During their flight to Shimane to lift the Danmara curse, Momo and Jiji find themselves confronted once again by their former enemies from Byakuja Village, the Kito Family. In another turn of events, a UMA known as the Typhoon Human appears to interfere with their plane's destination to Shimane, leaving both parties having no choice but to collaborate together to prevent the supernatural disaster from bringing them and their aircraft down.

Synopsis[]

Hijacking[]

Jiji asks Bamora if she can see Momo on her shoulder, but Bamora responds not knowing who Momo is. This prompts Momo to desperately try to get her attention. Concerned, Jiji informs Seiko that Momo's curse is worsening, but Seiko appears confused, touching her head as she struggles to remember Momo and their plan to restore her original size in Shimane. Meanwhile, Raiya informs everyone that Unji's vision is nearly gone, and Daiki can no longer walk, forcing him to be carried. While Seiko instructs Bamora to guide Unji, Jiji keeps Momo close to him, believing that his strong spiritual power is allowing him to perceive her and vows never to forget her, reassuring Momo, who is moved to tears by his promise. As Raiya attempts to ease Daiki's worries, Daiki questions his motives, recalling their initial meeting when Raiya was hostile toward him. Raiya explains that he had misunderstood Daiki, assuming he was causing problems for Unji related to the cursed trunk, and asks Daiki not to hold resentment toward him for the past. Daiki then asks Raiya why he is so dedicated to helping Unji, prompting Raiya to share a moment from their past where Unji once defended him from bullies and how everyone is loyal to Unji due to his unwavering compassionate towards kids his age with past mistakes.

News reports reveal that the criminals Juichi, Juhiko, and Jumanuel Kito have gone missing after their transport vehicle was ambushed. Meanwhile, at the airport, Naki Kito and her sons close in on Jiji and the others, using Momo's abandoned jacket from the Tsuchinoko incident to track her movements. Though Naki realizes Momo is not visibly present, she remains convinced that the girl is nearby, anticipating that their upcoming flight will be anything but ordinary.

Shimane plane departing

The plane to Shimane departing.

As the airplane prepares for takeoff, Momo, Jiji, and Bamora steady themselves, bracing for the flight ahead. After easing Jiji's anxiety during the flight, Momo accidently lands on Unji's shoulder from the turbulence, startling him. Unji soon becomes relieved that its Momo after recognizing her voice. This in turn also reassures Momo that he is still aware of her presence. After Unji refers to Momo as "girl" as he informs her that he is unable to see her due to his blindness, Momo states her dissatisfaction being referred to as such. Unji reminds her, however, that she never shared her name when they first met in Danmara. Jiji steps in, advising Momo not to disclose her identity, emphasizing that they attend different schools and are complete strangers. He also warns Unji against getting involved with Momo and their group once their mission is complete. Momo considers revealing her name, but Unji agrees with Jiji, insisting it is wiser to maintain distance. However, Unji refuses to cut ties completely with Momo, expressing a desire to remain connected in the foreseeable future, a statement that Momo and Jiji misinterpret as romantic intent. Unji quickly clarifies that he only meant social interaction, leading Jiji to redden with embarrassment when Unji calls out his possessive behavior, urging him to keep his emotions in check. Noticing Jiji's growing frustration, Bamora switches seats with Unji, advising him not to antagonize Jiji, whom she regards as a respectable person.

Momo reunites with Naki

Naki reveals herself to confront Momo and her allies.

After she observes their interaction, perceiving Jiji and Unji as getting along in their own way, Momo worries for Seiko after noticing her sweating profusely and heavy breathing. Jiji urges Seiko to seek assistance from a flight attendant, but she dismisses his concerns, attributing her condition to medication. Just as Jiji considers using his ki to enhance Seiko's health, a knife-wielding assailant approaches Jiji from behind. Before the attack lands, Unji's umbrellas are summoned to intercept the blade, causing a commotion among passengers after they notice the weapon. Unji announces that Futa acted independently, sensing a threat aboard the plane. More attackers emerge, targeting Jiji, but Seiko and Momo spring into action, defending him. Meanwhile, Bamora is protected by Raiya, who urges her to take cover under the seat. Refusing to hide, Bamora activates her kaiju suit and activates Empty Space per Jiji's request to shield the passengers from harm. Naki Kito then reveals herself while astounded to discover that the individuals her family has been pursuing are affiliated with "that side," a realization prompted by the activation of Empty Space.

The Family vs Kito Family

The Family and their allies fighting back against the Kito Family.

