Kintama Hunt Saga[]
Cursed House Arc[]
Upon arriving on the shrine's grounds, Momo looks in confusion at the priest Manjiro strangely does a headstand. He notices her presence and asks her if she's here to visit the Tsuchinoko shrine, apologizing as he was posing for a video he would upload in the hopes of becoming a bootuber. He tears the creaky door open and lets her in, surprising the girl who didn't expect him to show her something so important without paying and was ecstatic to return with Okarun later.
Once inside, she's immediately disappointed by the supposed shed skin of a tiny tsuchinoko, who points it out and Manjiro agrees too. From the documents contained in the shrine, he narrates that a "dragon flying through the skies will cast a rainbow and the wrath of the mountain will engulfe the village". He explains further that back in the day, they used to worship a great snake and believed that when it got hungry, the volcano would erupt. For that reason, children were sacrificed to the creature, which impeded an eruption for over two hundred years and led to the formation of the famous hot springs in the region. He then informs her that the people apparently pray to the shed skin of the great serpent to receive protection from the volcano, but when she asks about the Tsuchinoko, he admits that his father only gave the creature that name in order to attract more tourists, frustrating her. But Manjiro sees the bright side of it and the chance to teach the tourists that the legend is man's fault as a result of fear robbing the ability to think, resulting in people actually resorting to rituals such as sacrifices. He concludes by stating that he's a priest at the shrine for that reason, although he would prefer to do headstands on bootube. Momo simply suggests him to tell the legend on his channel instead, shocking him.
Evil Eye Arc[]
After Okarun managed to trick the Evil Eye and force him to make a promise, the spirit handed out his briefs, filled with grudges who did not want to go forward with the deal. The cursed object is collected and sealed by Manjiro and brought to the Tsuchinoko Shrine to put on display.
Current Saga[]
Kozuka Knives Arc[]
It is revealed that Queen had visited the shrine with a student and her mother to undergo an exorcism performed by Manjiro. This led to Manjiro and Queen getting closer, possibly in a romantic manner.
Volume 13 Omake[]
Taro and Hana visit the Tsuchinoko shrine, now filled to the brim with tourists. He greets Manjiro as he's doing a headstand, who recognizes his voice and asks him if they are on a honeymoon, Taro tells him to keep it a secret, since if Seiko ended up knowing about it, she would personally kill him. He shifts focus on the crowd of people and Manjiro informs him that they are all visiting to see the briefs of the Evil Eye up close, now sealed, and Taro acknowledges the fact that everybody loves underpants. The priest asks the anatomical model about the Evil Eye, but he admits that he has no interest in dudes. He asks him if Seiko knows anything, but Taro reveals that she's in hokkaido for work and it's why they managed to slip away and start a trip. Manjiro is worried but because the cursed house can only be summoned if the Evil Eye is in possession of the briefs, he convinces himself that the Evil Eye is in a weakened state and they have nothing to fear.
