonoka Ru Patcho and the other Kur fought defensively against the Sumerian men, who revolted when Banga, wielding a Sumerian god exosuit, incited them to rise up.[3]

Kintama Hunt Saga[]
Kaiju Arc[]
Following Bamora's escape to Earth using the Sumerian pyramid, the Kur Advance Unit transported themselves to the same planet to track her down. There, they raided the Serpo at their base, acquiring their devices, data, and information about the Family's special powers that could accelerate the main fleet's warping process if seized. During this, the team received a signal from Bamora's exosuit accidently set off by Jiji, revealing their location.[4]
Space Globalists Arc[]
Takonoka Ru Patcho, Ta Komeshi, and Suda Ko defeat Aira and the Evil Eye.
Later, the Advance Unit confronts the Family, with Takonoka Ru Patcho, Ta Komeshi, and Suda Ko targeting Aira and Jiji as they walk home from school.[5] Using his exosuit's electrical shield, Takonoka Ru Patcho blocks Aira's kicks in her Acrobatic Silky form and defeats her by inflicting heavy damage with his missiles.[6][7] After taking down both Aira and the Evil Eye, he exits his suit, noting their swift victory in under three minutes and suggests to his allies that they relocate to avoid further danger, observing that lasers are ineffective when exposed to Earth's moisture-rich environment and speculates that the planet's heavy gravity contributes to the physical strength of its inhabitants. He then notices Aira's Acrobatic Silky hair forming a protective dome around her and the Evil Eye. When Suda Ko fires his rifle through the dome, they discover that Aira and the Evil Eye have escaped. Assuming they haven't gone far, Takonoka Ru Patcho reenters his suit and activates life-sign detection, but struggles with the scanner picking up multiple glowing orbs. He then orders his allies to fire on Empty Space Kamigoe City to flush them out. However, after receiving a signal and running out of time, the Kur withdraw from the city, resulting in Empty Space being canceled out and Aira and Jiji managing to avoid being captured.[8]
The Kur clashing against the Family during the invasion.
After obtaining Okarun's kintama to energize their warp gate and summon their main force, Takonoka Ru Patcho, Ta Komeshi, Ta Kowasa, Suda Ko, and the mantis exosuit Kur stand guard against any intruders in their Empty Space. When the Family arrives, Takonoka Ru Patcho and Suda Ko attack their vehicle to halt them.[9] The Kur engages in combat with Aira, Jiji, and Mr. Mantis Shrimp after they escape the wreckage unharmed, allowing Momo and Rokuro to advance toward deactivating the warp gate.[10] During the fight, Takonoka Ru Patcho fires missiles to destroy the cars Aira throws at the mantis exosuit Kur and launches another volley at Jiji as he watches his allies struggle. After Jiji withstands the assault and remains standing, Takonoka Ru Patcho fires a second round, only for his missiles to be destroyed by Jiji's newly invented Evil Gun.[11]
Seeing Ta Kowasa defeated by Jiji, Takonoka Ru Patcho, Ta Komeshi, and Suda Ko retaliate with their exosuit's attacks, clashing with Jiji's second Evil Gun shot. Realizing Jiji's hidden power, Takonoka Ru Patcho decides to eliminate him before he becomes a greater threat. Before getting the chance to execute this, his exosuit detects an oncoming truck being hurled behind him. After destroying it, he sees Aira emerging from the explosion to come in for a surprise attack. He then deploys his electrical shield before she could attack him and expresses confidence in his suit's perfect offense and defense capabilities. However, he is shocked when Aira bypasses the shield with her hair, with the girl explaining it has been dehydrated due to her neglect and Ta Komeshi's vibrational field. Though she lands her kick that sends him flying backward into a building, Takonoka Ru Patcho points out to Aira that her leg attacks are too weak to harm his exosuit's armor and fires missiles at her while she is distracted by Jiji struggling against Suda Ko and Ta Komeshi's blasts.[12]
Takonoka Ru Patcho defeated by Aira.
As Aira lies on the ground defeated, Takonoka Ru Patcho uses his electrical disks to electrocute her, determined not to let her escape like she did before. He also informs her that he and his team can now function for more than three minutes, thanks to the strong territory they have established around their base. Having gotten within close proximity of her, Takonoka Ru Patcho gives Aira an opening to restrain him and his electrical disks using her Acrobatic Silky hair, with the girl telling him he is the one who won't escape and reminds him that his electric attacks no longer affect her. Takonoka Ru Patcho counters with missiles but fails to break free as Aira uses her hair to shield herself. As he struggles, Aira delivers a kick, trying to penetrate his exosuit's armor with continuous attacks. Takonoka Ru Patcho mocks her, saying her efforts are futile, and keeps firing missiles while expressing his disgust towards her. Realizing her kicks are ineffective, Aira transforms her hair into a drill, inspired by Okarun's explanation of Spiral Power. Though confident his armor can withstand it, Takonoka Ru Patcho watches in disbelief as the drill pierces his suit. After Aira follows Jiji's advice to use the Power of Words by giving her technique a name, Takonoka Ru Patcho is ultimately defeated as her Pirouette Noble Drill pierces through both his exosuit and him.[13]