Momo and Jiji recognize Naki Kito and wonder why she and the Kito Family are present despite their prior arrest. Naki hears Momo's voice but remains confused, unaware that the tiny girl is positioned on her right leg. Jiji informs Seiko that their attackers are his former landlords from Byakuja Village, individuals involved in human sacrifices. Naki shifts the blame, accusing Jiji and his allies of causing the volcanic eruption, holding them responsible for the alleged deaths of the villagers, much to Momo's disagreement. Momo, Seiko, Jiji, and Bamora engage the Kito Family, with Momo warning them to be cautious of their blades. After Raiya is struck by Juichi, Unji intervenes by seizing Juichi's arm to prevent further escalation. Juichi retaliates, landing a blow on Unji and chastising him for remaining seated while his companions are under attack. Raiya attempts to protect the blind Unji, only to be kicked away by Juhiko, who chooses to engage him directly as his new foe. Using his sense of touch, Unji accurately locates Juichi's head and strikes. He then transitions to taking down Juhiko as well. As Unji searches for remaining attackers, he is briefly startled by Bamora's kaiju suit, prompting Bamora to urge him to remain seated. Following Naki's vow to unleash her family's wrath, Jiji senses the Evil Eye being summoned in response. He then sends Jugenna flying with a punch and advises the Evil Eye to exercise restraint, reminding him of his promise to Okarun to avoid killing. Naki observes Jiji's struggle with the Evil Eye, who she believed had already been exorcised, and attacks Jiji, demanding he reveal the yokai. Just as Naki prepares to strike with her Jennifer Lopez Anaconda, Seiko steps in to confront the head of the family. When Naki questions her identity, Seiko simply responds that she is an elderly woman and instructs Jiji to stay back while she handles the situation. As tensions escalate, the Kito Family blames their arrest and exile on Momo and her allies, only for Momo to dismiss their claims as absurd. Both parties then find the airplane descending after its engine suddenly takes damage by a powerful gust of wind. Jiji warns Momo of this occurrence and looks out the window to witness a school of sharks swimming through the sky alongside a tornado bearing an ear, a nose, and a mouth.

Mayday[]

Typhoon Human and the Shimane plane

The Typhoon Human appears.

Jiji informs everyone on board about the approaching typhoon and the unusual presence of flying sharks. Momo, however, remains skeptical about this bizarre occurrence until a shark unexpectedly collides with the aircraft, leaving both her and Jiji in a state of shock. Seiko then instructs everyone to hold on tightly and don their oxygen masks as the plane is about to experience a rapid descent. Following Momo's guidance communicated through Jiji, Bamora activates her kaiju suit's ability to enlarge and seal the breach. The aircraft soon comes under attack from more sharks, which Jiji notes are frozen. Seiko directs everyone to fasten their seatbelts and checks on the welfare of all passengers, including the Kito Family. Seiko, Jiji, and Momo then become aware of the chilling temperature inside the cabin, a consequence of the external weather, and fear that they might end up frozen like the sharks. After calling out to Seiko after she experiences a minor headache, Momo feels relieved when Seiko acknowledges her, explaining that her medication has dulled her senses. Nonetheless, she cautions Momo that the situation is critical, as she can barely sense her presence. Momo and Jiji ponder whether the god of Shimane is to blame, suspecting that they are hindering their journey due to the curse of the Evil Eye and Momo's own. Seiko counters this notion, asserting that the god of Izumo does not deny anyone's existence. Upon observing a face within the typhoon, Momo realizes it is a Typhoon Human, a cryptid she learned about from Okarun, which appears as a living storm, and suspects it is being controlled by someone, akin to how the Serpo manipulated Nessie during her second encounter. Momo and Jiji also notice that the plane is circling the typhoon, potentially leading them to a nearby airport, and believe they will be safe once they return and wait for the storm to subside. However, Seiko contends that this is not a feasible solution, as they will not have another chance to cure Momo until the following year, by which time her curse will have intensified to the extent that she may be forgotten. Confronted with a lack of options, Seiko determines that the Typhoon Human must be dealt with, firmly believing that this can be accomplished by focusing on one of its elements, with the frozen shark being pivotal to the plan.

Kito Family riding the Mongolian Death Worm

The Kito Family using a Mongolian Death Worm to help neutralize the Typhoon Human.

To neutralize the Typhoon Human, Seiko assigns Momo with the task of capturing the frozen airborne sharks with her power, while having Jiji fire his Evil Gun at the sharks to direct them into the swirling storm. She elaborates on the scientific principles behind this approach, explaining that upon impact, the frozen sharks will shatter into icy water droplets, triggering a chain reaction that widens the storm's eye, reshapes cloud formations, and ultimately weakens the typhoon while lowering the surrounding sea temperature keeping it active. While having them execute this plan, Seiko moves to the cockpit to pilot the plane, much to Momo's skepticism regarding Seiko's capabilities in flying an aircraft. As Momo and Jiji execute the plan, Jugenna reports their activity to Naki, suggesting that while their enemies are occupied, they launch an attack. However, Naki refuses, recognizing that they are facing a shared predicament. Instead, she takes matters into her own hands, preparing to neutralize the Typhoon Human with her own approach. Using her Jennifer Lopez Anaconda, Naki punches through the plane's flooring, accessing the cargo hold, where she stored several packages. Retrieving a bottle of water, she recites an incantation while pouring the liquid over one of the bundles. To the shock of Momo and Jiji, a Mongolian Death Worm erupts from the package and through the aircraft's roof. While the Kito Family ride on its back, Naki clarifies its unexpected presence, revealing that before the Mongolian Death Worm in Byakuja Village was slain by Momo, it had left behind eggs, which she and her family had secretly hatched, fed livestock, and smuggled aboard the plane after temporarily drying one out. Naki then follows Momo and Jiji's lead. instructing the Mongolian Death Worm to consume the frozen sharks and expel them into the typhoon.

Typhoon Human defeated

The Typhoon Human defeated.

As the Kito Family commands the Mongolian Death Worm to spit sharks at the Typhoon Human, the plane receives sudden turbulence that hurls Momo from the cabin. Jiji rushes to catch her but fails, watching helplessly as she drifts further until Unji, in his Umbrella Boy form, swoops in to catch her. With his vision still impaired, Unji relies on Futa's guidance while Jiji grasps his hand, steadying him after a shark collides with his umbrella keeping planted on top of the roof. Despite their relentless assault, the Typhoon Human shows no signs of weakening. Sensing the Mongolian Death Worm's presence, the Typhoon Human inhales two sharks and expels them as deadly projectiles, piercing the worm's body to everyone's shock. Acting fast, Momo prevents it from drifting away, using her psychic hand to seize control, turning the massive creature into a soaring carp windsock for them to ride on. As Jiji worries about their growing distance from the plane, Momo remains resolute to defeat the Typhoon Human and reach Shimane, telling everyone that the new plan is to ascend to the stratosphere and strike directly at its eye. Jiji fire his Evil Gun at the Typhoon Human's eye as instructed by Momo but sees that his attack is ineffective after the eye regenerates instantly. In retaliation, the Typhoon Human unleashes a lightning bolt, which Momo anticipates, instructing Naki to maneuver the worm out of harm's way. Momo then shifts their strategy to targeting the typhoon itself, having recalled Okarun's fact about it. She orders Naki to have the Mongolian Death Worm consume frozen sharks, despite concerns about weighing it down and preventing it from flying. Naki complies, though on her own terms. As the worm descends, Jiji warns of an incoming lightning strike, prompting Momo to order Naki to have the worm expel the sharks, redirecting the blast away from them, just as she predicted. Seizing the moment after passing the eye, Momo instructs Jiji to fire his Evil Gun into the sea to trigger turbulence between the warm and cold-water layers to dissipate the typhoon. Jiji executes the plan, but his blast turns out to lacks the necessary force. In a final gambit, Unji calls on Futa to summon a massive spinning umbrella to amplify Jiji's Evil Gun, strengthening the blast and finally bringing down the Typhoon Human.

Raiya gazes out the window, astonished to witness the defeat of the Typhoon Human. Simultaneously, Daiki reminisces about the time Unji permitted him to stay at his apartment and promised to help him. Both Raiya and Daiki are left pondering Unji's current location. Daiki asks Raiya to escort him to the cockpit, revealing that he has learned to pilot a plane from his father. He then expresses remorse to Raiya, stating that he does not consider himself a good person deserving of help from him and others, as he had bullied a classmate named Toru during his childhood. He then articulates that all that has occurred in his life is karma for his treatment of Toru and expresses his desire to become a better person like Raiya and Unji, intending to apologize to Toru. He also asserts his commitment to assist them regardless of the circumstances. In the cockpit, Seiko nearly faints from fatigue as she struggles to comprehend the instructions for flying the plane until Raiya and Daiki arrive to inform her that Daiki can take over flying duties.

Momo, Evil Eye, and Unji return to the plane

Momo, Evil Eye, and Jiji return to the plane.

Jiji becomes concerned about how he and the others will be able to return to the plane after overcoming the typhoon. Observing the Mongolian Death Worm veering off course, Momo asks Naki to direct the worm to a higher altitude to reach Shimane. However, Naki declines and discloses that she is guiding the worm towards their hideout to make them human sacrifices. In reaction to this, the Evil Eye attempts to surface from Jiji, prompting him to suppress the yokai. As Naki gazes at Jiji to inform him that he too will be a sacrifice, Juichi cautions Naki of impending danger, as a massive shark hurtles directly towards the group, ready to devour them, instilling fear in everyone. While the Kito Family and the Mongolian Death Worm are swallowed by the shark, Momo, the Evil Eye, and Unji manage to leap off just in time. The Evil Eye, enraged to reunite with the Kitos, assaults the shark, demanding that the family confront him. As the three plummet from the sky, Momo urges Unji to utilize his umbrellas, only for Unji to reply that he has already deployed both. She then instructs the Evil Eye and Unji to cling to one another while she employs her powers to serve as a parachute. Unfortunately, this effort fails to decelerate their fall. Momo then spots the plane returning, with Seiko and Daiki also gaining a clear view of them. Bamora relays to Seiko the whereabouts of Jiji and Unji and advises her to maintain speed, which Seiko appreciates but questions how Bamora discerned their location from her position. As the Evil Eye and Unji engage in a struggle, Momo harnesses her powers to have all three of them attach to the roof of the plane.

Arrival[]

Upon arriving at the next airport, Momo urges everyone to take their seats after Bamora informs them that their time in Empty Space is almost over. While Seiko expresses confusion due to her initial experience exiting Empty Space, Momo feels relieved that nothing happened in the real world. However, she overhears two female passengers discussing their concerns regarding the typhoon and the earlier disappearance of the assailants, which she chooses to disregard.

After escaping from the giant shark's stomach, Naki looks around in confusion as to where she and her sons are. Meanwhile, her sons quickly take not of the environment having low gravity and a thin atmosphere. Naki accuses Momo of orchestrating their situation by sending them to a remote area after they have served their purpose in defeat the Typhoon Human, and pledges to exact her revenge on Momo once more. As she proclaims this, while she and her sons adopt the Great Serpent pose alongside the Mongolian Death Worm, the family remains oblivious to the fact that they have arrived on the moon, with Earth distinctly visible in the background. Meanwhile, the Serpo examine the recordings of the incidents concerning the Typhoon Human, which they teleported to confront the aircraft that Momo was aboard. They categorize Momo as a dangerous individual and are convinced that their chances of neutralizing her could be enhanced through face-to-face confrontation. Concerned that Count Saint-Germain might capture Momo prior to their execution of her elimination, the Serpo contemplate the possibility of dispatching a substantial force of soldiers as a resolution to their dilemma.

As the police take Murakami into custody at Kami High, Kouki informs the authorities about her situation with Murakami and is directed to visit the station to provide a detailed statement. Queen subsequently inquiries about Kouki's well-being, to which Kouki responds negatively, voicing her feelings of guilt. Aira conveys to Okarun the extent of her pain as she is transported by ambulance. Both Okarun and Rin agree to accompany her for her safety, but Aira requests that only Okarun accompany her. Instead, Queen rides with Aira and instructs Okarun and Rin to return home. Aira expresses her disappointment at not being with Okarun and urges him to visit her in the hospital. Okarun checks on Rin, who reassures him that she is fine, crediting Aira and Kouki for their protection. His concerns then shift to Hase, to which Kinta advises him to disregard Hase's well-being. Meanwhile, Hase regains consciousness and questions his location inside the ambulance, prompting the medic to instruct him to calm down. Kinta then emphasizes that the situation remains unresolved after Aira informs him that both Murakami and Kouki were directed by someone to gather abilities. After Okarun learns that there is someone attempting to steal Momo's powers, Kinta seizes the opportunity to explain the concept of organized crime and outsourcing that pertains to everyone hired to steal powers. Although Okarun believes this complicates their search for the mastermind, Kinta argues that it is not impossible, asserting that the mastermind will eventually begin to falter and that what is crucial now is to maintain strong connections with allies, which reassures both Okarun and Rin. Kinta advises Rin to exercise greater caution around others, believing that she lacks the ability to accurately assess character, to which Rin expresses her disagreement with this assessment. In the meantime, Okarun ponders over Momo, which Kinta observes and infers that Okarun is reflecting on him as his first comrade to come to mind. Okarun complies with this inference and agrees to partner with Kinta should he encounter trouble again. Manjiro then arrives, informing Okarun that he has been instructed by Seiko to safeguard him and the others. He also tells Okarun that she was previously assaulted by an enigmatic group and presents him with an item wrapped in cloth that Seiko believes will assist him if he and his friends are also regarded as targets.
